ArtVanderlay Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I'm trying to watch video updates on the Nashville theatre shootings on CNN.com and the audio from an embedded video ad at the bottom of the screen keeps cutting in and out. Jesus FUCKING Christ, that is annoying. You would think CNN's tech idiots would have the good sense to remove intrusive ads like that from "tragedy" stories.
ArtVanderlay Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Embrace our collective hell. They advertise on Sirius. I hate their jingle. Cars4Kids also advertises on Sirius and they bill themselves as the "original cars 4 kids. That's cars with a 'C'!" Embrace our collective hell. They advertise on Sirius. I hate their jingle. Cars4Kids also advertises on Sirius and they bill themselves as the "original cars 4 kids. That's cars with a 'C'!" Are they advertisements or PSAs used to fill out unsold airtime? How on Earth would a charity be able to afford this many ads?
RIPPA Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 HA! Norm McDonald is the new Colonel Sanders. FUCK YOU DARRELL HAMMOND! http://uproxx.com/tv/2015/08/norm-macdonald-darrell-hammond-colonel-sanders-kfc/
piranesi Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 That's bizarre in so many ways. It's like seeing lost footage of Bill Hicks doing JC Penny commercials. Like, who is going to be the new Norm Mcdonald now?
Pete Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 HA! Norm McDonald is the new Colonel Sanders. FUCK YOU DARRELL HAMMOND! http://uproxx.com/tv/2015/08/norm-macdonald-darrell-hammond-colonel-sanders-kfc/ Based on Macdonald's Colonel calling out Hammond's "imposter" Colonel, I could almost see them doing a dueling Colonels feud. The banjo music would be even more appropriate.
Kuetsar Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I'm not really a fan of Norm, but those KFC commercials are so bad, it has to be an improvement. . .
Neil Koch Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 It's not going to be any better, just another old white guy in bad makeup schilling nasty greasy chicken. Norm must be really hard up for money between this and Last Comic Standing.

How on Earth would a charity be able to afford this many ads? A lot of what you give to charities never goes to the actual charity, it pays for the salaries of the people who run them. There are a lot that run commercials during prime time TV, sports events, etc and that time isn't cheap. That's a big reason I never give money, especially with big national organizations. I will donate my time and volunteer, though.
Kuetsar Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 As bad as Darrel Hammond looked as Col. Sanders, Norm Mcdonald is so much worse. He looks like a freaking serial killer in that getup. . . .
ArtVanderlay Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/19/us/subway-jared-fogle-charges/index.html Jared from Subway pleads guilty to having sex with minors.
muhammedboehm Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 So that's how he really lost all that weight
Randy Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Batlimore Ravens' kicker, Justin Tucker, did a local car commercial as a spoof on Mathew McConaughy: https://vimeo.com/136271735 1
OSJ Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 See, I'm from the PNW, where for years all we had was KFC, then in my teen years a guy bought a Church's franchise and I worked as a manager for a year or so, before the idiot ran all three stores into the ground. Fast-forward to our move to New Mexico and my discovery of Popeye's. This is what fried chicken is supposed to be, simply marvelous and with some hot sauce added it blows away anything else. Unfortunately, the closest Popeye's is two hours away, but anyone mentions that they're going to ABQ, out comes the $20 bill and the cooler... Being new to this, I am quite confused by the name... The spokesperson is a pleasant middle-aged woman who speaks of the recipes as "hers", is she supposed to be nicknamed "Popeye" and if so, why in God's name? The other possibilities would be the cartoon character, but he was big on spinach, not fried chicken, so I don't get the connection. The other Popeye of note was a NYC cop who has as much connection to Louisiana as I do to Nunavut. So, y'all that hail from below the MD line and grew up with Popeyes's; what's the deal with the name? Damn your framistan's, Rippa... Sometimes you really want to use the word p r o d u c t. I LOVE me so KFC, I just hate the new commercials. Then again I think ALL of the Popeyes commericals are annoying too. Then again in SLC where I grew up, all we had was KFC, so I might be biased. I drove by the original KFC so many times I couldn't possibly count, then they had to tear it down(hell probably 20 years ago now). . .
Pete Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 SUBWAY® @SUBWAY 22h22 hours ago We no longer have a relationship with Jared and have no further comment. 16K Favorite 13K More And no one bothered them ever again. Yeah right.
piranesi Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 They should have traded up to a better-looking guy when they had the chance:

Death From Above Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I'm not going to subject foreigners to our pain, but the Conservative Party of Canada ads they are running for this 500 year long election (and the two months they were running them before that) are absolutely the worst. It's not like they're just on a bit. They are on every single break, on every single channel. I've got muting my tv down for 30 seconds at a time when the spots come on. Like I can be doing something else, the first two seconds of the ad go, and I've stopped what I'm doing just to mute them. Even by political ad's remarkably low standards this shit is so embarrassing and childish. Serenity now.

BrianS81177 Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 For anyone who's lived here in the Seattle area at any point in the past 20 years, this might be a bit of a gut punch: http://www.thenewstribune.com/news/local/article31552160.html Robert Thielke, the star of the Vern Fonk commercials passed away last week.
