Emma Stone, while talented, should not win best actress for La La Land.

It was announced that Sara Bareilles will be "performing" during the In Memoriam

They have also announced that an "extended photo gallery" will be on Oscars.com honoring over 200 people who passed away during the year

I'll predict:

Best Film: La La Land.

Best Director: Damien Chazelle, La La Land.

Best Actor: Denzel Washington, Fences. Almost went for Ryan Gosling, La La Land.

Best Actress: Emma Stone, La La Land.

Best Supporting Actor: Mahershala Ali, Moonlight.

Best Supporting Actress: Viola Davis, Fences.

Animated Feature Film: Zootropolis.

I had to go check that too.  It's another one of those that has a different name in the UK, Avengers Assemble style.

That's getting a little too close to "Zoophilia" for my liking

Man...am I an old man for remembering a time when someone said they were a zoo lover and the worst you could accuse them of was banality?

Imagine being all excited to possibly win an Oscar, and then...

http://variety.com/2017/film/news/academy-rescinds-sound-mixing-oscar-nomination-for-violation-of-campaign-regulations-1201996589/

The Academy announced on Saturday, the day before Oscar Sunday, that Greg P. Russell’s sound mixing nomination for “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” has been revoked for “violation of Academy campaign regulations.” Gary Summers, Jeffrey J. Haboush and Mac Ruth remain sound mixing nominees for the film.

“The decision was prompted by the discovery that Russell had called his fellow members of the Sound Branch during the nominations phase to make them aware of his work on the film, in direct violation of a campaign regulation that prohibits telephone lobbying,” the release said.

I don't think it's likely to be an issue. City of Stars feels like a lock.

Wow I knew he was the best thing in Luke Cage but I didn't expect him to win an Oscar on his first try. Good on Ali.

Just one In Memorium during the broadcast then, yes? Please?

Or was that the Emmys that did like three one year?

That was the Emmys.  It was a poor choice.  They used each one to focus on a specific person.  One of them was for that D-lister from Glee who OD'ed on smack.  Instead of someone like Jack Klugman, who I don't think they ever bothered to mention.

That's a bit harsh.  Glee was popular and Cory Monteith was one of the show's stars.  Not comparing him to Klugman in any way, but he wasn't a D-lister by any guidelines at that time.

The problem is that the Emmys tried to pander to several demographics that year, including young adults.  That led to a debacle concerning the memoriums.  Klugman's family was right to be upset over him not being featured more, but Klugman's son went too far and pretty much said Monteith didn't deserve to be remembered because he overdosed and killed himself.

It was a mess that the Emmys could have avoided, though.  Just do a standard memorium and put everyone in there.

Apparently not his fault.

Congrats to Moonlight on a stunning upset anyway
