2017 NFL OFFSEASON THREAD

RIPPA

The Mikes went agog this morning over Kirk Cousins trying to make a tackle after throwing an interception because he - HOLY CRAP - actually wanted to win the game.  It was highly annoying.  You know your league doesn't need an all-star game when trying to make a play astonishes people.

I hate Jay Ajayi a little less now.

It was nice of Everson and Linval to give him an escort like that.

Bit sad that Linval didn't immediately put him up so that Everson could 3-D him, because that would have been kind of cool.

Looks like Ginger Bowl Cut's attempt to relocate to Vegas is in the shitter, after both Sheldon Aldelson pulled out and so did Goldman Sachs. . . .back to Oakland for you! His dad never would have accepted the NFL going with the Chargers in L.A. instead of the Raiders. . .

La Canfora says the Bears apparently covet Jimmy Garoppolo (for some reason) and are going to make a pitch for his services.  Cleveland and New York (AFC) are apparently kicking the tires there too.

The Cowboys will listen to trade offers regarding Tony Romo this offseason.  The Bills are desperate for him (and will probably fuck themselves over because they want to keep Tyrod around also). Additional players in the #8 Sweepstakes: Denver, Kansas City, Arizona, and Houston.

I don't consider La Confora a high end source, he just regurgitates anything he hears from agents. So he is occasionally right but not usually.

Any team would be dumb to trade for Romo, since the chances of the Cowboys keeping him with that salary cap hit are slim to none. Just wait until he is cut and he will likely be cheaper, plus the team wouldn't have to give up anything.

That's only true if you are very confident you'll win the free agency race for him.

Well the feeling is that since Jerry loves Romo, he isn't going to trade him to like Cleveland, it would only be a team that Romo wanted to go to.  I think any team would be crazy to take a 25 million dollar cap hit for 2017, and give up draft picks, for a soon to be 37 year old football player with an injury history that hasn't played a full season since 2014. I could absolutely see a team give him an incentive-laden contract that could earn him 20 million a year as when healthy I still think he has the skills, but paying full price to him seems crazy.

But I guess we will find out soon enough :)

Even with the incentives, Romo's probably not even looking your way unless you started at $15 mil. Only team that really would have the inside lane, IMO, would be Buffalo if they could get someone to take Tyrod off their hands. Broncos and Cards have more cap at the moment, but they also have some major decisions to make(keeping Okung and/or resigning Ware if he doesn't opt to retire/resigning both Campbell and Chandler Jones to big deals).

Not that they asked me but I wouldn't be in favor of in essence trading Tyrod for Romo, nor do I think Romo would want to play in Buffalo. I think that is based off one report but I hadn't seen anything from either side implying that is really something either side is looking to do.  Nor do the Bills really have the cap space to do that as they have 23 Free Agents. Not all of which will be re-signed of course but if they aren't than someone else has to be signed in their place in that position. Trading Tyrod's cap hit for Romo's cap hit would mean the Bills would have about ~20ish with way too many other gaps that need to be filled.

But I still doubt any team will trade for Romo with his current contract with lasts until 2019 with a 20 mil cap hit all three years, so I am going with that until something more legitimate comes out.
