Execproducer Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I thought the guy from TV's MOONLIGHTING would be huge....and then I thought Blind Date killed his movie career in it's crib.
Brian Fowler Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Didn't Neve Campbell wind up with a stalker or something like that, and kinda stopped working to avoid that whole issue?
J.H. Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I vaguely recall when Shannon Elizabeth was "a thing" I'm always stunned that, as far as meaty TV roles go, Daniel Benzali didn't get another long term lead after Murder One James
Reed Posted April 19, 2015 Author Posted April 19, 2015 I think what happened to Freddie Prinze was that Chris Evans came along. Only he could act and has more charisma, so... I was surprised Franka Potente didn't have more US success.
JRGoldman Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I thought 'high school teacher learns to cook meth' sounded like a thin premise and would run out of steam after half a season. I thought the cast of Wonderfalls was going to take over television.
(BP) Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Yeah, I watched the pilot of Breaking Bad and thought it was going to be a little too cute. I didn't go back to it until much later when I found out about the Walt heel turn and Odenkirk being a regular.
Kuetsar Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 How was Lacey Chabert not a huge star? Opting out of family guy, in hindsight, didn't help. . .
J.H. Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I really thought Pushing Daisies was going to last at least 7 seasons, y'know it would be that show that stayed on with mediocre ratings but when the cas threatens to walk the network gives them a huge pay raise for just one more season... Alas... James
pipGofern Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I remember that season a bunch of pilots leaked online so I downloaded them all - I was convinced Pushing Daisies was going to be the next Lost or X-Files in terms of weird quirky fantasy-type series that became a pop culture phenomenon. Outside of a strong cult following, nobody really even remembers it was ever on sadly enough.
J.T. Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I thought that Dichen Lachman was going to be a huge star. Fowler tricked me. 1
Brian Fowler Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I have no clue how she isn't. So so so good on Dollhouse.
Matt D Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Now I'm annoyed I can't remember which episode of Dollhouse I thought was really good and should have won the Hugo instead of Waters of Mars. It wasn't Epitaph One which got nominated. EDIT: figured it out. It was Belonging.
Eivion Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I thought that Dichen Lachman was going to be a huge star. Fowler tricked me. I still feel all of you were fairly insane for this. She is right where I figured she would be.
The Z Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 As far as people not becoming big stars go, I thought Josh Hartnett would be like the next Brad Pitt or something and then he just disappeared off the face of the planet.
Brian Fowler Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 That has a lot to do with him having the emotional range of your average pet rock.
Matt D Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I don't fully understand what happened to Josh Holloway. He was supposed to be the break out star out of Lost. As opposed to, well, no one. 1
Spritenaut 32 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Yeah, I thought Lost would propel at least a couple people to bigger things. Fox and Holloway, at least.
Reed Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 Maggie Grace has probably done better than anyone. Which is kind of crazy.
pipGofern Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Yeah. I don't remember anything Maggie Grace has done outside being Liam Neeson's epically unlucky daughter in the Taken movies and having a little part in that one Rock movie with Billy Bob. I'd say Evangeline Lilly has just as good a film career. Emerson has a hit (ish?) network show. They're probably all tied for most successful Lost alums. But, yeah, I think everybody expected Holloway to break out in some way - either as leading man in a successful TV series or transition into a decent movie career. They fact he's basically fallen off the map is one of those great mysteries you can only chock up to some combination of bad luck and bad choices.
Technico Support Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I thought that Dichen Lachman was going to be a huge star. Fowler tricked me. I have no clue how she isn't. So so so good on Dollhouse. ITT dudes blinded by yellow fever
Burgundy LaRue Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Fox seems like he would have a Kyle Chandler type career: regularly on TV with some movies mixed in. But doesn't he have a drinking problem? I seem to remember a DUI and beating up a party bus driver.
Niners Fan in CT Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I will be happy when Chris Pine and Sam Worthington are no longer lead actors in huge sci-fi/action franchises.
Technico Support Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Sam Worthington will be replaced by Jai Courtney and nobody will notice.
