Enjoy the week.

One of the best film endings ever to one of the best horror films ever, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974).

So last week was uneventful for AEW ;). Let's see what this one brings on.

This is the week! We're going to Collision this Saturday. Cool to see Darby already announced, he's one of my son's favorites. I'm looking forward to seeing him match up with Christian. That's kind of a dream match that I didn't know I wanted until it was announced thing.

So, the story is that we're going to check out this cool toy store in Lexington Saturday. I told the boy we may run by Rupp Arena so he can see where the Wildcats play basketball and maybe check out where our seats are for Guns n Roses in September (yes, I'm taking a six-year-old to see GnR next month). I haven't been to Rupp in a little while, but I think I can pretty much get him into the arena before he realizes that AEW is happening there that night. He's going to lose his mind. My wife said he's told her at least twice in the last week that he wishes AEW would come somewhere close so he can go.

I'm so excited for this. Let's get some more matches announced!

This the most interesting Dynamite Card in a while for me. You may feel otherwise.

  • Cassidy vs Wheeler had a great little promo package on the Control Center this morning (I chose to embed the big image instead). I loved how Wheeler was going on about the belt mattering most to Cassidy and Cassidy was noting that his Best Friends were most important. The match itself should be really good. Their last one was solid and this has way more heat behind it even if it is a stepping stone to All In and whatever happens with Mox.
  • Bunny vs Baker is a fresh match up at least. Bunny maybe sort of has some sympathy coming off of an injury and Britt is not the most sympathetic babyface so it could be a little weird. It's a cold match, albeit part of a tournament, and they'll be looking past to whatever's next, but it's really about Allie getting her legs back under her in a high profile situation, I guess. Not a lot of intrigue here, but they'll probably put a lot of effort into it.
  • Jarrett vs Jeff Hardy should be pure madness. The Jarrett promo to set it up, especially the extended? one on the Control Center was bonkers. Going on about promotional deals and a "deathmatch championship match" and "I have one last last word for you... I'm going to take you out" which was really funny to me because I was expecting a single word for some reason. Presuming this is a pre-tape they'll cover for any potential physical shortcomings. I'm sure Sonjay put his heart and soul into it.
  • Darby/Wayne vs Gates of Agony is either going to have them maul Darby or maul Wayne and you can't go wrong either way. Presumably Darby's the hot tag and that's great since his offense is either good for hope spots or coming in after a hot tag. These are perfect opponents for him.
  • Gunns vs Bucks sounds pretty painful, especially because it has to have contrast vs the FIP-heavy Darby/Wayne vs Gates match, so you can't hope that they'd just lean into standard southern tag structure. I'm not sure the Gunns are set up for the rapid fire spot stuff. They'll sure try hard though. Maybe the whole show will just be poorly agented and they can lean into what they're ok at. More likely, they just get run over to set up the post-match beatdown and the Hangman save and the All In match, no?
  • The Jericho and Omega story bits sound compelling. I can't imagine what MJF and Cole even do at this point. Acclaimed said they were going to be in action but they're not on the poster. They could do worse things than interrupt MJF/Cole and ask for a match for Collision or something.

Already looking forward to your report. Enjoy, my friend xxx .

Seconded - Enjoy @LogHope you and your boy have a great time! (I love the set-up btw - my mom did the same thing with me as a kid for a Bret mall signing, and it's one of my fondest childhood memories. Good on ya)

I am super looking forward to Yuta/OC. I thought their last TV match back in February was killer - going to be tough to top, but I'm very much looking forward to seeing them try.

And I'm always down to have more Gates of Agony in my life. I've been a big Kaun guy since his first Dark appearance, and you know how much I appreciate a good big boi team (see Country, Bear - Pain, Authors of - Conduct, Disorderly - etc). I assume we're furthering the Swerve issue here, so I'm really hoping we get more of Nana on the mic.

(ROH viewers: has there been a segment with Nana interacting with Stoke yet? It seems like a no brainer to me)

I'm not NOT looking forward to Baker/The Bunny, and they've done some really great stuff together before, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that my curiosity on this one mostly lies in seeing where Britt is with her rust/illness recovery or whatever it is that seems to have made her lost a step lately. And that's not a knock on her whatsoever - just again, the reality of having a PPV very very soon

Three '______ addresses ______' segments seems like a lot, but so does two PPVs in three weeks, so, yeah. Is what it is. But sometimes the weird on paper Dynamites are the best ones, so my hype is in no way tempered by that. Plus you could do a lot worse on the mic than the folks slotted into those segments (and even Omega, arguably the least strong, has J.R. who IMO is at his most effective in these settings) so that should be all good stuff.

Hell, 1979 alone gave us Alien, Phantasm, and Dawn of the Dead 😉

EDIT: And Tourist Trap, Nosferatu the Vampyre, The Brood, Fascination, The Driller Killer, Badham/Langella's Dracula, freakin Zombi 2/Zombie... (Dawn of the Dead was '78, my mistake)

Is that the one where they're in the mall?? There are so many of those it's hard to keep straight, but that one was my fav back in the day

Yep, that's the mall one. Its remake has been making the rounds on I believe Showtime recently and was actually on this morning.

Judging from the graphics on the TCM game I highly doubt they could "fix" Fight Forever

Man, I'm a fucking idiot forgetting Dawn of the Dead (1978). Best zombie film ever and one of the best horror films ever made.

I really think we're underestimating how weird this Texas Chainsaw match has the possibility to be.

I mean, take away the gimmick, and it's Jeff Hardy vs. Jeff Jarrett on tv in 2023. That's the basement for the weirdness and that's pretty damn weird!

Dawn of the DEA is a copaganda movie about how the war on drugs was a good thing, and not in any way a racist exercise in feeding young Americans into the Prison Industrial modern slavery business.

There has to be a porno out there titled Dawn of the 'D', right?

Or a documentary about the history of boob jobs.

(Which could tie into yesterday's Alexis Fawx news.)
