Death From Above Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Manchester United playing like shit for the opening minutes and Spurs hand them a lead anyway so we've picked up not far from where we left off. Ever since the own goal Tottenham's been lifeless. Blame Europa League. 1
muhammedboehm Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Man that survey that I took that showed which EPL team you are if your a fan of an NFL team was so right for me as a Chiefs fan and thus a Spurs fan is SO true!
Pete Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 Watching Leeds/Burnley, were Leeds seriously unable to dig up a shirt sponsor to start the year? WTF?
Setsuna Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 That Leeds / Burnley game was pretty scrappy. Missed the Burnley goal but glad they at least got the draw. 3-0 Leicester at the moment. They're my team for the year, hope they can avoid relegation again. I'm a football novice - got into the sport a few years ago and started with the Copa America which led to being a Suarez / Liverpool fan. When Suarez left though I had to find a new team. The big matches are always broadcast here in Burmese so ended up watching the teams on the bottom half of the table most of the time because I enjoy it more with the English commentary. This led to becoming a fan of Burnley, QPR and Leicester. QPR mainly because they're owned by the owner of Airasia and I fly with them a dozen times a year. And I hate flying. So in my mind a successful football team = safer flights. Burnley because I always started with Peterborough in FIFA games and George Boyd is always the dude from the original roster that stays on the 1st team the longest. Leicester because of that relegation battle last year. Stupid, I know. But it's all arbitrary when you have no loyalty to any of the teams and don't know the players well enough to choose favourites yet. Suarez was such a ball of energy though, I really miss him in the league and rarely stay up late enough to watch the Spanish league. He is the best player to love to hate. I remember the first game in the premier league I watched of his, he fouled some guy then laughed it off and mussed his hair up. Then like 5 minutes later was fouled, the guy mussed Suarez's hair and he absolutely flipped out. Just wish he'd stop biting guys. That's the end of my rambling. Sorry about that.
SirFozzie Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Looks like the decision to sell Cech just turned around and bit Chelski right in the ass. Courtois sent off (straight red+penalty), 2-2 with 10 minutes to play. Oh, and the guaranteed game Courois misses? Man City next week. Oops.
Jiji Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Begovic is a pretty good starting keeper for most clubs. They'll be fine. 1
cubbymark Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Pleased Swansea was able to get a point but those last 10 minutes were pretty nerve-wracking as Chelsea looked more determined even with 10 men.
sabremike Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Best offseason signing for United so far is Owen Goal. It's a win, I'll take it.
odessasteps Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Sounds like Jose did not complain about the red card, but did throw Lady Physio under the bus for taking them down to 9 men.
RIPPA Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 League One already brings the wacky (and the fair play)
sabremike Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Are the TFC fans really that selfish that they would rather the oldest football club in the western hemisphere go bust than be allowed to play at BMO?
Death From Above Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 That was a great Chelsea/Swansea game. Little bit of everything. Costa is such a drama queen, but for pure entertainment that only makes him more hateable so it works.
Death From Above Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Are the TFC fans really that selfish that they would rather the oldest football club in the western hemisphere go bust than be allowed to play at BMO? Yes. They also think they own their stadium which is endlessly cute. 2
Cristobal Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Technically most of England and Spain are in the western hemisphere
sabremike Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Technically most of England and Spain are in the western hemisphere OK, oldest club in the new world.
Jiji Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I take umbrage with your concept of "New World". People have been on this continent for ~12,000 years, dawg.
Death From Above Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 They didn't have football, a beer, and an airline so they don't count. 1
sabremike Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 They had lacrosse and/or hockey! If you can show me a club in any code of football that started on this continent earlier than the Argos and exists to this day I'll be impressed.
Raziel Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Well, depending on how you count the mergers, Hamilton is four years older than the Argos. 1
sabremike Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Well, depending on how you count the mergers, Hamilton is four years older than the Argos. Fair point, kind of like how United were formed out of the ashes of Newton Heath and it's considered the same team (this lead to the club having two centenary seasons, one for NH which was when they had the green and gold away kit and the other for the centenary of United).
Randy Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 So the reason why so many people are picking Arsenal to win the league (Cech) is responsible for them going down 2-0.
