AxB
In the UK, they decided to have the gap between doses by 12 weeks instead of 4. The idea being to get as many people having had at least the first one as quickly as possible.

You should make it legally binding to have the second after you have the first though. Just look at what's happening over here.
AxB
The Anti Vaccine movement is not that strong over here. Which does mean a lot of us have had to wait our turn, but it also means we're likely to reach herd immunity levels of immunisation at some point.
RIPPA
Son is fully vaccinated thus the entire family is vaccinated. Bring on the hookers and blow! That’s how this works right?
The Natural
I booked my coronavirus second jab today. A fortnight away was the only date. Last hour the UK's said 30-39 will be offered an alternative to the Oxford-AstraZeneca. I had that in March. Just have to see what the doctors do if anything. S.K.o.S.
Got my first AstraZeneca shot on Wednesday evening. Woke up at 3 am that night with chills, had a fever and headache throughout Thursday, and now I'm back at about 95% today. Don't normally have side effects from flu shots, so this was new to me.

Curt McGirt
In the US it's been about 27 days until the second shot, which is why I was shocked that it was so long.
Mike Campbell
It looks like I'll be bidding farewell to my part time weekend side gig come July. My wife is currently a teaching assistant, but has made it clear to the Principal that she'd like to be working in the LIbrary, which is a position that has needed filling for quite a while now. She had her meeting with the Principal on Tuesday, and she was told that they need to post the job opening and wait 30 days for people to apply. However (read between the lines here), it's up to the Principal who gets the job, and it's based on not just qualificatons but also who is clearly passionate about it, as well as who she feels is the right fit for the school. And this comes with a huge bump in pay. She'd already told my wife that she can expect a hefty raise, and when she put some numbers on the table, hefty is actually an understatement........

The difference is the type of vaccine 21 days for the Pfizer vaccine, 28 days for Moderna And the J&J shot is a one and done AstraZeneca recommended between 4 and 12 weeks so obviously each country using that will set up their own standard. Canada is following the same model as the UK - 4 months (12 weeks) to get as many people the first dose as possible

But as far as I can tell from a Google search, there's no evidence that delaying the second dose of Pfizer reduces its efficacy.
S.K.o.S.
Rippa's right. It would be ok, medically speaking, to get the second Pfizer shot after 21 days, but due to somewhat limited vaccine supply, Canada's making the interval 16 weeks for all types of COVID vaccines. This is so that people getting their second dose don't get in the way of people trying to get their first dose. See https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/immunization/national-advisory-committee-on-immunization-naci/recommendations-use-covid-19-vaccines.html, Table 3, and then read footnote (a) right under that table. Zimbra
My dad is moving to Mexico so the family went over to lay claim to his stuff this weekend and among other things I got all the family photos. So now I finally have documentation of the cake I picked out for my 4th birthday: I don't know why I'm the way I am, but I have always been like this. 2

Technico Support
Hurray! I've had enough health issues this year that I've met my insurance's out-of-pocket maximum, so they will cover the rest of the year at 100%. Now I can get a taste of how people in countries with scary socialized medicine live!

Based on what I've heard about US health care, I initially assumed the "Hurray!" was sarcastic and you were going to say you'd had enough health issues that your insurer was cutting you off.

Now that wouldn't surprise me. The state of healthcare here in The Greatest Country In The World is insane. Doctors' hands are tied concerning what course of action they can recommend. For instance, my doctor came right out and told me he'd like me to get an MRI but, based on who my insurance company is, he knew they'd deny it. So we have a situation where it's the insurance company determining my course of care instead of my doctor. And of course it's in the insurance company's best interests to pay out as little as possible in order to keep profits up. Their guidelines for a MRI were that I'd need to try physical therapy and meds for 6-8 more weeks first. For me, physical therapy could have made my problem worse and 6-8 weeks would have meant roughly two more months of pain and continuing to get only 2-3 hours of sleep per night. I called the insurance company and had a lovely two hour argument with higher and higher-ranked customer care folks with a lot of choice words about how unhappy I was and how I'd be changing carriers next year and, as if by magic, they approved everything my doctor wanted, including surgery, from then on out. It's a capitalist shitshow driven by corporate greed while people with actual health problems suffer. But hey, anything is better than "socialism" amirite?

All of that sounds fucked up, but as far this goes, the threat of actual communism was what made Finland try and model itself somewhat similarly to other Nordic countries and thus our strong roots in social democracy were established. Communism is fucked, because no one has ever had any interest in actually trying to make it work. But the threat of it next door sprung up social democracy and with all of its faults, it's definitely one of the more humane ways to run a society. Not to rub it in, but I've been experiencing some minor facial weirdness. Both my family doctor and the neurologist she referred me to said it was probably nothing, but they got me an MRI to be sure without my having to jump through any ridiculous hoops. I'm glad you got the treatment you needed, but you shouldn't have to fight for it. 1 hour ago, Shartnado said: All of that sounds fucked up, but as far this goes, the threat of actual communism was what made Finland try and model itself somewhat similarly to other Nordic countries and thus our strong roots in social democracy were established. But the idea that any deviation from unregulated capitalism is tantamount to communism is a ridiculous lie. (Not one I'm accusing you of propagating, Shartnado. As you say, there are better ways.)
