JAN 2014 WRESTLING DISCUSSION REBOOT THREAD

Some guys would have tried to professional on their way out but not Punk.

He has to make a point, you see. Even though no one's entirely sure what this point is meant to be.

Do you know something we don't about how or why Punk quit?

Christ.  It's like an ESPN comment section right after someone declares for the NBA.  "He just didn't have what it takes to get his degree and he clearly wanted to send a message to Bill Self.  Trust me, I watch the games."

I doubt he is gone for good. He has looked tired and bored the last few months. As noted in this thread earlier, it just frees up the card for Wrestlemania. Can see them running Cena-Wyatt / HHH-Bryan / Taker-Sting / Lesnar-Sheamus / Orton-Batista now with Punk gone.

Look, the most important thing is that Mick Foley is feeling better:

ENTHUSIASM RETURNING

A couple of days ago I mentioned in one of my posts that I was about 1/6 as excited about Wrestlemania as I was prior to the Royal Rumble PPV. I think we were all a little down that night. Well, the enthusiasm is returning – maybe not up to 100% yet – but somewhere in the halfway range. I am no longer thinking of selling my tickets, or canceling my flights and I am looking forward to being part of the biggest week of the year in our business. I might even serve in some type of official capacity for WWE – maybe even my own show somewhere during that week. But I don't think it's possible to overstate just how important it is that WWE come up HUGE on this elimination chamber PPV. I am doing a show in Minneapolis the night before the The Chamber and I intend to stick around for the PPV, even if I'm not a part of it – just because I get the feeling history might be made. For the sake of Mania, I think it NEEDS to be made.

Clearly smashing his daughter's TV provided the catharsis he needed to work through his anger.

Losing Orton and Punk would be the best thing to happen to that show right now. I honestly don't know what The Shield, Big E Langston, The Real Americans, The Usos, Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio will be doing on it. Perhaps that Langston/Reigns vs. Ambrose/Rollins match will actually happen.

Raw better have Michael Cole come out at some point and tell the crowd that CM Punk will be here again next week LIVE ON RAW.

Following week Cole introduces "CM Punk" and its just Corey Graves in Punks gear.

Worked for fake Diesel and Razor right?

Seriously, as casual-fan-old-school-hate-filled-codger as I am, I can't be the only person that sees the words Orton, Batista, and Wrestlemania together and cringes like someone who just stumbled onto tentacle porn on their mom's lap top. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

Please.

They've taken the CM Punk "Best in the World" documentary off Netflix and WWE has unfollowed Punk on Twitter.

WWE Facebook page just updated their relationship status to "It's complicated" too.  This is rock bottom.

You know for all the talk about how booking is burying Daniel Bryan, Orton is really the victim of some shitty shit writing here.  I mean they haven't made the guy do or say anything interesting in months, they are just having him do his 'greatest hits'.  How someone can be the World Champion and be such an afterthought to the program is dumb.  He could really benefit from some time off or something, anything new to do.

The writing has been piss poor for pretty much everyone all year.  Cena, Punk, Orton, Bryan etc etc....  The quality of the talent has covered it up, but no matter how good the wrestling is, watching The Shield vs 3 babyfaces over and over again with no direction just doesn't fucking cut it.

It does feel less crowded at the top of the card now. I enjoy CM Punk, and as someone who's a large man who's trained enough to have been elbowed in the face by a smaller man, I can assure you that it hurts. Particularly if the smaller man also knows what he's doing. But Punk kind of ran out of things to do. It's clear that his beef with the Authority is second to Bryan's in the eyes of fans and the eyes of the office, and apparently there's only so many things he wants to do. He also doesn't strike me as a guy who's gonna be happy just working a program for the sake of filling tv time. If that's the case, he should leave instead of dragging it out. What I am curious about is how this effects his relationship with the company in the inevitable event that he wants to come back....
