Technico Support Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Truth Magnum actually yells TURBO FLOYD, YOU SON OF A BITCH before they do the handshake-double bicep double elbowdrop and that is just the absolute best. 15
Technico Support Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Also Ricochet vs The Beast Mortos is something we would have gotten had Lucha Underground lasted 10 more seasons. 6
Curt McGirt Posted September 13 Posted September 13 I skipped the wrestling and watched the talking. Good stuff. Darby's drinking line to Mox was nice and low. 2

Phantom Lord Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Watched Rampage and it was all right. They might just have a star in the making with this guy BEEF. The crowd seemed really into him and Roddy Strong made him look good. 3
tbarrie Posted September 14 Posted September 14 "Bring a lunch, because I'm coming to kick your ass" may be my new favourite non sequitur. For now. 4

Every time I see them, I feel like TK should buy the rights to "Push it to the Limit" for them. 99 times out of a hundred I would very much agree with this, but please do not fuck with their Dance with the Dead entrance theme! That's why I like them so much at the moment! It actually works very well with their gimmick, because it's from 2017(ish), just like they are (give or take 15 years or so)! And on another note: When do you guys think Claudio made the decision to turn on Bryan Danielson? The seeds were sown when he didn't agree with Danielson's decision to team up with Kingston again, but since they got along again once Kingston went down, was the decision made later, or was he just waiting for the right time? Obviously Mox got to him too, but when do you figure that happened? Edited September 14 by Shartnado added "with" and another question altogether 3

Maybe Osprey or Okada could be considered even if they are otherwise occupied in different divisions. Otherwise I’m drawing a blank since I kind of agree the Darby isn’t quite ready. But a win over Mox might just do the trick. Good question. I'd still out it on Darby Allin who becomes the first to hold the AEW World Championship, TNT Championship and AEW World Tag Team Championship even though I'm wary as fuck with the mileage/bumps Allin has accumulated. Danielson vs. Allin is a first time dream match. I'll be fucking pissed if Jon Moxley is the one who ends Bryan Danielson's AEW World Championship and full time career, he doesn't need it. The Natural Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Looking forward to FTR vs. GYV tonight on AEW Collison. 2
SovietShooter Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Because of his reckless risk taking style, Darby can be a short term champ. Like, he could pull off the win against Danielson, and then on Dynamite lose the belt to Mox after being thrown down a staircase or something, and no one would think Darby was weak. And if Darby truly doesn't have an ego where he wants to be the champ or whatever, then he would probably relish a role like that. Like, when it is all said and done, I can see Darby being like a five time AEW champ, but his total title reigns adding up to like 90 days. The money is in the chase. 4

I'm good with a short term Darby reign as well, but I respectfully disagree with the Mox thing. I DO agree Mox doesn't necessarily need it, but I think Mox being the one to do it makes a shitload of narrative sense as a bow on the story of the original recipe BCC coming to an end. In my mind, it'd be hard to pass up the opportunity for such a full circle moment with how the whole thing was born out of their Revolution match. I'd honestly be fine with Pac or Claudio being the guy for the same reason (even if there are probably other matches I'd rather see as Dragon's last, and I'm guessing you feel similarly). 2 hours ago, SovietShooter said: Like, when it is all said and done, I can see Darby being like a five time AEW champ, but his total title reigns adding up to like 90 days. The money is in the chase. Strongly agree with this, not just for the mileage reason you and Natch mentioned, but because I think his character works best as that perennial underdog. If I had the pencil, I'd be really tempted to do something similar to when Dreamer beat Taz for the ECW WHC and immediately dropped it to Credible. You have Darby go over Danielson at WrestleDream in this big hometown moment, maybe Sting's there in his Main Event Mafia suit along with some other buddies and family to make it seem like a huge deal, then afterward you have Christian cash the contract in on Darby. The key here is to have Nick Wayne, as the other hometown boy, involved in the Christian finish so you're set up perfectly to return to *that* issue while Christian's off defending against a returning Edge, a returning Cole, a returning Swerve, or whoever the next babyface up is (plus great tag matches along the way to keep Darby/Wayne in the main event picture). ---- ETA: One thing I really, really, really don't want out of this angle (but have been living in fear of since Mox's 'Its not your company anymore' line) is any kind of "Originals vs New Guys" or NWO-esque conflict. The Elite stuff made sense in the early days as a way to introduce Kenny/Hangman/The Bucks to the US cable audience by linking em with known TV commodities Cody, Gallows/Anderson, and KENTA to signal "Hey America, these guys are a big f'n deal," but I'm not sure its necessary at this point of AEW's life cycle, nor do I think it would be as effective. I think nü-BCC could easily take (for example) a re-signed Danny Garcia, or a poached-from-STP Lee Moriarty under their wing or introduce a newly signed Hurt Business, as simply men who share their house ethos without going full "AH'M GONNA KILL MAH CREATION" or "F.U.N.B." with it. I'm curious about this as a possible direction because I've been wondering to myself if Mox's NJPW music is any kind of story clue, or if it's simply being used because it's less likely to get a babyface pop than "Wild Thing" or "Unscripted Violence" Edited September 14 by Zakk_Sabbath 1

HarryArchieGus Posted September 14 Posted September 14 (edited) Fun show C! OC/OR/Briscoe v Dark Order was a fairly entertaining opener. A bit heavy on the comedy, but they could mostly pull it off. O'Reilly had a sequence in here that was faster than the speed of light (so to speak). If you didn't know these competitors, Reynolds' ridiculous tan would suggest he's the wrestler named 'Orange'. The Taven/Bennett/Sammy/Dustin promo seemed to range from excellent to stiff. Dustin and the heels mostly the former, Sammy all the way the latter. Kamille v Renegade was a fine showcase. Kamille's finish needs little more oomph from this big beautiful bad ass. Christopher Daniels promo was unintentionally hilarious. Everything the Fallen Angel is doing as the 'interim EVP' (this name even is unintentionally hilarious) feels overwrought. If anybody cared - Daniels booking himself in a TNT title match would be considered an abuse of power. Fortunately, nobody gives a shit - especially on a Friday or Saturday night. Then Roddy vs Beef... 8 hours ago, Technico Support said: Big Beef Gnarls Garvin on national TV fuck yeah. I watched him doing shows in an empty bar for Paradigm Pro during the pandemic. Dude is a talent. Yeah, impressive debut. He made a memorable impression and worked extremely well with Strong. Aesthetically (tattoo-ily) he feels like a better fit with Henry than the injured pasty cowpoke. Not to say I don't love and miss JD. They set up some nice spots for Beef here. Clearly, they have some interest in him. I might need to research this sumbitch on youchoob. Saraya/Harley v Kay/Belle was a fun little TV showcase. I love this Harley/Saraya team. They're such entertaining throwback heels. Their shit is simple and effective and looked good here. Harley is insane fun with her silly shrieks and general bad behaviour. Saraya as this kind of old maid nasty heel completely rules. And then Hayter rolls out from the set of a 70s TV crime drama. The whole costume looked fantastic with her great flowing hairdoo. Takeshita v 'The Sight To See' was fine. Haha, so funny thinking of Andretti coming up with that lame line and asking his costume maker to throw that on the seat of his pants. Enjoyable enough match, but I kept wanting Takeshita to just murder him. Chia Head shows great tools in the ring, but his character is so incredibly lame that my innercheer is for him to be mercilessly beaten. I suppose I look forward to him as a future heel. The Raging Fire is a nice finish, but its far too similar to the Blue Thunder Bomb which is arguably the more exciting and stronger move. I'd love to see him drop one of them. The C show 'is just alright with me'. Edited September 14 by HarryArchieGus 2

Back in my day, the NWA promotion I worked for in Pittsburgh was constantly going back to this well. It is so simple and effortless, but it gets old so quick... it's lazy booking. I really hope that whatever Mox is doing here, it isn't a "protecting my spot" angle (although I think that is probably what direction that the Bucks are headed to). I'm getting a sense that Mox's motivation is more about "protecting the business" and "keeping it serious", but we shall see... 1

I would think that would be off limits to the position, but I guess he's not the GM or Commissioner or President, but rather 'Interim EVP', and a regular EVP can wrestle whenever they like. So, yeah, you're totally right. 1

Haha I get what you mean obviously, but just to clarify for anyone else, I meant this in the sense that to a previously-WWE-only viewer of a then-brand new promotion, it was two guys that were fresh off a Mania match with Styles/Undertaker and were 200x Raw Tag Champs or whatever
