Mister TV
1 hour ago, odessasteps said: Forgot what a great theme this was That’s a show I know of purely by the commercials and promos from back in the day, never watched an episode and had no clue it took place in Los Angeles. J.H.
Man... Matt Houston is a throwback to the rich playboy detective that is sorely nissing on TV today. I am assume Buddy Ebsen got added in S2 so he could skide into his Jed Clampett voice James

odessasteps
Since YouTube keeps giving me tv theme songs …. one day at a time: Who remembers richard Masur in the early years and Howard Hessemam at the end? Tom boy Valerie Bertenelli in the early years? Nanette Fabray?

They brought in some Italian kid named Alex towards the end, Eight is Enough did the same thing when they brought in Ralph Macchio.
odessasteps
I didn’t mention the people I remembered like Glen Scarpelli and Michael Lembeck. Or even Boyd Gaines, one of those “oh that guy” from 80s TV.
Casey
I might literally be the only person here who cares, but The Ones Who Live premiered tonight and you know what? I like it a lot. But I also haven’t watched any other Walking Dead show, except for like 20 minutes of the Maggie & Negan show (I didn’t like it). The cliffhanger tonight actually left me wanting more, so good for them.
(BP)
Haven’t watched it yet, but I’m looking forward to it. The Daryl show isn’t very good, but it’s significantly better than Dead City, mostly because it’s shot on real locations in France. Its biggest problem is that it’s another Lone Wolf and Cub knockoff. Everyone needs to leave that poor dead horse alone and come up with a new idea, especially if it’s for a post apocalyptic zombie series. We made it almost all the way through Fear the Walking Dead and tapped out a few episodes from the finale because it truly seemed to be scripted by Chatgpt. I've never heard of this show until today but I'm now seeking it out. Looks awesome.
odessasteps
It’s one of many 1980s action/detective shows. Probably solidly in the middle of the pack of them. Some of us of a certain probably have a soft spot for the show purely based on it co-starring Pamela Hensley, who was a young/teen favorite from being the baddie on Buck Rogers. Curt McGirt
Did they start with Japanese like the original series or immediately have people speaking English?

Japanese characters speak subtitled Japanese. English characters speak English, obviously. But, there are Portuguese characters who are said to be speaking Portuguese, but it is presented in English. Raziel
I'm guessing it's just easier to have everyone not Japanese speaking english for viewing than everyone try and act in Portuguese (and to be honest, at that time they really all *would* have been speaking either Japanese or Portuguese). It does look like we're getting more of the intrigue around Toranaga's rise than everything directly from Blackthorne's POV like the book/miniseries. I'm good with the first episode, even if it did breeze through getting Blackthorne to Osaka
driver
Being a man of a certain age I remember when the miniseries aired, but I never saw a second of it. It definitely had to have aired during a Sweeps period(because that's when miniseries and "Very Special Episodes" seemed to air). I watched the first episode and liked it. Haven't watched the second episode yet. I like what I've seen so far.
Curt McGirt
They could have always dubbed it in Portuguese, even if they had to do it in English? May have gotten ridiculed but I'm sure modern technology could have tweaked it enough to work, right?

Or just hire actors who speak Portuguese, you know the sixth most spoken language on the planet.
Curt McGirt
I ignored that idea because I figured they had their cast picks set and weren't gonna bother with that.
Raziel
Well, when you get to it, only one character in this show actually speaks English. The crew of the Erasmus would all be speaking Dutch. So, yeah, you'd have to find at least one actor that spoke all 3, then enough Japanese actors that spoke Portuguese, then enough Dutch actors that spoke Portuguese. Oh, then there's the Franciscan, who would be speaking Latin, which Blackthorn and Mariko also speak... Or it's just easier to use 2 languages and whatever. RIPPA
Sugar Colin Farrell, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler and Alex Hernandez. First two episodes April 5, then one every Friday for a total of
Dolfan in NYC
Jim Parsons has been confirmed for the finale of Young Sheldon. Also... And here I was under the impression that the sequel to YS was just Big Bang Theory... (EDIT -- Oh wait, it's about the brother on the show.) Curt McGirt
I looked up at the TV the other night to see an ad for the REELZ Channel Cops re-runs that they air all the time (alongside On Patrol) and it had footage of a cop doing a full-sprint, 40-yard field goal kick to someone's groin. Followed by people weeping in the back of squad cars. I know we as a country are full of bootlickers but this cop porn is just the worst. It got cancelled after the George Floyd protests, but here it is again, finding its own dark corner of the airwaves. 1
