Gambling scandals

I'm kind of surprised they were going to let him bet $15k, since even that would be super suspicious. The only people in Ohio betting five figures on regular season SEC college baseball games have insider info, or have a severe gambling addiction and should have their bets turned away.

Presenting the worlds dumbest gambler

He showed the staff at the sportsbook the text and told them who it was from!

That man was too dumb to do crimes.

Apparently bet on multiple NBA games along with the parlay fuckery. He didn't play in any of the games he bet on, but he did bet on the Raptors to lose three different times.

there's plenty of basketball leagues all around the world and I suspect that Jontay could get admitted into the country for some of them as long as the government/team didn't mind the whole gambling accusations thing

which means he's gonna get deported from Greece or imprisoned in Russia within the next 2 years

I love sports more than almost anything but even I'm past the breaking point with literally 75% of the ads for televised sporting event being fucking gambling.

I'm doubly salty about this as a former Online Poker Enjoyer who watched the DOJ treat that like it was akin to a cocaine smuggling ring just 15 years ago, but now that the NFL and the MLB get their own pies, oh hey it's a miracle gambling is good now. Fuck you.

I am so unbelievably tired of the sports gambling ads. And incorporating lines and similar into the broadcasts.

I have no idea where this should go but I am guessing that eventually it will be considered a scandal.   Apparently Dave and Busters thinks that the only thing missing from their arcade is GAMBLING.   I must say I am curious how they are going to set it up to make sure that the biggest (and probably oldest) degenerate starts putting $10 on little kids at the Pop a Shot

Why would anyone need an app for this kind of betting amongst friends, co-workers, and so on? The "bet ya $10 on pop-a-shot basketball or air hockey" has been going on forever.

How are the shareholders supposed to get their beaks wet from that!?

I'm less concerned about scandal and more about altercations breaking out.

Has anyone ever had the miserable experience of sitting through a sporting event watching on t.v. with a bunch of people while that one guy has money riding on the game and suddenly he's sitting there like Jake LaMotta the whole time?

It's not fun. Sports gamblers are among the least fun people to watch anything with. It's tense and kind of ugly and sucks the joy out of the room.

So yeah let's bring that to every social space we possible can.

One of the players at West Ham may be in some trouble, but not super trouble, of picking up yellow cards and people back in Brazil betti g on it. And apparently it was flagged by the company that is West Ham’s shirt sponsor.

one of the reasons i dropped out of most of the fantasy leagues i was in was because of how miserable i would be watching the games. it went from "cool, i have a reason to be invested in a game i normally wouldn't care about" to stewing all day. plus being in a couple dynasty leagues and never getting a break from it. i don't want to be thinking about the nfl in mid-march.

and that's in $100 per season leagues. i couldn't imagine having hundreds of dollars in games each week. i would eventually murder someone

I learned long ago that being in rotisserie leagues is often at odds to be a devoted fan. I would never win because I would not pick players on teams I hated, who were often the better teams (Yankees, eagles, flyers, etc).

I quit doing fantasy when I was watching a game where one of "my" players got hurt. My first thought was "how does this affect my team?" with not a hint of concern for the well-being of that very real person. I was disgusted with myself and immediately quit.
