That match was a blast.  I got a neat Magnitude Kishiwada vibe from Matanza, so he's aces in my book.  Can't wait for the inevitable showdown with he and someone like Cage.  I'd almost bring in Big Ryck for a one off to REALLY get Matanza over.

Jack Evans took a fucking beating in that match, good lord. That wide shot of the action in the ring with Jack rolling down the steps in the background had me laughing so hard.

I thought they did a good job showcasing the new guys. Rey looked more spry than his last year or so in WWE, Dragon Azteca looked good in his limited action but didn't give too much away, and TMMC wrecked things as he should. I wonder if Catrina has any recourse against Los Hermanos Cueto for not being an offical entrant. I mean she can keep Pentagon out, but Matanza can just waltz in as #21 with no invite? The Pentagon/Mil interaction was perfect and is a good way to keep them away from the Matanza destruction. One little thing I liked early in the match was Evans teaming up with Mundo and Taya. I'd like to see those three challenge for the trios belts after Cage/Mundo finishes up.

Can we talk about how Mundo has actually been a damn good heel?  The spot where he was getting stomped, rolled out, then tried to join in on the stomping was so fantastic.

Ahh I thought they had made it in and he was happy

WAY TO RUIN THE FEEL GOOD STORY OF THE YEAR ROB

Life sucks, then you die.

Or you go on a weekend trip to your first Lucha Underground tapings, finally meet some dude you think is cool & then have a front row seat to watching him cheer a monster beat up your hero.

Finally got around to this last night and top to bottom loved it. Not much to say that hasn't been said, but just wanted to spread some more love. And I loved Matanza as the monster lucha and not just some big beast Abyss type guy.

Mundo's been great from the moment he turned. The window moment with Alberto, his work in the all night long match, and his total cowardice against Cage while Taya was taking an obscene beatdown have all been top-notch heel work. He also had a great moment in S1 where The Crew jumped Texano during their match, and Mundo just shrugged and joined in because why not. And he said Prince Puma wore "giraffe tights." I thought he was perfectly fine as a face too, but he's had that upper midcard heel spot on lockdown since he turned.

Unrelated, but I also can't wait to see what poor jobber gets fleeced out of his money by Famous B.

That match was awesome. You know how the Royal Rumble always hypes about the chaos and the unpredictability of it and it hasn't been in 4 years. This match was unbridled chaos. The wide shot of the arena killed me as you can see Jack Evans suddenly rolling down the steps and like 6 different fights going on. I also like how everyone interacted with each other throughout the match which made everything come together. There were current feud stories being told and past ones being rehashed as if to remind you that Lucha Underground is a character driven show. Everyone's personality and moveset shined here. Mantanza did not disappoint me at all although like everyone else, I was expecting a monster, but being a monster is all in the presence and not the size as we all are aware just by watching the Wyatt Family.

Evans rolling down the stairs is a top moment in Lucha Underground history. Only could this show have a guy getting seriously thrown down a staircase be an afterthought (more likely, the camera operators missed it). I had to watch it three times to fully appreciate the little bit that was captured on tape.

Mack stopping himself while halfway into the ring, sliding back out, hitting the stunner on Marty, then rolling back in was another great touch in a match full of rivalry moments.

Aero Star's all red gear fucking rules, too. I was so happy when his entrance pop was one of the loudest the entire match.

Hopefully they can improve on Matanza's mask underneath the really cool, main mask so he doesn't have to fidget around with the badass one. Otherwise, that was a fantastic debut.

Pentagon has gone 100% early Stone Cold.

From a live perspective - there was so much happening by the middle of the match when like 12-13 guys were all out there. Drago/Jack brawling in the crowd before Darewolf came out went much longer than was shown on TV. They came to our section for a good 30-40 seconds which wasn't shown. Then Jack got hiptossed over the balcony which was shown and they brawled up the bleaches which only a bit was shown. Drago ended up throwing Jack from near the top of the stairs all the way down.

Another spot I seem to recall not seeing on TV was Famous B handing Puma a card and while Puma was reading it someone superkicked him. LOL Later on someone knocked all the cards out of Famous B's hand into the air. I'm happy they didn't edit out the part where Famous B ran up to the handcuffed Joey and handed him a card. :)

Amazing show and everything ruled. It'd been a week and I totally forgot about Matanza throughout the match so that was a nice surprise twist. I figured when Mil went out so quick that Fenix was going to retain, loved all that chaos. Dug the little touch from Striker saying it was a technical difficulty that the clock was running down after #20. Matanza definitely lived up to the hype, was not expecting him to steamroll through everyone like that but it worked perfectly. Taya is awesome, I love her & Mundo as a pairing.

One thing I LOVE about Lucha Underground, is that the announcers(and I'm assuming the live fans) have no idea what happens in the skits.  No fourth wall shit.

I seriously hope Rey stays in Lucha Underground. It was practically made for him and in all earnestly, WWE never appreciated him enough for being someone who literally got over without any kind of push or backing. AAA needs to get their heads out their asses and pay the man.

I rewatched Aztec Warfare and man, that was so fun. There was so much happening. You had Rey Mysterio's return, Jack Evan's, Drago's and PJ Black's war on the outside which evened up when Aerostar came in, you had the Mack getting his comeuppance with Marty the Moth and then coming after Cage, Cage had his thing with Mundo and Taya, Prince Puma tying up with all comers, Dragon Azteca showing why he used to be El Hijo del Mysterio, Famous B trying to solicit his sleeziness to the side, a midget, and a sleezy pornstar cop cowardly handcuffing himself to the fence to prevent being pinned. To top it all off, Mil Muertes gets fucked over by Pentagon stoking a feud between Catrina and Nil and Pentagon and Maestro Vampiro while the backset of Mantanza and Cuerto and his rivalry between Mysterio and Azteca in a shoddy Aztec temple in downtown Los Angeles where Cuerto might be trying to recreate an Aztec blood ritual and using Aztec cursed gold to draw fighters in.

Holy shit this show is amazing. Oh and does Black Lotus/Angela Fong ever do anything in the ring?

Just re-watched the Matanza part of AW... Holy shit, the part where Chavo was trying to make a deal, then when he slides in the ring Dario gives Matanza the throat slash gesture behind Chavo's back was amazing. Great multi-layered heel work from everyone.

They've announced Sexy Star vs Mariposa for tomorrow's broadcast.  Too soon all around - too soon to have them both in a formal match, and too soon to have Sexy Star stink up the ring again.

Posted

Can Cheerleader Melissa drag something out of Sexy Star or will the editors be working overtime? Will Sexy Star hopefully disappear for the rest of the season? Will Marty pull his dick out on camera? So many possibilities.

Posted

I'm intrigued by Troma's hinting at Sexy Star not being awful. If he's the one saying it, it must've been damn impressive.
