The Nature Boy
Box office for actors or directors? Best sellers list for authors? Here's a list of top grossing actors: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/?view=Actor&sort=sumgross&p=.htm Want to take on the argument that Tom Cruise is a better actor than Daniel Day Lewis or that Robert DeNiro's best movie was Meet The Fockers? Money made is the most irrelevant point that one can make when evaluating an artform.

The Nature Boy
But its the valid when talking about Sting. That's only because Meltzer considers it relevant to his Hall of Fame.
Cristobal
There is a place for considering drawing ability when evaluating a wrestler's career. Unless you are a wrestling promoter and the discussion is about booking a particular talent, however, acting like "He never drew a dime" is an argument-ender is inane.

evilwaldo
Yeah, Punk has it going on. He got out before the medical issues caught up with him. He settled the WWE lawsuit so his gear is selling once again, he is in the video game, and best of all getting royalties. There is probably a non-compete but I doubt he cares since he is doing well. Oh yeah, he gets the girl, AJ. Sweet life.
Spritenaut 32
Do they ever fire someone that is making them money? Was Hardy fired and I've just forgotten? Far as I can remember, he left when his contract expired. I think I recall Meltzer saying the company did all it could to resign him (he was massively over and getting pushed pretty heavily at the time). I could see myself buying a PPV for a Dustin Rhodes match, if he had stayed in WCW, gotten pushed further up the card, and continued to wrestle as "Dustin Rhodes". I'm probably in the minority, but Goldust never interested me a bit. I kinda like grizzled vet Dustin putting on the face paint in 2014 for one last run, but that's pretty much it
mco543
Jeff Hardy leaving and then almost immediately getting his house raided by the police is some of the most ridiculous timing I've ever seen. Did some of the more absurd places on the internet ever accuse WWE of tipping them off or something? I've bought shows or DVDs/tapes to see some really weird wrestlers but never explicitly for Dustin, I've always really liked him but he's always been more of a bonus. Cristobal
I recall a lot of talk at the time about WWE knowing what was about to go down was the reason they didn't re-sign him. Never even heard the speculation that it was the other way around.
The Nature Boy
I recall reading that Hardy left because he wanted to take time off and that he was pissed that WWE used his later legal trouble to get heel heat for Punk. It's Jeff Hardy, who the hell knows what's going on?
Ace
Hardy was fired the first time for refusing to go to rehab. That's what led to his first TNA run.
JRGoldman
Dustin Rhodes had a MotY in 1994 and a MotY in 2014. That's bonkers. Even if you for some reason decide to ignore all if his in ring stuff, I think there could be a case that the Goldust character is the single most important character ever in wrestling. Without it getting over to the extent it did, receiving main stream coverage and inciting controversy, I doubt we see the attitude era as quickly or as thoroughly as we did. Zakk_Sabbath
The first time I ever heard the word "faggot" was because in 4th grade this kid Wayne was talking about Goldust in the dugout during little league practice-- thankfully our coach let us know those kinds of words weren't cool to say But tell me that ain't heat
Sky Blue Sam
Was reading the Beyond Wrestling thread, and I ran across a typo that I found most interesting: I presume it was a tag match, but the participants were listed "wrestler A & wrestler B vs. wrestler C *vs. wrestler D" (where * denotes the typo). But what if it wasn't a typo? It's the indies so this is possible. A three-way, but one of the participants is a tag team instead of just another individual. I'm curious how would you book such a match without it becoming a gigantic clusterfuck? Elimination or one fall? How would the tag team dynamic work out? CZW did this once in the qualifiers for Best of the Best 3. In a triple threat, Dunn & Marcos were counted as one entry vs Loco and Menace. It was an elimination and when one of them was pinned, they were both out, leaving the other two in a singles match. It worked pretty well, I remember it being a fun match
