It's actually amazing Jericho came out of WWE as well as he did when you read all the stuff that went on that first half a year or so

if Jericho's WCW contract lasted just six months longer, then he's getting a push in Russo's first run and then he might have jumped with Benoit and friends in January 2000

AEW should really take a look at Dijak in my view.

I'm on record as having previously said that Dijak is one of the reasons I fell in love with NXT so hard during the 2023-4 season, and I'd love to see him on TV again, but the AEW roster is SO bloated that I'm not sure what you do with him. He's not the kind of guy who they're going to give a spot to when they already have 20 great people who they don't have a spot for. I have previously tried to come up with an idea I would fantasy-pitch to justify hiring him, and the best I could do was "tag champs with Big Bill"

Honestly, I think he's better than Bill,  Cage and Archer as far as bigger guys go.  But Khan is a loyal man.

Dijak is a solid hand but like... I feel like his act works online but on an actual show comes off as a good 20% too forced, I feel like I end up rolling my eyes at something he says or does more frequently than I should. He could probably hang around in AEW but they already have such an overstuffed roster, TNA feels about the level he'll end up at.

Happy St Paddy’s Day

Also in conjuncture with what @username was saying in relation to Dijak and TNA now that TNA has a partnership with WWE how many recently released talent are gonna try to get into TNA now as a way to get back into the WWE?

I wonder if WWE has any say, officially or maybe unofficially, in TNA's hiring decisions.  What I'm getting at is, they could conceivably object to TNA hiring someone they released, since that essentially puts that person back in the "WWE system" considering TNA's relationship with them.

depends on if TNA is more of a AA/AAA affiliate of the WWE or if TNA is the Atlantic League where some of the guys there could go directly to the AAA/MLB if an opening arises

I'll take your word for it.  I know almost nothing about baseball.  I was going to tell you the last game I went to was a AA or AAA game, but I looked it up and the team isn't even at that level anymore -- they're something called a "draft league," and I had to look up what that was, too.

in recent years, the Atlantic League has been independent of Major League teams, but MLB has also tested possible rules changes in the Atlantic League and it might serve the legal purposes of MLB to have independent leagues exist

The only thing you should be worried about at a game of that level is if the funnel cake is good.

I’m mostly surrounded by lower league teams. Wilmington and Aberdeen, but also Lancaster, which I think is still in the Atlantic League.

AA/AAA ball is fun because you get to see prospects on their way up or guys on their way down.

Lower-level/unaffiliated ball is fun because sitting the sun watching baseball is almost always better than not sitting in the sun watching baseball.

This thread is depressing. I love minor league baseball.

I am hoping to get to my 50th pro baseball stadium this year. And to tie it into something wrestling related: # 49 will be in Las Vegas when I’m in town for WrestleMania.

Dad & I had season tickets to our local AA team (RIP Wranglers) when I was in high school and it was great fun just to keep score and shoot the shit.

yeah a lot of the appeal of minor league baseball is basically "getting to hang out with friends/family and maybe pay attention to the game"

Wait, are there varieties of baseball with an appeal other than that?

We've got a summer college league team in a suburb north of here that's fun and an independent league team that's pretty fun to go out to see since they do package deals with 5 or more people and you can get a swag bag and unlimited food and drink for like $30 a person. I never remember anything about the games though.

Considering TNA has hired several people WWE has cut (and even had them appear on NXT to further TNA feuds), I don't think it's a big deal. Dijak does seem like someone that would be perfect for a TNA run but maybe the couldn't figure out a price.

Everytime I've gone to a Trenton Thunder minor league game, I've had an absolute blast.  It's an underrated time.

Somerset Patriots games are a good time, too.

Somerset stole the team from the Thunder in the past few years. Trenton is now independent and Somerset is the Yankees team

I have fond memories of Arkansas Travelers games when I was little, and went to one when I was stuck in blind-people rehab in 2010-11, but weirdly I've never been to a Round Rock Express game. I had a friend who was a season ticket holder who kept swearing I had to go to a game with him, and we went to a ton of Austin FC and Texas Stars games, but somehow we never did make it to a baseball game. (We're still friends, but he moved to the DC area for work.)
