Greggulator Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Oh, the ultimate “there is no hope” ending is Dump shaving Chigusa’s head. Duh. That’s the peak. 2 1
Niners Fan in CT Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 I think I'd be higher on the finish if Mox had explained more in his promos of what their motivation is and if the night ended with some sort of "Oh wow! ok!" moment but as is it just feels like the same old same old from Mox and the BCC and I also felt the pass out from Danielson was very abrupt. It's something where I can find myself liking it more down the road if the payoff is something worthwhile. I do think it's leading to Darby revenge tour so that's kinda cool 1

Second, Yuta didn’t look happy to be doing what he did. I’d love for him to come out Wednesday and say something like “Delores Yuta didn’t raise any fools. Mox & the rest of these guys are here today. Bryan isn’t. This was self preservation.” Something like that. He posted earlier in thread about liking Willow/Mariah May. Which makes sense, as Willow is fantastic. 6
Hamhock Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Moxley the character reminds me of someone who secretly can’t read or write, whose hidden shame of his own dullardness fuels his animus and rage towards others - he can’t even express it verbally/logically above a sub-literate level; he just feels and acts. 5 4
ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 I'm hoping Moxley/BCC win all the titles one by one.....slowly they're added to the bag........ I'm still working on the rest. My first two ideas were a big mega title bigger than the Saudi one and b) melting them down for a giant gold chain. This clearly needs workshopping

I don't know why you try to double down and fight it. Very Vince-like. It would be neat if they eventually just spurned Callis, did not turn face, and ended up being the cool heels everybody wants them to be. Now I'm imagining Renee just subtly naming stuff off menus for Mox in restaurants, specifically going for the stuff she knows he likes, and signing for the check because he doesn't know how to do the math for a tip. And him just making long, long passages into a portable tape player (the old kind with the microphone built in) to "write" his book. (Well, I can see that one actually happening, especially considering how it reads.) 1

Curt McGirt Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 The inference that Mox either wasn't in fifth grade or couldn't figure out how to play Oregon Trail in it is even funnier. 4
username Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 I look at the reaction to the main and I have a thought. There are rules to pro wrestling, and it's not that you can't break them but that it is generally a bad idea to do so. AEW booked and promoted a match they ultimately had no intention of delivering in Danielson/Darby (they can theoretically run it a year or four down the road but that's so far in an indeterminate future it isn't really worth considering) and that breaks one of the big ones. On top of that it only became 100% clear this was the case when Mox won the title and even if not recognized on a conscious level I believe the disappointment broke through and shaded the moment. Fans will play along and boo Mox & Co for their dastardly attack but taking away that promised match that people wanted to see that gets directed at the company itself. I think Livingston earlier wrote something about people being distracted by what could have been to the detriment of what actually is... but that overlooks the fact that the could have been was put into the audience's mind by the company itself and if they find that preferable to what was actually delivered or resent it being yanked away it ain't the audience's fault, it was the bookers who decided to play with fire. Or to state it simply: you run this exact same match and aftermath in a world where the Danielson/Darby match took place and it is my honest belief that it'd have been received much better. Other quick thought: I understand why things are this way but I do not envy whoever has to write that first Adam Cole promo back and explain away all his past actions as those of a good guy. Then again, I look at Statlander and maybe they won't even bother. 2
Craig H Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 I want OC to beat Moxley for the title and at the end of the match, look at the title, then look at the black bag they're keeping the title in, give a shruge, put the title in that bag, and then put THAT into OC's Jansport backpack. 6 1

The Natural Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 (edited) Meltzer: Bryan Danielson retired as a full-time wrestler last night after losing the AEW World title to Jon Moxley. There is a lot to say about his career that we talked about on the show last night. He went out the way he wanted and the door is open for a return as a part-timer should he feel up to doing that. As he talked about this past week, it’s not a guarantee as he is going to undergo neck surgery and then he’ll make a decision. History tells us he’ll probably come back at least for some matches although who knows where the BCC will be by the time he’s ready to return. I talked last night about the first time I saw Danielson live, sitting with Nick Bockwinkel and Red Bastien, and their thoughts on that night and how it ended up changing the history of wrestling in a significant way. He got the career he dreamed of and better, and was a real credit to this industry. I know many didn’t like that it ended with a real heat angle and the reality is you just don’t know. In the past, angles like this have greatly boosted business but this is a very different era with different fans. Edited October 14, 2024 by The Natural

I'm the same, I learned how to type when I was like... four or five by hunting and pecking with two fingers, then I was touch-typing with two fingers, then I just got faster with it. I can usually get to 70-75wpm with the pointer fingers, and I occasionally use the middle on my left hand. 3

Matt D Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Do note that I did have a point there! It’s not a judgment on how anyone is typing! I don't know if I actually needed that bit but I want to get across the idea that he's not like a lot of long time pro wrestling fans who had a shared online experience. Danielson, Punk, Hero, Eddie. They're all like them. If you read Mox's book, he's something else entirely. 1
