The Natural Posted October 13 Posted October 13 (edited) Be glad when the TNT Championship is off Jack Perry and the AEW World Tag Team Championship are gone from the Young Bucks but I fear it's not happening anytime soon. Edited October 13 by The Natural 1

Mr. Monday Morning Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I will die on the hill that says the finish would've gone over a lot better if they'd done 3 arm drops, instead of Bryce just making the call himself. When did this become a thing anyway? You don't just use the 3 drop for the babyface to hold their arm at the last millisecond, you use it to stretch out the audience's investment/pain/whatever to the bitter end when they realise the person they were cheering on has been defeated - its the same as a long slow 3 count after the heel has cheated and the ref has crawled back in without seeing it (I guess you could call it the Hebner special) Something in my head says this has come from MMA and fights being waved off at the ref's discretion. Fuck that, this is pro wrestling god dammit. 10 1
Octopus Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Only watched the main. I’ll try and go back for hyped matches when I have time. I loved it. The match made sense. Mox was a bully attacking early and the entire match he was targeting the neck. Danielson was pumping the crowd up like Daniel Bryan. Shafir played her roll perfectly. It was a fun match and a great ending note to what was a short but personally emotionally noteworthy title run. With the idea that Danielson likely really needs surgery, I like this outcome the most, even if I would have fantasy done something different. Darby will overcome the Mox monster and the Pacpool Combat Club at Quake by the Lake 2. I like Mox, so as people that don’t I totally understand not being pro this move. I thought it was the right move. Doesn’t mean they won’t screw up the future moves though lol If Darby beat a broken Danielson it wouldn’t have meant as much than if Danielson’s gimmick wasn’t legend on his last legs that has the heart to fight through. Plus, the amount of crazy dives that Danielson would super sell would have given us heart attacks and ruin the match for half of you. Darby beating Mox while both are bloody will win over even the Mox-haters. Especially after overcoming a character defining setback of losing the title contender-ship. 5
just drew Posted October 13 Posted October 13 7 minutes ago, Casey said: who cares if Bryan asked for it, doesn’t mean it was the right call. You 100% wouldn’t be saying that if Bryan wanted to lose to Adam Cole. Nope, I sure wouldn’t, because no one believes adam Cole could be a monster that needs slaying. Mox is AEW’s fire breathing dragon. Adam Cole is, on his best day, AEW’s coughing gecko. Theres nothing to hate about Jon Moxley. He’s a great worker, the best English promo in the business (I don’t speak Spanish or Japanese, so I can’t say he’s the best on earth), and this storyline is compelling. I’m excited to see Dynamite Wednesday, and to see how this plays out over the next few weeks. I’m a little bummed to see Takeshita get Ricky Starks’ push, but Takeshita also rules, so there’s that. Now, if these bum ass tag champs could be bothered to do business, AEW would be cooking on all burners again… 1
Octopus Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I like Mox, but he’s super unorthodox in how he moves and has a swagger to him that is pretty defining. I really enjoy him but I can see why people are put off by him. All is fair in love and internet wrestling forums. 2 1

For Great Justice Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I change my mind, it isn’t Empire Strikes back. You know what it reminded me of? That crazy bastard Kefka/Mox did it. He actually did it. He aligned the 3 statues on the Floating Continent and the World of Balance is fucking toast. Done. Now it’s up to Darby, OC, Garcia, Locke, Celes, Shadow and the boys to get a crew together and save the world, even after so much is already lost. 6
Go2Sleep Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Triple threat (even with the literal screwjob), and Hologram/Mortos were great sprints. I was pleasantly surprised by the tag title match with Private Party actually building up some good heat at the end. Main event was a really good match, with the finish and show-closing stuff being... a choice. I feel they could've made the finish a bit more dramatic and maybe ended it with the Gotch-style piledriver after Bryan fought through the choke instead of the other way around. Not really sure about the stretcher job and how long it took, but I did like the detail of Mox not even touching the belt and putting it in a bag. Lends some credence to the higher power angle and Darby as the guerrilla resistance leader is a cool direction. Wheeler siding with BCC is fine in and of itself, but the build up was sloppy on Dynamite. They could've set that up a lot better. There's potential for this angle in both directions. Low floor, high ceiling. 1

Kevin Wilson Posted October 13 Posted October 13 41 minutes ago, Nice Guy Eddie said: Does anyone possibly see an Elite face turn when the Young Bucks realize they can't control Moxley and co. who decide to go after the Elite's gold? My brother and I discussed this while we were watching. Its 100% possible but the problem is I think its harder with them all holding titles. Its rare for a wrestler to switch sides while having the belt, usually its done in the process of winning it or after losing it. I can see that happening down the road in a few months but at least a few of them have to lose titles first or it would be weird and probably harder to pull off. And I don't believe for a second the crowd wouldn't cheer the Young Bucks, the crowd would have cheered for them tonight if they ran down to save Danielson. AEW crowds really will cheer or boo anyone, they were cheering Takeshita against Ospreay even though he was doing evil heel things. So getting the crowd to cheer Young Bucks and Okada would be easy. Perry would be harder as I don't think his current character has gone through his full arch yet, so I may keep him heel even if the rest of the Elite go face. 1
WebConn89 Posted October 13 Posted October 13 (edited) You would think that The Bucks would make killer heels they seem like they’d be super unlikable but there’s something that doesn’t click I think it’s the heel characters they adapted it seems forced like they don’t seem like they kind of guys that would wear the fancy gold they should be more chicken shit not do the super kicks and all the movez they should be doing headlocks and running away from there opponents. Also I really don’t think the AEW fan base really want to boo The Bucks. They still do shit that the Face Bucks would do like tonight for example when they squashed their pumps before the super kicks that’s something they would do as faces. HumanChessgame Posted October 13 Posted October 13 (edited) I don't have a problem with the finish of the main event from a storyline standpoint (agreed with the ref stoppage being too sudden though), just putting the title on Moxley and using him as the top guy yet again when he's still terrible. Wheeler turning was about 50/50 for me, but I think that made sense as I predict he eventually turns back face and will elicit a massive pop when doing so. People have been speculating on who the next top of the card face is going to be and I had another idea based on the results tonight - Brody King didn't come out in the usual HoB gear and entrance and acted like a face at the end of the match. He's seemingly out on his own now and while I think he's a natural heel, he'd be a great wrestler to groom for a main event role. Did a match get cut? I swear there was another women's match booked and just double checked to see Mercedes didn't defend her title. Edited October 13 by HumanChessgame 1
The Natural Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Bryan Alvarez asked when Takeshita determined he wanted to become a pro wrestler. Takeshita said that wrestling is the best sport, and it is the all-time best. Callis called Alvarez a stooge. --- Callis is right. 1
The Natural Posted October 13 Posted October 13 We need Marina Shafir wrestling again, she's the only member of the new BCC not to. I looked on cagematch the other day and her last match in an AEW ring was against Ruby Soho on AEW Rampage, 27th December 2023. 1

barrybonanza Posted October 13 Posted October 13 (edited) 367. 12/10/2024. AEW Wrestledream. Bryan Danielson vs Jon Moxley. **** 1/4. Watched: 13/10/2024. Even though it's been done a couple times by now, fighting to the final countdown is still pretty thrilling. I liked Danielson desperately trying to get the match over with as quickly as possible. Also enjoyed the edge to Danielson's baby face performance. wherever Moxley tried to take it (choking with wires, biting, moves on concrete) Danielson gave back just as hard. Loved the little detail of the bravado of the 1-1 trade in the middle of the ring, Danielson desperate to fight with the heart he's always been known for. It was nice to see Mcguinness has had some respect beaten into him, playing a respectful foe instead of his usual highly annoying persona. JR's limited schedule seems to be working well too, he's coming across far less like a doddery old man nowadays. There is no finer example of the improvisational element of pro wrestling than the crowd willing Danielson to kick Mox's head in, Danielson feeling the crowds energy and leaning into it with his trademark move. There is little as quintessentially Bryan Danielson as the finish, handing the reigns over to Moxley was the obvious decision, but the correct one. I enjoyed the match, a little long in the tooth, but the show closing segment was unreal. So rarely AEW's forte, this was pitch perfect, the crowd stunned afterwards, a perfect subversion of the usual sappy final match goodbye. Yuta's betrayal worked well, the roster desperately trying to save Danielson, the implications moving forward, all great. Fantastic work all around, the most selfless man in pro wrestling giving back once again in his final act as a full time wrestler. Edited October 13 by barrybonanza 2 1
Infinit Posted October 13 Posted October 13 One thing that rubbed me the wrong way about the finish, is as Bryce called it, Dragon had his hands back up to fight the choke. At first I thought there would be some sort of Tony Khan match restart. 2
DreamBroken Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Fun Zero Hour. Popped for the Rico involvement/interaction with Billy and would love to see him stick around with MxM. Anna Jay looked good against Harley. nice surprise ROH TV title win for Brian Cage. was kinda shocked to see Jay White go over Hangman straight up like that, wasn't expecting that at all. Mariah vs Willow ruled, the pop for Willow pulling Mariah up for the super bomb was epic only to get countered leading to the finish. Enjoyed the MJF/Cole returns and back to the original settings after Cole turned heel, MJF took him out as a face then turned heel, and now Cole seemingly turns back face to take out MJF once again. The way it began was always the best way. Better Than You Bay Bay Full Circle. Highly disappointed by Kyle Fletcher turning. Thought they had something with him breaking out as a babyface the past few months, so this felt like a step back to me. After this happened, I was feeling like surely now they won't turn Yuta so was sad to see that also take place later, felt kind of unnecessary to me taking place after the match was already over. thought Bucks/Private Party was fantastic. Really good job heating up Private Party to quite suddenly feel like a legit threat to the titles and at times feel like they might really pull it off. Briscoe/Jericho was pretty fun, good solid win for Mark. Main event was great overall. Loved the opening brawl to the Final Countdown. Didn't think Bryan's reign would end so quickly and sad to see the full time career come to an end but a solid different overall closing angle with the somber tone sadness. Excalibur sounding on the verge of tears, Tony Khan not showing up for the media scrum for the first time to go to the hospital with Bryan, etc. Looking forward to where things go next. 1

Oh wow I hadn't heard about Khan not attending the media scrum, that's such a great detail, especially considering how ever present he is at those. The storyline so far's had a few nice storyline touches like that. AEW's media refusing to show the first plastic bag incident would be another of those. 2
Casey Posted October 13 Posted October 13 If you want the real reason why TK wasn’t there, the Jags play in London in a few hours. Perfect opportunity to do some kayfabe since the boss had to chug like 16 cups of coffee and get on a plane.
