hammerva Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 It is so weird that I was rooting for Duke to win the game given how much I hate the basketball team and everything it stands for
Kuetsar Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 It is so weird that I was rooting for Duke to win the game given how much I hate the basketball team and everything it stands for Well being long suffering programs tends to make one an underdog. . .
Brian Fowler Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 It is very much the dichotomy of Duke. Outside of fans of their particular rivals, you don't find very many people who hate Duke football. But lord do we hate their basketball program. Some will argue it's about success or jealousy. I disagree. It's simply because Christian Laetner never played football at Duke. 2
cubbymark Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Nope. No. I'm sorry A&M. You don't get to give up 48 to Duke and then chant SEC afterwards. 100% agree. One of these days, the SEC will get the rightful curb stomping they deserve. I'm of the belief they can only do this when they curbstomp lower teams. However, when Hawaii got stomped in a BCS game, it didn't make sense to call them overrated when the SEC team playing them had a higher ranking.
Ryan Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 An AP Photographer collapsed after a heart attack after the A&M/Duke game. He has apparently died, so that sucks. Name was Dave Martin, he seems to be pretty well known. If I had to guess, I'd say he was in his late 50's. Associated Press photographer Dave Martin died of “an apparent heart attack” after collapsing at the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Tuesday, according to Georgia Dome officials. Martin, based out of Montgomery, Ala., collapsed at 11:45 p.m. Medics could be seen performing CPR on Martin before he was put on a stretcher and taken to Emory University Hospital Midtown. Martin died at approximately 12:30 a.m. -The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
EVA Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Dear God. I think those backup singers doing the anthem for the Rose Bowl just proved fairly conclusively why they never got closer than 20 feet from stardom.
Josh Mann Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 If Plaxico Burress had one game left of eligibility for MSU and used a stepladder that STLL wouldn't have been a catchable ball that they called pass interference on.
Ryan Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 This Stanford band half time show is confusing and weird.
hammerva Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Man that was a terrible drive by Stanford. Even if they would have gotten the 1st they were going so slow it didn't seemed like they would make mid field in time.
Brian Fowler Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I'm telling you guys, Texas needs to give up on flashy offensive geniuses and just drive that dump truck full of money to East Lansing. 2 straight years that nobody has scored more than 28 points against Sparty. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year.
hammerva Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Central Florida is a tough team but I am not sure they have seen anything like Baylor. Could be ugly early.

SirFozzie Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Wow.. Baylor coming out flat, UCF coming out gangbusters.. will it last? Or to paraphrase from the Rocky Movies... "They don't think it's a show... they think it's a damn game!"
Justin877 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 UCF-Baylor is starting to look really interesting
Josh Mann Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Enjoy the Big 10-Pac 12 Rose Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl being the haven for the plucky midmajor now, since it all goes to hell next year.
Niners Fan in CT Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Entertaining game so far. UCF has some talent. I still expect Baylor to win but.. if they lose they'll just pretend that they weren't up for the game.
Dewar Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 This is the biggest game in the history of Baylor's football program. They don't get to pull the "we weren't up for the game" card.
EVA Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Yeah, Baylor just won their conference title and are playing in their 1st ever BCS game. There's no reason for them not to be up for this. I think this is really just a case of the public underestimating UCF. It stands for Central FLORIDA, you know. They do an excellent job of scooping up a lot of great talent that slips through the cracks in that state, and every 4 or 5 years, they put together a damn good team. And this year, they've lucked into an elite QB, which just takes them to the next level.
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 Yeah, Baylor's not helping themselves here in getting penalties on every big play. That DPI was inexcusable. Hell, two refs caught him doing it.
EVA Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 And let's not forget, Baylor's defense is garbage 24/7. This is not an out-of-the-blue occurrence. Like Oregon, it looks a lot better than it is when the offense is shooting the lights out, but when the offense struggles and they're not playing against one dimensional opponents, they are fucked.
EVA Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Case in point: Storm Johnson. Went to Miami, didn't work out there for whatever reason, UCF snags him off the waiver wire. Really good player.
The Erotic Terrorist Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 While it is disgraceful the field is so bad it has had an impact on this major college game, I am glad UCF is pulling the upset. I know a number of people who graduated from there.
Niners Fan in CT Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Central Florida has played a great game but I'm still not sure what to think of Blake Bortles on the pro level. I'm getting a Blaine Gabbert vibe... not that I think he's destined to fail just that I wouldn't want to risk a first on him. He should also sit for a while. Don't throw him right in there on a bad team.
