Fall Brawl 2000 9/17-From the City of (Almost) Champions: Buffalo, NY-Opening video features animation with the action figures of featured wrestlers mimmicking their movements that are shown in the video. It's...something.-Hosts are Tony, Hudson, & Madden-Match 1 for the Cruiserweight Championship: Elix Skipper [c] (w/Major Gunns) VS Kwee Wee (w/Paisley)-Gunns is still a reluctant member of Team Canada, having not turned all the way yet. Kwee Wee gets a fast start, slamming Skipper right on his face, then hitting a dropkick to send Skipper outside. They keep a brisk pace, and maybe it's too fast for them, since they botch a leapfrog. Skipper does a springboard back flip in order to hit a kidney punch and a full nelson suplex for two. Skipper hits a slingshot legdrop as Tony speculates that Skipper never actually played in the CFL.Kwee Wee fights out of a sleeper, then they botch another spot as Kwee Wee dives at Skipper and they're both supposed to go out over the top, but Skipper can't quite make it over, and he ends up dumping Kwee Wee on the floor...then tumbles over the top himself a good five seconds later. Skipper hits an Asai moonsault, kicking a camera in the process. Skipper looks to finish with the Overdrive, but Kwee Wee counters with a powerbomb. The Natural Born Thrillers come out to watch from the ramp.Kwee Wee fires up and tosses Skipper out over the top, and Skipper rolls right into the guardrail. Kwee Wee drops Skipper on the guardrail, but as the ref checks on Skipper, Mike Sanders sneaks in and cracks Kwee Wee across the back with a stickball bat. Kwee Wee reverses a crossbody off the top for two, but Skipper bridges to avoid a clothesline, hits a chop block, and finishes with the Overdrive to retain. This was a pretty good opener despite the botches. Didn't need the interference from Sanders at all.-The crew talk about the rest of the big matches.-3 Count perform "Can't Get You Out of My Heart".-Match 2: 3 Count VS Cpl. Cajun, Lt. Loco, & Sgt. AWOL-Wall brings a table with him. Chavo & Shannon start, and Chavo quickly hits a wheelbarrow slam before tagging in Lash as the crew talk about Jim Duggan passing the ultra-patriotic torch to Gen. Rection. In short order poor Shane gets stuck with Wall, and takes a big gorilla press into a spinebuster for two, with Evan & Shannon making the save. Lash gets in, but promptly takes a Samoan drop/neckbreaker combo from Shane & Shannon for two. Shannon hits Lash with a Rocker Dropper for two, with Chavo making the save.Shannon & Evan hit a nice suplex/cross-body combo on Lash for two. Lash settles into the FIP role, taking punishment from all three members of 3 Count until he avoids a corner splash by Shannon, and follows up with a springboard X-Factor before tagging in The Wall. The Wall cleans house until he takes a low blow from Shane. There's a series of dives, and Wall blocks Shane's attempt and tries to chokeslam him through the table. When Evan & Shannon stop him, Wall lifts Shannon by his hair, but takes a superkick from Shane to put Wall through the table. The match completely breaks down, and Lash finishes Shane with what I can best describe as a TKO turned into a Michinoku Driver. This was pretty fun, and this show is 2-for-2 so far.-Nash, Jarrett, & BPP blow off a kid looking for autographs, with Nash trying to hit the kid up for money, but turning him down when he only has $1.50.-Match 3: The Harris Twins VS KroniK [Chain Match]-Adams challenges the Twins to add First Blood stips on top, and it's apparently agreed to. They immediately go outside and into the crowd. Pretty aimless brawling follows, and *sigh* the ref gets bumped. Ron is busted open, but he gets a chain-covered baseball bat from...somewhere, and uncuffs himself. Adams gets busted open, which the ref sees first thing when he comes to. KroniK give the ref High Times after the match. Good match streak over.-Pamela interviews Gen. Rection, who dedicates the match to Jim Duggan, who pops in at the end to announce that he has been named a special enforcer.-Match 4 for the United States Championship: Lance Storm [c] (w/Major Gunns) VS Gen. Rection [special Enforcer: Jim Duggan]-Rection controls the early going, until Storm hits a Mule Kick low blow to turn the tide. Storm sends Rection outside and follows with a springboard dive, but turns to taunt Duggan, allowing Rection to make a comeback. Back in the ring, Rection hits a powerslam for two. Rection hits a gutwrench powerbomb for two. Storm comes back with a Dragon Screw, but Rection blocks the Canadian Maple Leaf, and hits a release German suplex before clotheslining Storm outside, where Duggan throws him back in.Rection goes for the moonsault with Duggan urging him on. Gunn distracts the ref (for no apparent reason) allowing Duggan to crack Rection with the 2X4. Storm applies the Maple Leaf and the ref stops the match. Duggan bumps the ref, and reveals a maple leaf t-shirt under his referee shirt. The match was decent enough before the ridiculous turn by Duggan.-Mean Gene interviews Mike Sanders, who does a Konnan impression. Gene gets testy with the Thrillers, and almost gets punched out by O'Haire.-Match 5: Natural Born Thrillers VS Filthy Animals, Big Vito, & ??? (w/Tygress) [Elimination Match]-The Animals (who are now faces) bring out a mystery man covered in a towel. Shawn Stasiak joins the announce table. The mystery man is revealed to be Paul Orndorff, the lead trainer at the Power Plant. So it's Jindrak, O'Haire, Palumbo, Johnny the Bull, Reno, & Mike Sanders VS Rey, Juvy, Disco, Vito, Konnan, & Orndorff.Rey & Jindrak start, and it doesn't go well for Rey. O'Haire & Juvy get in, and Juvy controls for a while with a springboard cross-body followed by a springboard dropkick. O'Haire catches Juvy in mid-air and hits a suplex. Jindrak gets in and tries to alley-oop Juvy onto O'Haire for a powerbomb, but Juvy counters into a rana. Vito gets in and out, then the Thrillers take over on Disco.Disco manages to catch O'Haire with a neckbreaker, then tags Konnan, who promptly hits a rolling clothesline and an X-Factor. O'Haire comes back with a massive clothesline. Miscommunication leads to Disco hitting Konnan with the Last Dance, and O'Haire pins Konnan to make it 6-on-5.Johnny gets in and hits Disco with a spinebuster, but misses a springboard legdrop. None of the Animals want to tag Disco, and Vito punches Disco, leading to a Roll of the Dice (Cross Rhodes) from Reno on Disco to make it 6-on-4.Vito wins a slugfest with Reno, gets out of a rack from Palumbo, and hits Palumbo with the spinning Impaler DDT for two. Vito gets his stickball bat from Orndorff, but misses a swing at Reno, and takes a kendo stick shot from one of the Thrillers, leading to another Roll of the Dice from Reno to make it 6-on-3.Juvy gets in, and hits corner punches on Reno before adding a flying-ass-to-the-face and tagging in Rey. Juvy hits the Juvy Driver on Reno, and Rey adds a guillotine legdrop to the nuts to make it 5-on-3.Juvy wipes out both Jindrak & O'Haire, but tries a dive onto both, and he gets caught and hot-shotted onto the guardrail. Jindrak & O'Haire beal Juvy from the floor over the top, then O'Haire hits the Swanton to make it 5-on-2.Orndorff gets in and cleans house, but gets cracked with the kendo stick by Johnny. Orndorff takes a couple more shots, but then cracks Johnny with a stick shot, and finishes him with a piledriver to make it 4-on-2.Orndorff fights off a double team attempt from Jindrak & O'Haire, and hits a piledriver on Jindrak, injuring himself in the process, and O'Haire pins him to make it 4-on-1.Rey & Tygress go after Jindrak as Orndorff lays motionless in the ring, and they both hit Broncos Busters. Rey fights with various members of the Thrillers as they avoid Orndorff, until Charles Robinson finally does the smart thing and stops the match so Orndorff can get some help, and it's a no-contest. This was going alright as a showcase for the Thrillers until the injury, which should have stopped the match the moment it happened.-Pamela interviews Kidman & Madusa in advance of their mixed-tag scaffold match against Douglas & Torrie.-Match 6: Shane Douglas & Torrie Wilson VS Kidman & Madusa [scaffold Match]-The two teams stand on the scaffold as it gets raised above the entrance ramp. They modify the rules so that both members of a team have to climb down the side opposite from where they started instead of having to knock someone down. After a brief fight, the girls do to the side and cling to the ladders as the guys try to have some semblance of a match. Madusa tries to climb down the ladder, but gets kicked off by Douglas, and she lands on a crash pad. Torrie comes back to low blow Kidman, and that helps Douglas toss Kidman off the scaffold through a piece of gimmicked staging, then Torrie & Douglas climb down to officially win. Yeah, scaffold matches suck, and this was no exception. Don't know why they changed the rules so that someone wouldn't have to take the big bump for it to be over...then had two people take big bumps.-Mean Gene interviews Sting, who can finish things with Vampiro tonight, then has a world title shot tomorrow on Nitro. Jeff Jarrett (who Sting apparently beat on Thunder to get the title shot), attacks Sting and lays him out, claiming that it will be he who gets the title shot.-A video airs of Tenay going to a dejected David Flair's trashed house and asking him about being left at the altar by Stacy and knowing he's not the father of her baby. David ignores Tenay's questions, only stopping to accuse Reid of being the father. Tenay tries to point the finger at Naitch, only for David to attack his mail man.-Match 7: Vampiro (w/I.C.P.) VS The Great Muta VS Sting-Shaggy & J take Hudson & Tony's place and act as their personae from the "Stranglemania" videos (which I remember being hilarious when I saw them years ago) to provide commentary and plug JCW. Vampiro & Muta double team Sting for the first few minutes. This ends when Muta hits Sting with a moonsault and goes for the pin, and Vampiro pulls Muta off the cover to attack him. Sting gets a baseball bat and KO's everyone, including the I.C.P. before finishing Muta with the SDD. Not much to this one. Your enjoyment will depend on how much you like I.C.P.'s act.-EARLIER TODAY: Mike Awesome (as That 70s Guy) tries to nail Pamela, then reveals Gary Coleman is on his bus. Awesome tries to get Coleman to say "What You Talkin' About?" until Pamela asks it as a legit question.-Match 8: Jeff Jarrett VS Mike Awesome [bunkhouse Match]-Jarrett comes out in a Frank Wycheck jersey (Wycheck is the guy who threw the "Homerun Throwback" pass in the "Music City Miracle" that is still sadly the last playoff game the Bills have played in) and taunts the Bills at ringside about that loss and their loss that day to the Jets. Awesome having his 70's music set to his old video is tremendous.Awesome gets the upper hand right away in front of the Bills, but Jarrett takes control when they go to the other side of the ring. They stay in the ring for a minute, then go right back outside, where Awesome wins a chair duel, and drops Jarrett with a shot to the head. Back in the ring, Jarrett fights off a second rope powerbomb through a table, and backdrops Awesome through said table. Jarrett tries to send Awesome into a barbed wire-covered table, but since Jarrett is wearing a jersey and Awesome is in his regular gear, it's Jarrett who gets sent into it. Awesome follows up with a powerbomb for two.Awesome misses a splash off the top, then Jarrett taunts the Bills until they get on the apron. The Bills set Jarrett up for a sit-out powerbomb from Awesome, which gets two. Jarrett slides out of a running powerbomb, and scores with a mule kick to the nuts. Jarrett gets his trusty guitar, but Gary Coleman runs out to cut Jarrett off. Jarrett drops Coleman with a guitar shot, but then Sting runs in, hits Jarrett with the SDD, and Awesome gets the pin. This was certainly something else with all the over-booking.-A video recaps the Goldberg/BPP feud.-Mean Gene interviews BPP, who appears to consider Goldberg a minor roadblock to going back to his hotel room with one of his freaks.-Match 9: Scott Steiner VS Goldberg [No DQ]-BPP dons a black face mask after suffering a broken orbital bone at the hands of Goldberg during the build up to this match. After absorbing a couple shots, Goldberg hits an impressive gorilla press into a powerslam. BPP takes a powder, and manages to go back on the attack when Goldberg follows him out. Back in, Goldberg hits a boot to the face, but BPP comes back with a Diamond Cutter and a belly-to-belly suplex for two. Goldberg comes back again with a snap powerslam for two, but misses a spear, hitting the turnbuckle very gingerly instead of the post.BPP goes up, but gets caught and slammed by Goldberg on the way down. They go outside, where BPP sends Goldberg into the steps as Midajah walks out, armed with a lead pipe. BPP hits a couple chairshot, and Goldberg is busted open. BPP hits an overhead throw, but stops to get the pipe from Midajah, and turns right into a spear. Goldberg goes for the jackhammer, but Vince Russo runs out and hits Goldberg with a baseball bat. That gets two for BPP, who then slams Goldberg through a table on the outside.Back in, BPP gets the Recliner. Goldberg gets to the ropes, but Midajah kicks his hand away. Goldberg counters the Recliner with an electric chair, and recklessly tosses BPP into the ropes. BPP bums rushes Goldberg and sets him up top. Goldberg slugs him down, but Midajah hits a couple weak pipe shots, allowing BPP to hit a throw and reapply the Recliner. Goldberg hangs on, and sends BPP outside through the ropes.BPP gets a chair, but Goldberg blocks a shot and hits a neckbreaker. Russo runs in and gets choked by Goldberg, only for BPP to hit pipe shots to the ribs and the head before reapplying the Recliner for the KO win. This was a fucking WAR and told a great story with Goldberg taking everything that BPP and others could throw at him until it all ended up being too much. Great match.-A video previews Booker/Nash. It's funny seeing BPP aligned with Nash again after being part of the reason Scott Hall isn't in WCW. LONG TERM PLANNING IS OVERRATED.-Pamela interviews Booker T, who promises to regain the title.-Match 10 for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Kevin Nash [c] VS Booker T [Cage Match]-Michael Buffer handles the intros. Nash controls the early going as Hudson gets word that Orndorff suffered a stinger. Nash exposes a turnbuckle and goes for Snake Eyes, but Booker fights out and scores with several kicks. Booker hits an axe kick and a spinaroonie, but Nash blocks the Book End, and hits a big chokeslam for two.Booker comes back and rams Nash into the exposed buckle, busting Nash open. Nash uses the cage to regain control, but Booker scales the cage to avoid the jackknife, and hits a missile dropkick for two. Nash goes low to stop from getting punched in the face. Nash goes for the jackknife, but Booker slides out, and simply hit the Book End to regain the title. Not much for a main event, but I wasn't expecting much going into it.-FINAL THOUGHTS: There's some good on this show, particular Goldberg/BPP. There are some questionable booking decisions and the Orndorff injury casts a shadow on the whole show. Still very watchable just about from start to finish.-NEXT EVENT: Halloween Havoc 2000

Halloween Havoc 2000 10/29-From Las Vegas-Hosts are Tony, Madden, & Stevie Ray-Match 1 for the World Tag Team Championship: Jindrak & O'Haire [c] VS Boogie Knights (Disco Inferno & Alex Wright) VS Rey Mysterio Jr. & Kidman (w/Konnan)-So Disco is out of the Animals and reunited with Alex, and Kidman is back in. This is contested under my preferred rules with one guy from each team being legal at all times. Kidman stands by as Wright hits a nice kick on Jindrak. Konnan joins the booth and still likes to bury the Thrillers. Wright & Kidman send Jindrak outside, then Kidman hits Wright with a rana before adding a dropkick and tagging Rey.Wright blocks a Bronco Buster with a foot to the groin, and tags Disco, who hits a neckbreaker on Rey. Jindrak flies back in with a big clothesline, and tags in O'Haire, who tosses Rey around for a bit. Disco & Rey team up on O'Haire, then Rey turns on Disco and hits a springboard splash for two. Kidman, Jindrak, & Wright all tag in, and they do a Tower of Doom spot before tagging their partners back in.Rey hits a springboard legdrop on O'Haire, but gets pulled off by Disco. Disco tries to powerbomb Rey, but Rey sits on Disco to counter, then he gets pulled off and thrown out by O'Haire. The Thrillers beal Kidman from the floor over the top, then O'Haire lawn darts Rey into a powerslam from Wright for two. The match completely breaks down. Kidman hits the Krusher on Wright, but O'Haire pulls him out. Rey hits the Bronco Buster on Disco, but then gets tossed out over the top by Jindrak.Disco hits Jindrak with the Last Dance, but Rey breaks up the cover with a springboard legdrop. O'Haire hits Disco with the Swanton to retain in a really strong opener. Good stuff.-Alex Wright goes after Rey with a chair, drawing Konnan into the ring. Konnan gets blasted, then Sgt. AWOL runs out to clean house. Konnan is apparently injured.-Match 2 for the Hardcore Championship: Reno [c] VS Sgt. AWOL-Reno hits a cane shot, and puts AWOL through a table for two right off the bat. They go outside, where Reno batters AWOL with various weapons, including a trash can for a two count on the floor. Reno goes for a metal pan, and gets cracked in the head with a kendo stick by AWOL. AWOL puts a trash can on Reno's head, then crushes the can with a roundhouse kick, then grabs another can and does it again.AWOL stops to give Stevie the old nWo/Wolfpac/Kliq hand gesture, then takes Reno up the ramp. Reno hits a low blow, then Rolls the Dice on the ramp. Reno opts to stack a couple tables rather than go for the pin. That backfires, naturally, as AWOL drops Reno through both tables. AWOL in turn doesn't go for the pin, taking Reno backstage instead.AWOL throws a computer monitor at Reno, but misses. He goes for a laptop, but Reno sprays him in the face with a fire extinguisher, then puts him through a table for two. AWOL hits an awkward toss onto a non-gimmicked table. AWOL walks Reno back through the Gorilla Position, stopping to deck Finlay just because. AWOL works Reno over, then pulls a table from underneath the ring. AWOL takes too long to set up the table (and fails at doing that), and that allows Reno to hit a chairshot to the back, then Roll the Dice on the table to retain. This was a decent enough garbage match, if not a logical one.-Palumbo & Stasiak run out for a heel beatdown, and it's 3-on-1 until Lash & Chavo make the save.-EARLIER TODAY: Shane Douglas kisses up to Commissioner Sanders and the Thrillers, thanking them for injuring Konnan. Douglas says Coach Nash told him to keep an eye on them tonight.-Footage from Thunder shows Goldberg injuring himself doing the missed spear ram into the post spot. The crew speculate as to whether Goldberg will be able to face KroniK and save his career. I'm assuming this was during the "Goldberg has to replecate his streak or be fired" angle.-KroniK ask the Nevada Athletic Commission not to clear Goldberg tonight.-Match 3: The Perfect Event (Shawn Stasiak & Chuck Palumbo) VS Lt. Loco & Cpl. Cajun-This is presented as an impromptu match booked after what happened with the previous match. The M.I.A. dominate the early going as the crew talk about Perfect Event still having problems. Palumbo manages to botch a hot shot with Chavo, sending Chavo clean out of the ring. Palumbo tags Stasiak and the two argue, almost costing them the match. They manage to hit a flapjack on Chavo, then Stasiak hits a sit-out powerbomb.Palumbo hits a fall-away slam for a one count as Chavo settles into the FIP role. Chavo manages to counter a Stasiak gorilla press into a face plant and make the tag. Lash tries to clean house, but stops to celebrate and gets clobbered by Stasiak. Palumbo gets Lash in a sleeper, but Lash fights out and tags Chavo while Palumbo tags Stasiak. The match breaks down and Palumbo accidentally superkicks Stasiak, allowing Chavo to hit a tornado DDT for the pin. Solid enough tag formula.-Konnan asks Kidman & Rey to take his place, but they both beg off, forcing Konnan to go out there hurt. All three made such wonderful babyfaces there.-Match 4: Shane Douglas & Torrie Wilson VS Konnan & Tygress-Torrie is dressed as Wonder Woman for this one. Shane assumes Konnan is out, and calls out Tygress, who actually answers. Tygress goes low on Shane, then hits some weak kicks on Torrie before getting yanked down by the hair by Shane. Shane & Torrie set up for a double team Franchiser, but Konnan makes the save. Konnan hits a couple rolling clotheslines, then whoops on Shane out the outside. They settle into a tag match with Konnan & Tygress working over Shane. Tygress yanks on Shane's arm and gets punched in the face for it. Shane tags Torrie, and she promptly gets caught with an X-Factor for two. Torrie manages to turn the tide and tag Shane, who puts Tygress in a brief Camel Clutch (called a Boston Crab by Stevie). Tygress manages to escape another hold from Shane and tag Konnan, who goes to town on Douglas.Tygress goes for the Bronco Buster on Torrie, then acts surprised that Charles Robinson was in the way, even though Torrie pulled him in a good five seconds before she went for it. Torrie hits Konnan with the Franchiser (WTF?) for two. Konnan and Tygress come back with a double team X-Factor on Douglas for the pin. This was...something. Not sure what to make of it to be honest.-Mean Gene interviews David Flair, who wants to make Buff Bagwell bleed in order to get his DNA for a paternity test.-Match 5: Buff Bagwell VS David Flair [DNA/First Blood Match]-Buff destroys David at the outset, not taking this match seriously at all. There's some comedy thrown in as David starts copying his dad's signature spots. Buff poses David in his own signature poses, allowing David to hit a mule kick to the nuts and get his first offense in. David exposes a patch of the floor and goes for a piledriver, but Bagwell backdrops out of it.David swings a chair at Bagwell's head, but misses, cracking the post. Buff cracks David with the chair, which busts him open, and hits the Blockbuster before the ref finally calls it. This was OK enough despite the stupid angle and David Flair's involvement.-Lex Luger comes out to celebrate with Buff...then promptly turns on him. ("How many times is Luger going to turn on someone in WCW?"-Tony) Luger sends Bagwell into the post, and Bagwell bleeds from the mouth, allowing David to collect a sample.-David takes the sample backstage, where Goldberg has finally arrived.-Pamela interviews Scott Steiner, who gets mad when she notes that Goldberg is here. BPP promises to bring the pain to Booker T tonight.-Mike Sanders comes out with Palumbo & Stasiak as his seconds for his match against The Cat, who counters with Miss Jones.-Match 6 for Commissionership of WCW: Cruiserweight Champion Mike Sanders (w/The Perfect Event) VS The Cat (w/Miss Jones) [Kickboxing Match]-ROUND ONE: After some stalling, Cat scores with punches and a kick to the face. Cat gets another kick to the face and a leg sweep for a second knock down.-ROUND TWO: Cat lands more punches and a leg sweep for yet another knock down. Sanders tries a kick, but Cat catches it, and takes him down again. Sanders wants the towel thrown in, but Palumbo & Stasiak fight over it, and don't throw it in. Shane Douglas comes out in between rounds to keep Palumbo & Stasiak from fighting each other.-ROUND THREE: The ref is outside when the round starts. Cat works Sanders over, and hits a cartwheel kick. The ref gets tied up with Palumbo, allowing Douglas to KO Cat with a chain. Cat gets up at nine as the round ends. They keep going, and Cat drops Sanders before going after Douglas. Sanders gets up at nine, but Cat...gets counted out? Whatever.-Goldberg tells the Commission doctor to fuck off, in so many words.-Mean Gene interviews KroniK, who make it clear they're all about getting paid.-Match 7: Mike Awesome VS Vampiro-Vampiro talks Awesome into putting his world title shot scheduled for Nitro the next night on the line. Vampiro scores with a couple kicks early, but Awesome sends him outside, and follows with a dive. They promptly go into the crowd, where Vampiro gets a cane and hits Awesome with it. A fan headbutts Awesome...and it doesn't go well for the fan. They go back to ringside, where Vampiro hits a flying clothesline off the announce table.Vampiro gets Awesome in a chair duel, and actually wins. Awesome ducks a chairshot, but takes an incredibly weak version of a Van Daminator. They both go up top, where Vampiro hits a really dangerous overhead throw. Vampiro hits a seated senton, which Awesome is supposed to turn into a powerbomb, but Awesome simply falls back and takes the move.Awesome grabs a table, and throws it at Vampiro. Vampiro hits the Nail in the Coffin, but doesn't go for the pin, opting to look under the ring for something he doesn't find. Awesome hits a sit-out powerbomb on the floor, and that gets two, despite this not officially being a hardcore match. Back in, Awesome blocks a superplex with a low blow, and finishes with a top rope powerbomb. This started out ok, but then got really sloppy and these two just weren't meshing at all.-Mean Gene wishes General Rection luck, and Rection is glad to be back after being told at this PPV last year that he was done.-Vampiro gets helped by officials. The replays of him smacking his head on the mat during the finish are undermined by Awesome's elevator music which is still playing.-Match 8 for the United States Championship: Lance Storm [c] & Jim Duggan (w/Major Gunns) VS General Rection-Rection & Duggan slug it out, and after Rection knocks Duggan outside, he catches Lance with a super high backdrop. Storm goes to the eyes, but Rection no-sells some chops. Rection goes for corner punches, but Storm gets out and tags Duggan. Duggan tags out right away, and Rection backdrops Storm to the floor. Duggan goes after Rection, and Storm low-bridges Rection to regain control for his team.Team Canada work Rection over, until Duggan tries the three-point-stance clothesline, and it leads to a double KO spot. Duggan tags in Storm, who promptly gets a sleeper. Rection counters with a belly-to-back suplex, and Duggan starts screwing up, allowing Rection to make a big comeback. Rection collides with Storm who then collides with the ref, bumping him. Duggan, the last man standing, hits Rection with a piledriver for a visual fall, and a legit two count.Elix Skipper runs out with a 2X4, but Gunns takes him out with the flag she's carrying. Storm goes for that 2X4, but Gunns pulls him back. As Storm argues with her, Rection hits the moonsault on Duggan to win the title and reclaim Gunns. The work was nothing special, but it had a lot of heat.-The M.I.A. celebrate with Rection, who for some reason doesn't think to pull the Canadian flag sticker off the belt, which would have drawn a big reaction.-Pamela interviews Jeff Jarrett, who says everyone will get to see the evolution of Sting's career tonight.-A video recaps the Sting/Jarrett feud.-Match 9: Jeff Jarrett VS Sting-Sting gets a fast start, hitting a Stinger Splash and an inverted atomic drop before sending Jarrett outside. The match is then interrupted by someone dressed as Sting circa 1989. Sting beats the guy up, finishing him with an SDD on the ramp before getting jumped by Jarrett. They fight into the crowd, and Sting circa Havoc 1990 emerges through the crowd to challenge Sting. Sting beats him up too.Just as Sting gets ready to go back at Jarrett, we skip ahead to Wolfpac Sting, who gets more of the same. Jarrett takes advantage by wearing out Sting with a baseball bat, followed by a suplex on the ramp. Back in the ring, Jarrett slaps on a sleeper, but Sting hangs on and counters with one of his own, which Jarrett in turn counters with a belly-to-back suplex for two.Sting starts no-selling, and makes his official comeback. Sting avoids a dropkick and applies the Deathlock, but another, present-day Sting emerges through the mat and pulls him down. Sting emerges from the hole just fine, and desposes of that Sting too. Sting hits a couple Stinger Splashes and goes for the SDD, but the lights go out, and yet another Sting repels from the ceiling. Sting puts him out with an SDD through the announce table.Sting gets the Deathlock on Jarrett, but the first fake Crow Sting breaks that up with a guitar shot. Sting no-sells that and hits that Sting with the SDD, but turns into a guitar shot from Jarrett for the pin. This was much more of an angle than a match, but a perfect illustration of losing to a guy without putting him over. Sting learned some lessons from Hogan in that department, apparently.-Pamela interviews Booker T, who is willing to go on next instead of last to buy Goldberg more time.-A video previews Booker/BPP.-As the ring crew patches the hole, we get a recap of the Sting/Jarrett match.-Match 10 for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Booker T [c] VS Scott Steiner (w/Midajah)-BPP, pissed that they're not going on last, attacks Ricky Santana before making his way out. Booker gets a hammerlock, but BPP hits a huge back elbow to escape. Booker absorbs a couple shots, then knocks BPP outside. After jawing with some fans, BPP gets back in the ring and regains control. Booker comes back with a spin kick and a clothesline for two.Midajah provides a distraction, allowing BPP to regain control. They go into the crowd (*sigh*) for a bit, which this match didn't need at all. BPP puts Booker through the replacement announce table and taunts Stevie. BPP hits an elbow drop for two, then bocks an axe kick attempt with a massive clothesline. BPP hits a second rope Samoan drop, then does some pushups to celebrate.BPP cuts off a comeback attempt with a low blow, and hits a belly-to-belly for two. Booker gets a corner rollup for two, then hits a kick to the face. Booker goes up and fights off BPP, but gets tripped by Midajah. Booker fights BPP off again, and hits the missile dropkick for two. Midajah hands BPP a lead pipe, and he uses it to block a Harlem side kick. BPP hangs the ref in the Tree of Woe, then hits Booker with a Tiger Bomb before locking in the Recliner. BPP takes out another ref for no apparent reason as the crew talks about how dumb a move that is. Slick Johnson calls for the bell, and gets cracked with a pipe for his troubles. BPP goes after Booker with a chair, then talks some shit to Stevie. Jeff Jarrett comes out to try to calm BPP, but he fails. Booker is announced as the winner by DQ. This was a better version of their matches in 1999 over the lesser belts.-A video previews KroniK/Goldberg.-Match 11: KroniK VS Goldberg-Brian Adams calls for the forfeit victory, but Goldberg gets conveniently cleared just in time to wrestle. KroniK jump Goldberg right as he gets in the ring and double team him. Adams grabs a table (ugh), but Goldberg fights off High Times, and spears Clarke through the table for the pin. Somehow it's not over, and Adam hits a full nelson slam for two. Goldberg does a leapfrog then catches Adams with a spear on the rebound, and finishes him with the Jackhammer and time immediately runs out on the show.-FINAL THOUGHTS: This show is watchable, but not much better than that. It's pretty uneven, and there's a lot of repeated spots (fighting in the crowd and tables specifically). There are a couple nothing matches, including one in a big spot in Jarrett/Sting. You could do worse, but you could do a lot better.-NEXT SHOW: Mayhem 2000

-Jarrett comes out in a Frank Wycheck jersey (Wycheck is the guy who threw the "Homerun Throwback" pass in the "Music City Miracle" that is still sadly the last playoff game the Bills have played in)

Reminds me that he also tagged with Jerry Lynn to defeat Ron Killings & James Storm at TNA Slammiversary 07

-EARLIER TODAY: Booker T arrives and is met by a crowd of fans WCW employees. Meanwhile, Scott Steiner is told to sign in with security by Finlay, but opts to smach their laptops with a pipe and tip over their table.

-Hosts are Tony, Mark, & Stevie Ray

-EARLIER TODAY: A short-haired Ric Flair, once again running WCW as C.E.O., promises the crowd a bunch of great matches tonight.

-Match 1 for the Cruiserweight Championship: Mike Sanders [c] VS Kwee Wee (w/Paisley)

-Sanders gives Kwee Wee a bitch slap to start, which pisses Kwee Wee off. Kwee Wee takes Sanders outside, and the Thrillers come out to provide support. The ref holds Kwee Wee back, right in place for a springboard clothesline from Jindrak. Sanders knocks Kwee Wee outside, where he is bealed by Jindrak & O'Haire, right into a powerslam from Sanders for two. Paisley leaves and comes back with an afro wig and Meng, who has been protecting Kwee Wee for some reason. Meng takes on all the Thrillers, and gets the TONGAN DEATH GRIP on two of them at the same time, and the rest can't pull him away. Ric Flair comes out to kick everyone but Paisley out from ringside.

Back in the ring, Sanders hits a snap mare and a kick to the chest. Kwee Wee fights out of a side headlock and hits a springboard sunset flip for two. Sanders gets a cobra clutch, but Kwee Wee fights out and hits a high angle slam. Kwee Wee hits corner punches, but tries a sunset bomb off the apron, and Sanders counters with a rana. Paisley gets involved with a handspring elbow which somehow doesn't draw a DQ. It's all for naught as Sanders simply hits the 3.0 to retain seconds later. OK enough opener that didn't need the ringside stuff.

-Ric Flair bans wrestlers not involved in matches from ringside, excluding valets and managers.

-Disco tries to hire KroniK to help Alex Wright against Kidman & Rey, but only has enough cash to hire one for fifteen minutes. He then talks them into having both guys there, but only for 7 1/2 minutes.

-Mean Gene interviews Evan Karagias & Jamie Noble who bond over being from North Carolina, until Noble figures out that Evan banged Noble's sister in high school.

-Crowbar, now apparently a pimp, hits on a couple interested women before going into his lockerroom and finding flowers with a note.

-Match 2: Shane Helms & Shannon Moore VS Kaz Hayashi & Jimmy Yang (w/Leia Meow) VS Jamie Noble & Evan Karagias

-They all fight it out on the ramp, with 3 Count taking early control. They duel with the Dragons in the ring until Noble & Evan interviene, and the match settles down into a regular three-way tag match with Noble & Evan in control until Shane & Shannon hit a German suplex/spinning heel kick combo on Noble. The Dragons take over on Shannon until he hits Kaz with a Rocker Dropper and tags in Shane, who promptly hits a straightjacket suplex for two, with Noble making the save.

Shane hits a flying sunset flip, but Kaz rolls through and hits a roundhouse kick to the head. Yang comes in and cleans house, until he stops to pose and gets caught with a sleeper drop from Shannon for two. The match completely breaks down and everyone takes turns hitting a big move, and that segment is followed by a series of dives, finished off by Leia.

Noble introduces a ladder, but it immediately gets knocked into both he and Evan. Yang looks to finish Shannon, but Noble cuts him off, then Shane cuts Noble off before diving off Yang's shoulders with a splash onto Noble for two. 3 Count end up hitting Yang with a Samoan drop/neckbreaker combo for the pin. Total spotfest, but it was entertaining enough.

-Bam Bam Bigelow lays out Mike Awesome backstage, finishing him off with a chairshot to the shoulder that misses by a mile. Sgt. AWOL happens to be walking by, and he runs Bam Bam off.

-Pamela interviews Disco, Alex, & KroniK. KroniK remind Disco he has their services for EXACTLY 7 1/2 minutes. Disco wants more time on credit, but KroniK don't seem to go for it.

-Mean Gene accuses Jimmy Hart of faking an ankle injury to avoid *sigh* facing *deep sigh* Mancow.

-Match 3: Mancow (w/entourage) VS Jimmy Hart

-Yes Turd is there. 3 Count rushes out to take out Mancow's entourage, and Jimmy hits a low blow on Mancow. Mancow cracks Jimmy with a crutch, then peels off Jimmy's cast and hits him with that for the pin. At least it was short.

-Medics and Crowbar (explaining his new look) check on Mike Awesome, who acts like he's either half-asleep or has Down's Syndrome.

-M.I.A. discuss whether to go to the ring when Gen. Rection. Ric Flair enters to ask for a moment of AWOL's time.

-Lance Storm talks to Bam Bam.

-Pamela interviews the Filthy Animals (sans Konnan), who are confident because Disco's plans always fail.

-Match 4 for the Hardcore Championship: Crowbar [c] VS Big Vito VS Reno

-Vito & Reno get things started with a stickball bat/kendo stick duel until Crowbar enters. Vito takes control, and pulls a painted traffic cone out of a bag before hitting it with a baseball bat to send it into Reno's nuts. Vito follows that up with a trash can bashed with the bat into Crowbar's nuts. Reno & Crowbar soon team up on Vito, and hit a double team flapjack through a garbage can. Reno promptly turns on Crowbar with a baseball bat shot to the back.

They go outside, where Vito regains control with kendo stick shots to both opponents. They go backstage, where Reno slams Vito through a table. Reno looks to finish Vito off, but Vito's sister shows up to try to talk him out of it. That allows Crowbar to hit Reno with a chair and get the pin. This was a watchable garbage match, but not any better than that.

-Nash & DDP are happy that there's no interference, then Nash asks DDP who his favorite James Bond is.

-Mean Gene hits on Miss Jones, then gets threatened by The Cat, who then promises to kiss Shane Douglas' feet and leave the country for thirty days if Douglas wins their match. After they leave, Gene calls after Jones, telling her that "vitamin Gene will keep you up all night".

-Match 5: Rey Mysterio & Billy Kidman (w/Tygress) VS Alex Wright & KroniK (w/Disco Inferno)

-Tygress joins the booth. Disco wears a Randy Moss jersey for cheap heat. Wright smartly tags in Adams to start, and he tosses Kidman around before taking a rana and an armdrag. Kidman counters a gorilla press with a poke to the eyes, but soon falls victim to a full nelson slam anyway. Wright tags in for what he thinks is an easy pin, but Rey makes the save. Kidman hits a headscissors on Wright, who runs to tag Clarke while Kidman tags Rey.

Rey manages to get Clarke down, and hits a slingshot legdrop for two. Clarke counters the wheelbarrow DDT and drops Rey on his face. Clarke counters a rana with a huge sitout powerbomb and goes for the Meltdown, but Wright demands a tag and gets it. Wright hits a suplex for two with Kidman making the save, and Wright tags Adams who hits a big boot before tagging Wright back in.

Wright works Rey over and looks to go for a tag, but the time is up, and they leave Wright alone. Alex holds his own for a bit before taking a BK Bomb and guillotine legdrop to the nuts from Rey for the pin. The angle with KroniK added a lot to this match without overwhelming it.

-Mike Sanders tells the Perfect Event he has something special in store for the tag title match.

-Mean Gene interviews Scott Steiner, who says he's at his best when he's out of his mind.

-Match 6: Shane Douglas (w/Torrie Wilson) VS The Cat (w/Miss Jones)

-Cat rushes out and scores with a series of kicks to send Douglas outside. Douglas goes after Miss Jones, and she kicks him in the head in response. They go to the announce table, and Madden gets caught in the crossfire. Torrie provides a distraction, allowing Douglas to take control. Douglas works Cat over with uninspiring offense, until Cat blocks a sunset flip to start his comeback. Cat hits the Feliner, but needs Miss Jones to push him into the cover, and it only gets two.

Torrie goes after Miss Jones, kicking off a "yak fight". Douglas loads up a chain and KO's Cat, but Cat gets his foot on the rope at two. Shane gets into a shoving match with the ref, leading to a schoolboy by Cat for two. Shane goes for a DDT, but Cat grabs the top rope to block. Miss Jones puts Cat's loaded red slipper on his foot. Shane calls for the chain, but Torrie tosses it too high, and Shane walks right into a kick to the face with the loaded shoe for the pin. This started out pretty bad, but picked up nicely towards the end.

-Jeff Jarrett finds his guitars smashed, courtesy of Buff Bagwell.

-Pamela interviews Gen. Rection, who has one last match with Lance Storm to win the war. Rection "only" wants the U.S. title and to break every bone in Lance Storm's body.

-A Glacier promo airs, much to the chagrin of the announce team, who bury the whole concept ("They paid more for the commercials than they paid the guy who played Glacier"-Madden).

-Bam Bam comes out to collect his forfeit win, but is naturally interrupted by Ric Flair, who brings out Sgt. AWOL to be Bam Bam's opponent.

-Match 7: Bam Bam Bigelow VS Sgt. AWOL

-Bam Bam hits a Samoan drop for two, and the crowd is deathly silent. AWOL goes to the eyes, then hits a flying clothesline for two. Bam Bam counters a high angle suplex by shifting his weight, and gets two. Bam Bam hits a DDT, but misses a diving headbutt. They awkwardly whip each other into the buckles, then AWOL blocks the Greetings from Asbury Park before getting a table. AWOL goes for a chokeslam, but Bam Bam blocks, and hits the Greetings for the pin. Yeah, this was not good. Not good at all.

-Bam Bam looks to have injured himself somehow. Stevie tries to find out what's up from the ref, but the ref doesn't know either. Bam Bam doesn't move at all.

-Mean Gene interviews Buff, who talks about his own neck problems before gloating over smashing Jeff's guitars.

-Back to the ring as EMTs tend to Bam Bam, and Tony notes that Bam Bam complained of diziness.

-A video recaps the Lance Storm/Gen. Rection feud. M.I.A. dressing as Team Canada to make fun of them? How original.

-Match 8 for the United States Championship: Lance Storm [c] (w/Major Gunns) VS Gen. Rection

-Storm has taped ribs and a turned Major Gunns. Bam Bam hops off the stretcher and attacks Rection before the match starts. I had forgotten about Storm & Bam Bam talking earlier, so that was a well-done swerve. Storm works the leg, and cuts off a comeback attempt in the process. Storm goes for the Maple Leaf, but Rection grabs the ropes to block. Storm accidentally crotches himself on the post, and Rection ads two more.

Gunns distracts Rection, allowing Storm to add a clip. Storm blocks a suplex with a kick to the leg, and hits one of his own for two. Storm talks some shit, then hits a superkick. Rection scores with a powerslam and calls for the moonsault, but Gunns crotches him on the turnbuckles. Rection fights off a suplex attempt, and hits the moonsault to regain the title. Well that was pretty weak. No, that was REALLY weak, especially for a feud ender. Storm takes 95% of the match, but Rection hits two moves and wins? Cena at least hits five before winning. Was Storm legit injured here?

-Mike Sanders tells Doug Dillinger to send the security team home.

-The crew talk about the rest of the card, then a video previews Starrcade.

-Match 9: Jeff Jarrett VS Buff Bagwell

-Jarrett does a pre-match promo, slipping on his words and accidentally halling himself a "stupid superstar" before telling Buff that he came prepared for anything, including Buff smashing his guitars. Jarrett gets the early jump, but Buff makes a quick comeback, hitting a Vader Bomb for two. Bagwell throws Jarrett out over the top, and follows him outside. Bagwell gets a foam guitar from a fan and clocks Jarrett with it. Bagwell chokes Jarrett with a cable, but Jarrett counters with a mule kick to the nuts.

Jarrett grabs a chair and clocks Buff across the back, then adds a couple shots to the ribs. Back in, Jarrett keeps his focus on the back and neck of Bagwell. Jarrett gets a sleeper, then changes it to a belly-to-back suplex when Bagwell moves to fight out. Bagwell makes a comeback, hitting a double-arm DDT, but Jarrett avoids the Blockbuster. Buff does manage to come right back and hits a tornado DDT for two, however.

Jarrett slides through Bagwell's legs and takes out the ref at the ankles, which is a pretty creative ref bump. Jarrett sends Bagwell outside and grabs a chair, but David Flair runs out and clocks Jarrett before taking back off. Bagwell gets two off that, and mad at the ref. Jarrett rolls through a top rope crossbody for two, then Bagwell hits an inverted DDT for two. Jarrett rolls out and grabs a guitar from underneath the ring, then cracks Bagwell for the pin. The match was going pretty good before the lame finish.

-A video previews Nash & DDP VS The Perfect Event.

-Match 10 for the World Tag Team Championship: The Perfect Event [c] VS Kevin Nash & DDP

-Mike Sanders comes out first and joins the announce team. The rest of the Thrillers come out as security. So Perfect Event have patched up their problems, I see. The crowd chants "WE WANT HALL!" before the first lockup. Nash almost gets the jackknife on Palumbo seconds in, but Chucky slides out to regroup. Palumbo lands some punches, but Nash fires back and easily regains control. The other Thrillers try to get involved, so Ric Flair comes out with the real security. Sanders reveals he has been granted a manager's license (showing a stick that reads "WCW Official Manager" as proof) then leaves to go manage his boys. Madden takes a shot in Jim Cornette for some reason, telling Sanders he's like Cornette, "only people still know who you are".

Stasiak takes control of DDP, who settles into the FIP role. At one point DDP goes for a sunset flip and pulls Stasiak's tights down, and I could have lived a long, full life without ever seeing Shawn Stasiak's ass. They throw in a false tag to go full-on tag formula. Nash gets the hot tag, and cleans house. Nash hits the jackknife on Stasiak while DDP hits the Cutter on Palumo. Sanders pulls the ref out at two, but DDP gives Sanders a Cutter on the floor, and Nash gets the pin anyway to win the titles. This was good enough tag formula work.

-Pamela interviews Lex Luger, who calls himself "the Michael Jordan of WCW" and vows to end Goldberg's streak and career.

-Match 11: Lex Luger VS Goldberg

-Michael Buffer does the intros. This is pretty short and pretty bad. Luger has nothing to offer other than token jobber offense. Luger pulls the ref into the spear, but gets jackhammered anyway with a second ref counting the pin. Basically an undercard TV match.

-A video previews Booker/BPP.

-Match 12 for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Booker T [c] VS Scott Steiner (w/Midajah) [Caged Heat Match]

-Buffer does the intros here too. This is contested inside a Hell in a Cell style cage with a low ceiling and a straightjacket included. BPP jumps Booker right as Booker gets in the cage, but takes a belt shot. Booker's advantage doesn't last long, and BPP takes control of the match with a couple big suplexes. BPP focuses on Booker's back, while Booker hits whatever he can. Booker hits a missile dropkick for two and goes for the straightjacket, but BPP cuts him off and hits a second rope Samoan drop before grabbing the straightjacket himself. Booker catches BPP with an electric chair, and tries to put the straightjacket on as Stevie & Tony implore him to go for the pin instead.

Booker grabs a chair and cracks BPP with a couple unprotected shots to the head. BPP rips through the straightjacket, which wasn't all the way on, and scores with a clothesline. BPP gets the Recliner, but Booker counters into a hot shot, which BPP takes by landing on his feet and dropping himself on the rope. BPP tries a flying clothesline, but Booker counters with the Book End...for two.

Booker hits a bunch of clotheslines, then the axe kick. BPP grabs the chair and brains Booker right after the spinaroonie. BPP hits a Bubba Bomb, then slaps on the Recliner for the KO win and the title. As a regular match, it was alright. As a Hell in a Cell with Scott fucking Steiner, it was a huge disappointment.

-BPP obliterates Booker's knee with a chair as the show ends.

-FINAL THOUGHTS: This was a decent enough show, all in all. Nothing blowaway awesome and certainly wouldn't have been worth the $30 for a live viewing, but as a way to kill three hours, you could do a lot worse. I'd say it's a better show than Survivor Series 2000, at least.

-NEXT EVENT: Starrcade 2000

-Mean Gene hits on Miss Jones, then gets threatened by The Cat, who then promises to kiss Shane Douglas' feet and leave the country for thirty days if Douglas wins their match. After they leave, Gene calls after Jones, telling her that "vitamin Gene will keep you up all night".

Oh God, I'd forgotten about Horny Mean Gene.  I vaguely remember a promo where he talked about how he used to lust after Major Gunns but now she was just a bitch.

Starrcade 2000 12/17-From Washington, D.C.-Hosts are Tony, Mark, & a returning Scott Hudson-Match 1 for a Cruiserweight Championship Match: Shane Helms VS Shannon Moore VS Evan Karagias VS Jamie Noble VS Jimmy Yang VS Kaz Hayashi [Ladder Match]-I refuse to spell it "Knoble". Leia Meow joins the Dragons. Chavo Guerrero is the champion, having broken away from the M.I.A. and turned heel. This is at least the third straight PPV with a new cruiserweight champion that was crowned in between PPVs. Shannon & Hayashi start it out, as this starts out like a triangle tag match for some reason. The crowd says "fuck that" and chants "boring" as Shannon & Yang botch something and both smack the back of their heads on the mat. In a cute bit, 3 Count draw the other four into going for the ladders along the aisle, then grab a ladder from under the ring and climb before they are cut off by the Dragons. Now we make with the high spots, starting with a Hayashi moonsault off a ladder. Noble & Evan fuck up a flapjack on Hayashi, and almost spike him head-first on a ladder. Noble & Karagias start arguing amongst themselves, allowing Yang to wipe them out. Yang hits a corkscrew moonsault right on Shannon's knees. Dives by Shane, Hayashi, Evan, & Shannon leave almost everyone down and out. Noble climbs, but gets dumped all the way to the floor by Yang. Yang uses two ladders and the ropes to make a bridge. Evan counters a springboard from Hayashi with a powerslam off the bridge, then Shannon almost paralyzes Evan with a flying famouser that he doesn't see coming.Helms hits a swinging neckbreaker on Noble off the bridge. Noble, Shane, Shannon, & Yang climb two ladders. Shane hits Noble with a sunset bomb, then Shannon hits Yang with a neckbreaker. Noble is somehow the first man up and climbs, but Leia yanks him off the ladder. The Dragons take out Evan and use three ladders to build a scaffold, but are then in turn taken out by 3 Count. Noble stops Shannon from climbing and spikes him with a tombstone. Everyone climbs the scaffold, and 3 Count wipe everyone out, then shake hands before they both pull the contract for the title shot down to apparently be co-winners. If you like flippy guys doing stupidly reckless shit for minimal gain, this match is definitely for you. The only way this could have been even more worthless is if they did it on the indies.-Lance Storm warns Jim Duggan to stay with Team Canada because the U.S. fans won't take him back, and he was probably going to get fired before he joined the team.-Jeff Jarrett asks Mike Sanders to make his match a Bunkhouse Brawl instead of a street fight, as if there's a difference. Sanders agrees to make it a "Bunkhouse Brawl/Street Fight".-KroniK chill out in a sona and get a job offer, apparently so good that they waive their usual "money up front" policy to take it.-Match 2: Lance Storm (w/Major Gunns & Elix Skipper) VS The Cat (w/Miss Jones)-Lance pokes fun of the 2000 election before the Canadian anthem plays. Cat wants Lance to go back to Canada and take Madden with him. Cat out-wrestles Storm to start until Gunns trips him, which nearly kicks off a cat fight between her and Jones. Storm takes over with striking, then the story becomes Storm uncharacteristically jawing with the fans during the match. Cat comes back with an inverted atomic drop and a split punch. Skipper attacks Cat, allowing Storm to regain control. Miss Jones tries to kick Storm, but takes out the ref instead.Major Gunns goes after Jones, and gets sent into the rail for her troubles. Storm hits a springboard missle dropkick for a visual fall. Cat comes back with kicks, and gets two. Storm hits a Northern Lights suplex for two as Duggan makes his way out. The ref gets distracted, and Duggan drops the 2X4 before clotheslining Cat in the back, allowing Storm to get the Maple Leaf for the submission. Team Canada turn on Duggan and beat him down, but Cat makes the save. The match was alright, the finish was weak sauce.-Mike Awesome arrives in an ambulance for his match against Bam Bam.-Buff, acting as an interviewer tonight, brings out the Filthy Animals. Konnan spends the whole time making fun of Jarrett.-Vito & Reno walk backstage with Vito's sister. They are confronted by the Thrillers, and Vito has to talk Reno into staying with him.-Daffney tells Crowbar the 70's gimmick is a "crap sandwich" and that it's making him soft. Terry Funk sprays Crowbar in the face with a fire extinguisher to kick off the hardcore title match.-Match 3 for the Hardcore Championship: Crowbar [c] (w/Daffney) VS Terry Funk-Funk beats the shit out of Crowbar as the crew ponder how Funk got a title shot after disappearing for months and there having been a series of #1 contender's matches. They make their way into the back of a huge truck, where Funk tosses him off through a table. Funk grabs a car door, but takes a nut punch to turn the tide back to Crowbar. Crowbar slams Funk's head in a door and gets handcuffs from Daffney, but Funk cuts him off and repeatedly slams the same door on Crowbar's head.Funk handcuffs Crowbar, with his hands in front of him instead of behind him, and brains him with a chair. They do their own version of Rock/Foley from the '99 Rumble, thankfully with a lot less chairshots. Forget that, as Funk switches up to the car door and they make their way towards the ring. Funk goes back to a chair as the crew make unintentional shoot comments about how bad this beating is. Terry gets a table and puts Crowbar on it, but Daffney pulls Crowbar off before Funk can do an Asai moonsault.Funk goes after Daffney, and Crowbar comes back with a couple chairshots. Crowbar puts Funk through the table with a slingshot splash, and that gets two. Daffney throws a chair at Funk's face, and Crowbar gets two off that. Funk comes back with another unprotected chairshot to the head, and finishes with a piledriver on the car door to win the title. This might have been fun in 2000, but it's uncomfortable in 2013. Matches like this are why I'm glad "hardcore" has become passe', and I'm guessing most of the active wrestlers are too.   -Mean Gene is PISSED at Team Canada for attacking Jim Duggan. Storm says he knew a month ago that Duggan's days in Team Canada were numbered. Gene hits on Gunns, telling her she can wrap her Canadian flag around a different pole later.-Lex Luger digs through his bag, and finds his brass knucks.-Match 4: Big Vito & Reno (w/Marie) VS KroniK-So Vito & Reno's relationship has been ret-conned into them being brothers. Adams points the finger at Marie, saying she's the one that hired them. KroniK goes on the attack, but Vito & Reno immediately turn the tide. That lasts for a bit until Clarke hits a double underhook on Vito for two. Vito plays FIP while Adams continues to confront Marie about the supposedly-promised money, while she professes her innocence. As Vito takes his ass-kicking, the Thrillers come out onto the ramp. Vito finally makes the tag...and Reno turns on him. Reno Rolls the Dice on Vito, and KroniK threaten the ref until he counts Reno's pin on Vito. Reno throws KroniK some cash, then rejoins the Thrillers. KroniK add injury to injury after the match. The work wasn't anything special, but the angle was pretty good.-Mean Gene interviews 3 Count, asking them who is getting the title shot. Shane says he considers them both the #1 contender. Chavo interrupts, then attacks them both.-Buff interviews the M.I.A., who deny that they are breaking up. Rection says that he is not going to let Shane Douglas use him as a stepping stone.-Match 5: Bam Bam Bigelow VS Mike Awesome [Ambulance Match]-They fight around ringside, going back-and-forth. They get to the ambulance, but can't put one another in it. Bam Bam punches through one of the rear windows, and I really hope that was gimmicked. They go back to the ring as a "boring" chant breaks out. They make their way to the announce table for a bit. Bam Bam gets sent into the steps, and a close-up reveals a decent-size cut in Bam Bam's arm.Awesome props a table up against the ring, but stupidly charges Bam Bam, and gets backdropped through it. They go back to, and eventually on, the ambulance. Bigelow rips off the safety lights, but gets clocked with them by Awesome, and Bam Bam falls through the roof of the ambulance to give the win to Awesome. Bad finish to a bad match.-Mean Gene interviews Reno and the Thrillers. Reno says they're his real family. Over to the (once again) tag champions The Perfect Event, who mock Nash & DDP. As they leave, Gene threatens to "smack the crap out of" Mike Sanders one of these days. Pissed-off Gene may be the best thing of death bed WCW.-Match 6 for the United States Championship: Gen. Rection [c] VS Shane Douglas-Douglas is just a tad bit upset that Rection took out Torrie. Douglas gets the early jump until Rection no-sells some chops. They go outside, and after Rection sends Douglas back in, he no-sells a series of low blows before firing up and slapping on a bearhug. Douglas bites Rection's forehead to escape, but soon finds himself right back in the hold as the crowd grows restless.Rection goes for the moonsault, but Douglas sweeps his leg, and takes control. They go outside, where Rection scoops Douglas and cracks the back of his head on the post. I'm sure that felt just GREAT. Douglas' forehead is opened up, and Rection pounds on the wound. Douglas looks legit out of it, but manages to avoid the moonsault before pulling a chain from his boot. Rection ducks a chain shot, and hits a belly-to-back suplex.Chavo runs out, and distracts the ref before throwing the chain to Douglas, before stooging him off, and the ref calls for the DQ? Surprised to see that after all these PPVs where there hasn't been a DQ. Douglas takes out both Rection and Chavo with the Franchiser before running from AWOL and Lash LeRoux. I'm as confused as Gen. Rection as to what that finish was supposed to mean. The match was bad, and like the last match, the finish just made it worse.-Mean Gene interviews Scott Steiner, who says he's going to knock Sid out before "going straight for the 'big O'" with his freaks in his hotel room.-Another "Blood Runs Colder" promo airs. This time without a snarky response from the announce team.-Buff has some laughs with Nash & DDP. DDP's complaint about "them" holding he & Nash down rings hollow, especially when it comes to Nash.-Match 7: Jeff Jarrett & The Harris Twins VS Konnan, Billy Kidman, & Rey Mysterio (w/Tygress) [street Fight/Bunkhouse Brawl]-There's a whole bunch of shit in and around the ring, including a bar and a bucket full of soda cans. Tygress joins the announce team. A bunch of aimless brawling ensues. Kidman shoves Jarrett into a popcorn machine, and I'm sure UT winced at the sight of all that wasted popcorn. Kidman & Rey slams Jarrett through the breakaway bar. The crew have some fun calling this, but it really needs Dusty on color to be complete.Jarrett almost breaks Rey's neck with a powerbomb into a garbage bin. This somehow ends up turning into a regular tag match, with tags and all, and Kidman in the FIP role. On of the Twins learns that YOU CAN'T POWERBOMB KIDMAN. Kidman takes a beating for a little while longer, until he makes the hot tag to Konnan, who cleans house before getting caught with the H-Bomb.The heels get a table, and Rey finally gets out of the garbage bin and cleans house with a broom. Rey tries to splash Jarrett through the table, but gets caught and H-Bombed through the table by the Twins. Kidman swoops in, and hits the BK Bomb and Kid Krusher on Jarrett, but takes a liquor bottle from one of the Twins while going for the SSP, and Jarrett finishes Kidman with The Stroke. This was...something. It started out as a flashback to the mostly-uninspired brawls of 1996, before turning into tag formula, then into a garbage sprint, the last part being the most entertaining by far.-Buff interviews Dwayne Bruce, who has words for Lex Luger until Lex jumps him.-The ring crew cleans up the ring. The announce team talk about Luger/Goldberg, then the tag title match.-A video previews the tag title match.-Match 8 for the World Tag Team Championship: The Perfect Event [c] (w/Mike Sanders) VS Kevin Nash & DDP-Ric Flair comes out and tells Sanders that if he gets in the ring, the match will be stopped and the titles given to Nash & DDP. Heel announcer Madden, who HATED "DDMe" just has to say that DDP "is 45, looks 35, and wrestles like he's 25". Palumbo gets some punches in on Nash, who then promptly retakes control. Palumbo comes back with a big clothesline, but misses a legdrop, and Nash tags DDP, who hits a flying clothesline for two. DDP goes back-and-forth with Stasiak, almost getting the Cutter and settling for a urinage for two, before turning right into a superkick from Palumbo to put him in the FIP spot.DDP & Palumbo has a couple slugfests that end in draws, and the crowd is getting seriously into this, and they EXPLODE when Nash gets the hot tag. As Nash cleans house, Sanders goes low on DDP, and  Stasiak breaks up a jackknife attempt on Palumbo with a flying clothesline, and Palumbo gets two. Sanders slides a belt to Palumbo, who drills Nash for two. DDP gives Stasiak a Cutter on the floor, then has to fight off the rest of the Thrillers. After he does, Nash spikes Palumbo with the jackknife to win the titles. This was a really strong tag formula match, with the right guys in the right roles, and the Perfect Event stepping up their game.-Nash gives a shout-out to Scott Hall.-A video previews Goldberg/Luger.-Match 9: Lex Luger VS Goldberg [No DQ]-Buffer does the intros again. Goldberg beats the shit out of Luger, starting before Buffer even says his name. After a couple minutes of getting demolished, Luger tries taking a walk, but it doesn't work. Luger finally catches a break when Goldberg posts himself. Luger makes use of a chair as Buff & Sarge come out to ringside. Goldberg turns the tide with a shoulder tackle. Goldberg sets up for the spear, but stops dead in his tracks when Luger pulls the ref in the way. Buff distracts the ref as Luger KO's Sarge and Goldberg with knucks, getting two on Goldberg.Buff gets involved, "accidentally" hitting Goldberg with the Blockbuster. The crew talks about Luger getting the rack on Goldberg and it being a formality after that, which is weird since I don't remember Goldberg ever coming close to submitting. Buff decks Sarge as Goldberg hits the spear, and finishes with the Jackhammer. Pretty much an extended squash for Goldberg to set up...-Bagwell cracks Goldberg across the head with a chair, then ads a couple more shots before leaving with Luger. Goldberg completely no-sells the beat down and the turn by Buff, stopping to grabs a kid from the crowd before he leaves.-Match 10 for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Scott Steiner [c] (w/Midajah) VS Sid Vicious-BPP gets the early jump and works Sid over in a corner. Sid quickly makes a comeback, and sends BPP scurrying after a sidewalk slam. BPP gets Sid into a test-of-strength, and wins it easily. Sid manages to flip BPP over, then drops a leg for two. They go outside, where Midajah cracks Sid across the back with a pipe, and BPP follows up with a chair to the ribs then the head and neck.Back in the ring, BPP works Sid over with very basic offense, then hits a belly-to-belly followed by the Recliner. Sid makes it to the ropes to escape, but BPP quickly reapplies the hold in the middle of the ring. Sid gets out, then avoids a flying Midajah, who hits BPP. Sid hits a chokeslam much to the delight of Tony & Scott, but it only gets two. Sid slaps on a cobra clutch, but BPP punches the ref while in the hold, taking him out so there's no count when Sid turns it into a cobra clutch slam. BPP gets the pipe, and cracks Sid for two.Jarrett runs out, but accidentally cracks BPP with a guitar. Charles Robinson counts, but Jarrett pulls him out at two. Robinson actually ducks a Jarrett clothesline and sprints back in the ring to count again, but BPP kicks out at two. Sid sets up for the powerbomb, but BPP goes low a couple times, then hits an exploder suplex. BPP gets the Recliner again, and Sid passes out. This would have made for a good Nitro main event, but for a Starrcade main event it was really weak.-FINAL THOUGHTS: This was a really weak PPV. The tag title match was good, but the rest of pretty bleh at best. The opener and the hardcore title match had guys killing themselves for no real gain, so if you're into that, you'll like those two matches. Pretty sad way to end the Starrcade legacy, but really a lot of the shows weren't particularly good anyway.-NEXT EVENT: Sin, where I will be skipping past the final moments of the main event.

Reno counters a suplex, and Rolls the Dice to win. Surprised to see a clean heel win here, as I was expecting either a Vito win or a Reno win with interference from the Thrillers. Really solid match despite a lot of the offense being of the punch-kick variety.-Mike Sanders insults Brian Adams before giving him an envelope of cash. Byan Clarke enters with a bigger wad of cash in hand, and KroniK agree that the offer to Clarke is better.-Match 3: The Yung Dragons (w/Leia Meow) VS Jamie Noble & Evan Karagias-Evan & Hayashi start, and Hayashi hits a wheelbarrow slam before catching Noble with a flying headscissors, then the Dragons dropkick their opponents outside before hitting stereo Asai moonsaults. Hayashin hits Evan with a slingshot DDT, then locks on a submission, but Noble saves. Noble hits a tombstone on Hayashi for two with Yang saving. Yang misses the Yang Time (corkscrew moonsault) on Noble, but then promptly gets a small package for the pin. This was a pretty good mix of cruiserweight style and tag formula.-Noble & Karagias attack the Dragons after the match and kick them out of the ring.-Totally Buff arrive in a shiny blue version of the Monopoly car, and go through their plans. As Skipper & Awesome re-enter the match, Rey hits a springboard splash for two before tagging Kidman.Storm manages to turn the tide and tag Skipper. Konnan tags Kidman, who goes to town on Storm. Kidman hits the BK Bomb for two. The match breaks down, and everyone but Rey, Kidman, Storm, & Gunns end up in the box. Funk tries to get Crowbar to help him take Meng down, but Crowbar double-crosses him with a chairshot to the head. Meng kicks a chair into Crowbar's face, then finishes Funk with the TONGAN DEATH GRIP to win the title. This was entertaining enough, although hindsight is funny with Meng getting this big push as an unstoppable monster...before jumping to the WWF.-Ric Flair tells The Cat to take the rest of the night off and celebrate being commissioner again.-Mean Gene interviews Sid, who would love nothing more than to see BPP & Jarrett run like frightened children.-A video previews the tag title match.-Match 7 for the World Tag Team Championship: Kevin Nash & DDP [c] VS Chuck Palumbo & Sean O'Haire-Before the match starts, Mike Sanders comes out with the rest of the Thrillers and tries to make it so any of the other Thrillers can sub in for Palumbo and/or O'Haire during the match, but Ric Flair comes out and kicks all of them out from ringside.DDP & Palumbo start, and it doesn't go well for Palumbo. Nash & O'Haire tag in, and it's more of the same for O'Haire. O'Haire manages to do an impressive back flip off the turnbuckles and drop Nash with a superkick before tagging in Palumbo. Rection pounds on Douglas' forehead, but can't open him up. Rection hits a flying clothesline, but takes too much time setting up a moonsault, and gets crotched.Douglas goes to work on Rection's knee, including a figure 4. They fight outside and into the crowd for a little bit, with Douglas maintaining control. Douglas wraps Rection's legs around the post in figure 4 position, but opts to squeeze using his arms and chest rather than hook with his legs. Rection hits a gorilla press, then gets a ladder from underneath the ring. Rection catches Douglas with the ladder and then gets the chain, but Douglas tips the ladder over, sending Rection into the ropes and bumping the ref in the process.Douglas grabs a chain from his boot, and KO's Rection, busting him open to win the title. Not much of a match, and I figured if Douglas won that would be the finish.-Mean Gene asks Scott Steiner who he can trust tonight. BPP says he can only trust his freaks, and that he'll go down as the greatest world champion of all-time.-Sgt. AWOL and Cpl. Cajun try to console Gen. Rection. It doesn't work.-A video previews Golderg/Sarge VS Totally Buff.-Match 9: Totally Buff VS Goldberg & Dewayne Bruce [No DQ]-Michael Buffer handles the intros. After some stalling, Goldberg casually throws Luger into a corner and slugs away. Goldberg tosses Luger with a butterfly suplex and points at Bagwell. Bagwell's "Me?" reaction is pretty great. Buff gets in and hits a suplex, but stops to pose, and Goldberg promptly pops up and hits a gorilla press into a powerslam. Goldberg tags Sarge, who talks shit while working Buff over. Sarge walks the second rope and hits an elbow drop for two.Soon after Luger gets a cheap shot in on Sarge, and that turns the tide for Totally Buff. Sarge plays FIP, and probably aborbs more punishment then he ever did as an active jobber. Sarge finally manages to suplex Buff and make the hot tag to Goldberg, who cleans house. Luger goes after the kid Goldberg met earlier, and after Goldberg makes the save, the kid maces Goldberg in the eyes, and Luger adds a chairshot to the back.Security goes after the kid, but they then let him go and he stays at ringside while Tony & Scott wonder why he's allowed to do so. Totally Buff cut off a Goldberg comeback attempt as Sarge has disappeared. Totally Buff hit a Doomsday Blockbuster, and Luger gets the pin to ostensibly end Goldberg's career. This is about what you should expect (i.e. not good), minus Sarge being the one eating the pin.-Tony & Scott mourn the loss of Goldberg as officials flush the mace out of his eyes.-A video previews the world title match.-Match 10 for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Scott Steiner [c] (w/Midajah) VS Sid Vicious VS Jeff Jarrett VS ???-Flair comes out before the bell, saying that the fourth man is there, but will not be in the match just yet. The match starts as a triple threat, but more of a handicap match with BPP/Jarrett taking on Sid. Sid almost gets a chokeslam on Jarrett moments in, but Jarrett goes to the eyes. Sid hits Jarrett with a sidewalk slam, then wipes out BPP. Jarrett whips Sid into a boot from BPP, who follows up with a belly-to-belly, and Jarrett stand and watches as that gets two. They go outside, where Sid takes a spectacularly awful bump over the rail. As Sid tries to get at Jarrett, he gets waffled with the belt by BPP. Sid makes a comeback, but BPP prevents a powerbomb on Jarrett. BPP forgets it's not a handicap match, ordering the ref to count a Jarrett cover, then getting mad when it only gets two. Sid suplexes BPP & Jarrett at the same time, almost dropping both on their heads. Sid cleans house and hits a chokeslam on Jarrett for two, with BPP making the save.Sid hits a cobra clutch slam on BPP, then knocks Jarrett outside before going after him. Sid takes Jarrett out on the outside, gets back in, and goes for his ill-fated crane kick off the second rope. The poor guy has to lay there in agony as the mystery man melodrama plays out, as Flair finally gets him. The mystery man is dressed in a really cheap-looking outfit. He gets in, clubs Sid, and BPP pins Sid to retain. The mystery man reveals himself to be Road Warrior Animal to a collective "WTF?" reaction from the crowd. The match itself was pretty bad, and it was made even worse by the feeling of dread I had while watching it, knowing what was coming. Fortunately for yours truly and his lunch, I managed to skip over the actual moment.-FINAL THOUGHTS: This was actually a pretty decent show for two hours, then goes into a downward spiral over the last three matches, which are all differing levels of bad, ending in one of the most sickening moments in live TV and an awful reveal, which leads to yet another pointless turn by Flair.-NEXT EVENT: SuperBrawl: Revenge

Even worse was that they replayed the injury on Nitro the following night, completely uncensored with barely any warning... and the announcers had so little credibility at that point that no one even believed them. "Yeah yeah yeah, Sid's horrible injury. Pull the other leaaaaAAAAAAAHHH FUCK OH GOD WHY ARE YOU SHOWING THIS?!?!"

SuperBrawl: Revenge 2/18/01-From Nashville-The opening video is a weird rip-off of the opening credits of SE7EN.-Hosts are Tony & Scott-Tony & Scott note that there is a question as to whether Nash will be there to face BPP for the world title.-EARLIER TODAY: Animal destroys Kidman for no particular reason, taking him out of the opening match.-Match 1: Evan Karagias VS Jamie Noble VS Kaz Hayashi VS Jimmy Yang VS Shannon Moore VS Shane Helms [Elimination Match]-Helms is replacing Kidman. This is set up like RoH's Survival of the Fittest finals, with two guys starting and the other four in the corners, eligible to be tagged in. Noble & Moore start. They go through a series of counters and reversals, leading to Noble hitting a belly-to-back suplex for two. Shane makes a blind tag on Shannon, leading to Moore alley-ooping Noble into a sit-out powerbomb from Helms. Everyone else gets involved, somehow leading to the Yung Dragons working over Jamie Noble.Noble & Evan turn the tide against Yang, and there's some bad miscommunication between Yang & Evan, as Evan keeps trying to slam Yang, who won't go up for him. Evan overshoots on a splash, and backs into Shane, who tags himself in before going nuts on both Evan & Yang. Moore gets in, and 3 Count hit their swinging neckbreaker/Samoan drop combo, and Hayashi saves Yang, then Hudson talks as if this is a one-fall match.Hayashi crotches Evan on the top rope, then takes a superplex from Shane. Evan, Yang, Noble, & Karagias all try top rope moves, and all miss. The match breaks down completely, leading to a series of dives that wipes everyone out. Back in the ring, Evan hits Yang with a gorilla press into a spinebuster for two. Noble & Karagias hit Yang with a powerbomb/springboard dropkick combo, but fight over the cover. Yang gets in, knocks Noble out, then badly botches a couple moves, before hitting an inverted tombstone (think Kazarian's finisher) to eliminate Evan.Noble gets in, and quickly eliminates Yang with a tombstone. Noble takes out both members of 3 Count with dropkicks, but then falls victim to the Bottoms Up (top rope famouser) from Shannon to eliminate him. 3 Count go right to work on Hayashi, hitting a dangerous backslide/guillotine legdrop combo. 3 Count hit their finisher on Hayashi, but then Moore hits a famouser on Helms when he goes for the Vertabreaker on Hayashi. Hayashi tries to save Helms for some reason, and ends up kicking the ref.Helms pulls Hayashi off Shannon, then goes after Shannon himself. Shannon blocks a superkick and goes low, then he & Hayashi double team Shane. Hayashi knocks Shannon outside, so Shannon pulls Shane out of the way of a Hayashi moonsault. Shannon looks to finish Hayashi, but Shane breaks that up, and finishes Shannon with the Nightmare on Helms Street.Hayashi fights off a NOHS and hits a German suplex for two. Shane comes back and gets a flying sunset flip, but Hayashi rolls through and hits a buzzsaw kick for two. Shane blocks another German, and hits the Vertabreaker to win a title shot at Greed. I for one am SHOCKED that the guy who wasn't originally scheduled to be in the match wins it, because that never happens. Blown spots aside, this was a fairly entertaining car wreck.-Security camera footage from earlier tonight shows Chavo animatedly talking to Ric Flair & Animal, with Animal storming off, presumably to attack Kidman.-Hugh Morrus says that while General Rection had mercy in his heart for AWOL, Hugh Morrus doesn't.-Ric Flair gives Scott Steiner an envelope which Flair says contains Kevin Nash's future.-Commissioner Lance Storm meets KroniK as they enter the building, telling Clarke he has to get clearance from the WCW doctor before they can have their match.-Match 2: The Wall VS Hugh Morrus-Wall has the "Dennis Hopper as King Koopa" haircut. Wall wins a slugfest as Tony & Scott talk about Flair & BPP wanting to be in positions of power when new owners take over WCW. If they only knew...They go outside where Wall hits some chops, but Morrus comes back, and uses the steps to take control. Wall hits a big boot for two, then works Morrus over in the corner. Wall adds some headbutts, but misses a legdrop off the top. Morrus blocks a bit boot and goes low, then they botch a hot shot, before getting it done on a second attempt. Morrus then does it again, this time as a flapjack, as this match has slowed to a glacial pace. Morrus blocks a piledriver and hits a backdrop, then blocks a hiptoss and hits a German suplex, before finally ending this with the moonsault. Hugh adds a second moonsault for fun. If this were a WWF PPV, JR would have been finding diplomatic ways to say it sucked, most likely involving the phrase "bowling shoe ugly".-Backstage, Konnan gets into a brief scuffle with Animal before they're pulled apart by security.-A video recaps the split of the Natural Born Thrillers over the tag titles.-Match 3 for the WCW World Tag Team Championship: Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo [c] VS Shawn Stasiak & Mark Jindrak-The entrance graphic identifies Jindrak as Chuck Palumbo. Pre-match promos establish the challengers as the heels and the champs as the faces. Stasiak gets control on O'Haire early, but everything changes when Jindrak tags in, and the champs take over on him. Palumbo catapults Jindrak into Stasiak, but then whiffs on a punch, allowing Jindrak to hit a clothesline and tag Stasiak. Palumbo plays FIP, and the challengers actually do some nifty stuff during the heat segment, and O'Haire has some pretty good facial expressions as he gets more and more pissed off.Stasiak finally takes too long before doing a splash off the top and he misses. Palumbo counters a sleeper from Stasiak into a jawbreaker, and makes the hot tag to O'Haire. O'Haire cleans house with clotheslines, but runs into a boot from Jindrak followed by a clothesline by Stasiak for two. O'Haire fights off a double-team and gets Jindrak in position for the Seanton. Stasiak pulls Jindrak out of the way, but promptly walks into a superkick from Palumbo, followed by the Seanton for the pin. Not great or anything, but this was solid enough tag formula work considering the guys involved.-Dustin Rhodes says Flair conspired to keep him out of WCW for eight months, but now he's back and plans to take the U.S. title from Rick Steiner.-Match 4 for the Cruiserweight Championship: Chavo Guerrero Jr. [c] VS Rey Mysterio Jr.-Rey immediately kicks Chavo outside. Chavo avoids a dive and tries a sunset bomb off the apron, but Rey counters into a rana. Back in, Chavo scores with a gutbuster, then drops Rey across the top rope for two. Chavo tosses Rey around and goes for a superplex. Rey fights that off and goes for a moonsault, but Chavo crotches him, and puts Rey in the Tree of Woe. Chavo delivers some good punishment from that position, but Rey sits up to avoid a charge, and Chavo hits the post.Chavo comes right back and gets the Gory Special. Rey slides out and Chavo flips over, since Rey was supposed to arm drag him but didn't. Chavo comes right back with the Gory Bomb, and they go outside, where Chavo sends Rey into the guardrail. Back in Chavo blocks a quebrada, but Rey counters Snake Eyes and takes Chavo down. Rey goes for a springboard, but Chavo counters with a dropkick to regain control. Chavo gets a very shitty STF. Seriously, Cena would look at that and say it's terrible. Rey not-so-surprisingly escape, but Chavo promptly sends Rey back outside.Chavo works Rey over out there, then steals a mask from a fan at ringside, then puts it on Rey before hitting a nice belly-to-back suplex for two. Rey manages to crotch Chavo, put the mask on him, then hit a super rana for two. Rey sends Chavo outside, and Chavo decides to grab his belt and take a walk. Rey stops that with a tumbling dive over the corner. Back in Rey badly botches a back springboard, and Chavo smartly covers for two.Rey sends Chavo outside again, and Chavo grabs a chair, bringing it in the ring with him. Rey cuts Chavo off, but Chavo blocks a wheelbarrow DDT into a hot shot. Chavo props the chair up in a corner, but Rey slides out to avoid getting sent into it. They go to the apron, where after a couple tries Rey hits a springboard into a rana to the floor. Back in, Rey hits a springboard diving headbutt for two. Rey hits a swinging DDT, then the Bronco Buster.Rey grabs the chair as Chavo slides out and gets a chair from under the ring. The ref disarms Rey, and Chavo waffles Rey with a chair, then hits a hilo before finishing with the brainbuster. This was really, really good. Definitely the best cruiserweight title match on PPV, probably since the division was at its apex.-Lance Storm tells Brian Adams that KroniK's match has been pushed up the card, after the U.S. title match, which is next. Clarke also still hasn't emerged from the trainer's room.-A video previews the U.S. title match.-Match 5 for the United States Championship: Rick Steiner [c] VS Dustin Rhodes-Dustin jumps on Rick right as he gets in the ring, and hits a DDT for two. Dustin keeps the heat on, until Rick drops under a cross-body attempt, and Dustin rolls outside. Back in Dustin wins a slug fest, but Rick goes to the eyes to regain control, then follows up with a belly-to-belly for two. Rick gets a single-leg crab, then drives Dustin's knee into the mat when he won't give up. Dustin uses a jawbkreaker to escape a chinlock, but runs right into a clothesline for two.Dustin slides out of a slam, takes a back elbow, then catches a charging Rick with a big clothesline of his own. They go outside where Dustin grabs a chair. Rick begs off, and the ref disarms Dustin. As Dustin argues with the ref, Rick rolls in the ring and exposes a turnbuckle. Dustin hits corner punches, but Rick drops him onto the exposed buckle, and gets the pin with his feet on the ropes. Rick tries to add a belt shot afterwards, but the ref stops that, and Dustin fires back, hitting Shattered Dreams before leaving. Not much to this one, as it was mostly punch-kick stuff.-Ric Flair talks Lance Storm. Flair wants everyone not associated with the Magnificent Seven kicked out of the building after their match, plus the winners of Totally Buff VS KroniK get a tag title shot.-DDP & The Cat get fired up. Cat can regain the commissionership if he beats Storm.-Match 6 for a World Tag Team Championship Match: Totally Buff VS KroniK-After a lengthy pre-match promo from Totally Buff, it's believed Clarke didn't get clearance, and at first Adams comes out by himself, but then Clarke joins him. Totally Buff jump KroniK during the entrance, and Buff lays Clarke out with a chair shot. Adams gets double-teamed for a bit, but then scores with a double DDT. Adams goes for a full nelson slam on Luger, but Buff stops that with a low blow.Totally Buff work Adams over, and Buff hits a standing frog splash for two before sending Adams outside for more abuse from Luger. After getting out of a Luger chinlock, Adams fires up and makes a big comeback, but eventually falls victim to a double-team clothesline. Totally Buff go for the Doomsday Blockbuster, but Adams fights out. Suddenly Clarke gets up and attacks Adams, before revealing himself to be Mike Awesome in a really good disguise as the real Clarke, having been beaten up, crawls out to the ramp.Luger gets Adams in the rack, then lets him go so Buff can hit the Blockbuster for the win. More of an angle than a match. The ring work was nothing special, but the swerve was really good.-Tony & Scott talk about what just happened.-Lance Storm tries to kick KroniK out of the building, but KroniK beat up security instead.-Match 7 for the WCW Commissionership: Lance Storm VS The Cat (w/Miss Jones)-Hudson is informed that KroniK have left the building after all. Storm fights back, and targets Cat's knee.It takes a couple tries and a lot of damange to the knee later, but Cat makes his comeback. He goes for the Feliner, but Storm catches the leg, and gets the Maple Leaf, but it's right next to the ropes, and Cat forces a break. Mike Sanders walks out and gets blasted by Miss Jones, and that distraction allows Cat to hit the Feliner for the pin. Pretty good, if a little too short to get to another level.-A video previews DDP/Jarrett.-Tony is notified that Flair has had The Cat removed from the building.-Match 8: DDP VS Jeff Jarrett-As Jarrett comes out, he shows a video of DDP challenging Kanyon to face him anywhere, any time, and says that Flair has approved, so the next match is actually...-Match 8: DDP VS Kanyon-Kanyon comes out from under the ring and clobbers DDP. DDP immediately regains control, and hits a flying clothesline for two. DDP goes for corner punches, but Kanyon goes low, and DDP spills out over the top. Kanyon hits a famouser onto the steps, which cuts DDP open. DDP gets on the apron, and Kanyon hits a ropes-assisted superplex for two. DDP gets a couple punches in, but Kanyon hits a Northern Lights suplex for two.Kanyon blocks a hiptoss, and hits a neckbreaker for two. DDP fights out of a TKO, gets out of a rollup, and gets a rollup of his own for two. DDP misses one clothesline, but a second connects for a double KO. DDP drops Kanyon right on his neck with a urinage for two. Kanyon comes back with a sit-out Alabama Slam for two. DDP comes back with a sit-out powerbomb of his own for two. DDP goes for the Cutter, but Kanyon blocks, goes low, and hits the Kanyon Cutter...for two.Kanyon calls for Jarrett, but gets sent into him, and DDP gets a school boy for two. The ref gets bumped, and Jarrett sneaks in with a Stroke on DDP, then Kanyon finishes with the Flatliner. Pretty good stuff here, as both guys gave it what they had. Can't ask for more than that.-Kanyon asks the crowd who is better than he, then does his own ring intros for the next match.-Match 9: DDP VS Jeff Jarrett-DDP charges Jarrett, but promptly takes several punches and gets clotheslined outside, where they brawl for a bit, including a stint in the crowd. They end up at the announce table, where DDP get knocked into Tony. Jarrett hits a couple chairshots to the ribs, and they go back inside, where Jarrett gets a sleeper. DDP fights out, and begins his comeback. DDP hits a belly-to-belly for two, then a pancake for another near-fall. Kanyon runs out to help Jarrett, and it pays off, as Jarrett scores with an unprotected chairshot to the head for two.Kanyon hands Jarrett the guitar. Jarrett ends up accidentally hitting Kanyon, and DDP hits the Diamond Cutter out of nowhere for the pin. This was a pretty good brawl and they told a pretty good story with DDP constantly fighting from underneath, before Jarrett's reliance on the guitar and DDP's big finisher came into play.-A video previews Nash/BPP.-Match 10 for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Scott Steiner [c] (w/Midajah) VS Kevin Nash-Michael Buffer does BPP's intro, before BPP kicks him out of the ring. BPP runs through the people he's injured, and of course the fuckers show Sid's leg break about four or five more times. Flair gets in the ring and says this is also "Loser Leaves WCW". BPP goes for the forfeit win, but Nash gets wheeled out by nurses as the ref gets to six.Nash reveals the cast on his leg was fake, and he KO's BPP with the belt for the pin and apparently the title. Flair freaks out, and makes it 2/3 falls, no-DQ. DDP is shown walking backstage, ostensibly heading to the ring, but he gets jumped by Totally Buff and stuffed into a case.Midajah provides a distraction, allowing BPP to KO Nash with a pipe. BPP gets Flair to declare that it's also Falls Count Anywhere, and BPP gets the pin to make it 1-1. BPP continues to beat the shit out of Nash, but can't put him away. BPP opens Nash up with brass knucks in the process, and hits a couple suplexes. Nash makes a small comeback, but Midajah prevents him from getting the knucks, and Flair gives BPP a chair, which he uses to KO Nash and apply the Recliner.Nash powers out and hits a chokeslam, but Midajah attacks the ref. Nash hits a big boot and snake eyes, then hits the Jackknife, but Midajah attacks the ref again. Nash hits her with a sidewalk slam then covers BPP, but Flair pulls the ref out at two and KO's him. Nash goes after Flair, but takes a low blow from BPP. Flair slides another chair into the ring. BPP keeps Nash from getting it, KO's him with it, then applies the Recliner for the win. This was pretty chaotic and entertaining for what it was. I have to question the logic of making your monster heel champ look like a total chump, but I can't say I'm surprised with Nash being involved.-FINAL THOUGHTS: This was a fairly interesting show, with Flair being presented as being the rare competent heel authority figure who went into a show with a game plan and was able to execute it pretty much flawlessly up until the main event, which almost blew up in his face. The main event is better than most for WCW PPVs, the two cruiserweight matches are good, and both DDP matches are good. There are a couple stinkers in there, but they don't take up too much of the show's running time.-NEXT EVENT: Greed

To my recollection, that show was more or less the point where WCW seemed to have turned a corner in terms of the on screen product and was becoming quite watchable again.  The "Big Poppa Pump takes out all the main eventers" storyline was very effective, the young talent in the undercard was coming into their own, and, after two absolutely miserable years, WCW was becoming a viable pro wrestling company again.

So, of course...
