Did Showtime confirm if the next season is the final for Homeland? I really hope it isn't, since that finale last Sunday was pretty fuckin' awesome, but I'd understand if it is.

Because Ash vs. Evil Dead was axed, Bruce Campbell decided to retire the Ash character entirely. Not sure if he was just tired or what. Even though Evil Dead rules, I honestly only watched two or so episodes in its entire run. Bad fanboy, bad!

I'm glad Jim Jefferies got renewed, especially after his last project was dumped. Personally I feel he'd be better in the Jordan Klepper role after The Daily Show but they wanna grind that right winger parody into the dirt instead.

EDIT: Then again, The Opposition wasn't on the renewal list...

EDIT II: Thinking about that show just makes me miss The Nightly Show even more

Claire Danes has said she's done after next season and the showrunner has said it's likely that season 8 is it.  So, 90% chance it's done?

And I agree: awesome season.

A remixed version of Arrested Decelopment S4 is coming to Netflix on Friday, titled “Fateful Consequences”. It’s 22 episodes long and each episode is 22 minutes long. Instead of the episodes being solo character driven ones like the original S4, it’s all going to be cut up into the more traditional AD style, with intertwined stories

Season 5 is coming “soon”.

I agree 100% on both.

Anybody here watch Blackish?

I started recently and thought it was really funny until this season. Half the time its overly political and preachy. But would still have some funny stuff. But the last two episodes have been maudlin and depressing relationship shit. The last episode had no hint of a joke.
*
I know ABC pulled a political episode earlier this year. Is this Kenya Barris doing a Neil Young* style protest. Where he gives the network exactly what they asked for? Or is his actual marriage falling apart? I just know this has me missing the political shit.

*Neil Young would release albums off the beaten path. He recorded a country album. David Geffen refused to release it and demanded a rock album. So Young released a fifties style Rockabilly album.

I've never seen Blackish, but Everybody's Rockin is hilarious.

It is the best Rockabilly album made out of spite ever made.

Don't forget that they were also pissed off with Neil over Trans. I guess Geffin got cold feet... that didn't work out so well.

Quote

In November 1983, following the commercial failure of Everybody's Rockin', Geffen sued Young for $3.3 million, on the grounds that this record and its predecessor were "not commercial", and "musically uncharacteristic of [his] previous recordings." Young filed a $21 million countersuit, alleging breach of contract since Young had been promised no creative interference from the label.[1]

The suit backfired against Geffen, with label owner David Geffen personally apologizing to Young for the suit and for interference with his work. The lawsuit repelled prospective signees R.E.M., who were preparing to work with Geffen but upon hearing of the Young lawsuit signed with Warner Bros. instead.[2]

The year before the lawsuit, just after Young had signed to Geffen, his longtime manager Elliot Roberts was asked why Young had changed labels, and said, "I did have a much larger offer from R.C.A. about £4 Million more. David Geffen and I used to be partners and David has worked with Neil for a very long time. He totally relates to Neil as an artist and has no preconceived notions about Neil. He knows that he's capable of doing anything at any point, at any time... he will have the freedom to practice his art as he sees it, as opposed to when you make a deal where someone is paying you £1 - £2 million an album you feel obligated to give them commercial music that they can sell large numbers of. Neil's not concerned with selling large numbers of his records, he's concerned with making records that he's pleased with. Unfortunately they are not always commercial from the record company's point of view. David Geffen relates to that. He knows Neil may do a country album and then he may do an electric album because there's no rhyme or reason with Neil. It's what he's moved by."[7]

And a funny quote from Neil about Everybody's Rockin:

Young himself expressed fondness for the album, comparing it favorably to his acclaimed 1975 album Tonight's the Night, yet also acknowledging the truth of some of its harsher criticisms: "What am I? Stupid? Did people really think I put that out thinking it was the greatest fuckin' thing I'd ever recorded? Obviously I'm aware it's not."[2]

This is really, really good. I'm through two episodes and this is what Karate Kid 3 should have been.

Could not agree more. I loved the car ride music montage in the first episode.

I wonder if Ally ever appears again...

I've been binge watching old Roseanne episodes and Psych on Amazon Prime. Watched a few movies, like the new Power Rangers, The Big Sick, etc. on there too. I don't know about the Playstation app for Prime, but the one on the Xbox One doesn't have a bad interface at all. Easy to navigate. I mentioned it in the May wrestling discussion thread, but Amazon Prime is where I was watching old episodes of 90s Memphis TV. Their wrestling selection is really limited, but I think you'd probably enjoy some of that stuff. Greatest Heroes/Villains comps, etc.

I think it's worth it, personally.

Holy shit. Barry is fucking amazing. That was such a heavy, heavy episode. Bill Hader needs to get nominated for an Emmy for this.

Tonight, John Oliver eviscerated Rudolph Giuliani AND had a koala chlamydia ward named after him.

Truly a god among men.

It feels like they are going to cancel the show. It's not on the list of announced renewals yet, and the 2018/19 schedules are being released next week.

I don't have a problem with them exploring divorce. The show was never a straight comedy series anyway.

I feel like the straight comedy was its strength. The other stuff feels like awards bait. The last episode had no comedy. Just depressing maudlin garbage and I love Anthony Anderson. But I am at my limit.

- “Barry” was awesome last night. It’s a shame next week is the season finale.

- “Last Man On Earth” was pretty good too. I’m very curious as to where they go with this show next.

I'm really glad Barry is the season finale last week actually, since I can finally binge the show in one day. I'm always left wanting more of it when I finish an episode, so I told myself after the second episode that I wouldn't watch any more of the season until it finished.

There's only two episodes left in the season, and I think it's going to be focused on them getting divorced. So you may want to skip the rest of season four.

Depending on how the finale goes, Barry is one of the best new non-big budget shows to come around in awhile. I might be biased though, since I think Bill Hader is awesome, but the writing and acting is very good. Better than you would think. I thought it would be kinda silly and similar to Silicon Valley and man, it really isn't. There are some gut punches and last night's penultimate episode was a knockout.

Cancel bear has BLACK-ISH as a sure bet to be renewed, and they're pretty good about predictions.  Kenya is *pissed* about the pre-empted episode, and trying to get out of his contract so he can join Shonda at Netflix.
