MLB 2018 - OPENING DAY & APRIL

The White Sox announced that yesterday's attendance was 10,377

The Tampa Bay Tribune (since the Sox where playing the Rays) said the official number of people who actually attended with their ticket was... 974

If you don't count the no crowd game in Baltimore a few years ago (due to the riots) than it is the lowest attended game since 1997... which was almost 21 years to the date in Comisky!

Maybe stop having home games in Chicago in April

The Marlins have to have had smaller crowds than that. We went to a game there in September 2011 when they announced 21,000+... there were maybe 1000 people there.

Funnily enough there was just a story about that on that topic

http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2018/04/11/marlins-attendance-is-bad-but-at-least-theyre-being-honest-about-it/

Basically - the Marlins are changing the way they report attendance so it won't be as inflated anymore

But beyond like the last year or two - people are going to have to go back and count by hand for it to be accurate

Even for the embarrassing New York sports media the hot takes about Stanton being a flop and failure after a whole 12 games are lunacy. Joel Sherman is to baseball what Steve Simmonds is to hockey: pure dogshit in human form.

And... yanks sox are back to scrumming it up. Not surprising, mind you, after that "Hey, is that your leg? Let me spike it for you" slide didn't get punished, we knew the Unwritten Rules would be in effect, and while the Price is Right for Plinko, the time was right for Austin to get Plunko.

Shining Wizzzzarrrrrdd!

Actually, I think the best/worst way to make sure you get your shot at the pitcher is to preemptively take out the catcher.

The funny thing is after the pitcher NOPE'd out of it, Alcantra has a couple seconds to look around, and think "Maybe this wasn't such a great idea.." before both teams basically arrive to the fight on top of him.

Looking forward to more stories about them getting outdrawn by Jacksonville - their AA affiliate.

Remember when Mat Latos was actually good?

Well... Okay, neither do I. But still, this is ridiculous

TACKLE THE JACKAL!

Watching the Jackals game from inside the Yogi Berra Museum is a good time.

Very early season, but the Jays finding ways to win a couple games they could have very easily lost is good to see.

The bullpen is scary, Grichuk can't buy a hit and Stroman hasn't found his game yet but at least this year they have real live backups and guys at AAA that can contribute.

Yanks/Tigers rained out

That is the 4th Detroit postponement this year... all at home

It's not even April 15 yet

Make that rain outs 5 and 6 and both ends of today's DH get washed out

The teams will now play the DH on June 6 (which makes that a 11 game road trip for the Yanks)

A total of 6 games were postponed today
