notoriusvig Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 I picked up John Cosper's The Girl With the Iron Jaw for like $11 on Amazon. It's about lesser known women's wrestler Mars Bennett. It's a pretty quick read and looks pretty interesting so far. 2
Doragon Posted July 12, 2022 Posted July 12, 2022 (edited) The latest issue of Number with Okada on the cover. 50 years of NJPW, stuff about Strong Style, Tanahashi praising Inoki Ism, Muto's retirement talk with Nobuhiko Takada, and some Royal Road. AxB Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Looks like Tajiri's book at least is getting a release in English. 3
PetrolCB Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 I hope Tajiri's book has a pop up feature that mists you. 3 2
Hamhock Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Don’t toss his book aside lightly; it’ll handspring off the surface it lands on and then smack you on the rebound. 3
Happ Hazzard Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 Tajiri's book is expensive and only 132 pages. I'll give it a miss.
colonial Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Dory Funk Jr.'s autobiography comes out August 22 ... https://www.amazon.com/Last-Great-Breed-Stories-Wrestling/dp/166785058X/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=4ZPKM9VHV7RM&keywords=dory+funk+jr&qid=1659221723&sprefix=dory+funk%2Caps%2C131&sr=8-1 1
Ace Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Will a third of it be about Adam Windsor, like his 1wrestling posts were?
Cobra Commander Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 Wonder how badly Marti Funk alienated the people who usually publish wrestler books so that a Dory Funk book is being published by BookBaby (a self-publishing service)
Curt McGirt Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 (edited) Could be it's just cheaper. Our own Alan Boon used one for his Blood and Thunder book. Also, what's the deal with Marti Funk? Edited July 31, 2022 by Curt McGirt
Cobra Commander Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 If you’ve heard of the reputation that Bonnie Steamboat achieved when Ricky was working, then Marti Funk is a more aggressive form of that kind of approach. There’s various stories out there about her demanding more money from people for Dory, or the time that the WWF bolted from Dory for OVW because Marti got pissed that a drawing of Dory showed a bald spot, and the such. 1
Guest Stefanie Without Stefanie Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 There was also a story that Marti was mad that a fan got something relatively rare (I think it was a trading card) signed by Dory for free, so she snatched the item and marked over Dory's autograph.
Cobra Commander Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 yeah it might have been worded far different in this video
Linus Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Just finished Schneider’s Way of the Blade in three sittings. I have some issues with the formatting but the writing is excellent and reminds me why I fell in love with this place over 20 years ago. I’d definitely read another volume that delved deeper into sleazy lucha…
Curt McGirt Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Just remembered this: Next time, we need a table of contents with pages listed. There was one on the Amazon sample but not in the actual book. I might have said that before so if so, ignore

Cobra Commander Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 speaking of Marti Funk in relation to the Dory book
ka-to Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 I would love a good Dory Book, but True Stories makes me think that these are the Gunslinger Rap stories off of his old web page.
driver Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 FINALLY finishing up the Sheik book, three months after starting it. Considering it was my "Throne Room Read" I guess that is so be expected. Probably the most in-depth wrestler biography I have read. An excellent read. My next throne room read will be The Iron Jawed Lady(that I saw mentioned in this thread). It's still in the Amazon envelope. 2
davekool666 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 I just got done Justin Credibles book and I will give it 4.5/5. It's a fun and very easy read, finished the kindle book in about a week. Tells a lot of stories I had never heard before and gave insight to some I have. The only reason it didn't get 5/5 is because the last 5 or so pages talks about rehab, life after rehab, blah, blah blah, I'm not a fan of that stuff but I know why it's there, still, an excellent read highly reccommend it. Now I'm starting Brutus's book, any thoughts on it? 2
