RIPPA

Recommended Posts

All it takes is a shadow of a doubt, there was way more than a shadow. The LAPD have an uphill battle convincing me of anything in ideal circumstances. Blood evidence goes missing for periods and I'm out.

I also have doubts about one man with busted knees decapitating two relatively young people.

Eh, I guess. But it seems like they had a strong case right away, and knew it, so why bother?

Even with Avery, it's pretty obvious the reason they did all that was because they knew the evidence as it was wasn't nearly enough. But there was no lack of evidence here. Why take the risk?

Then again: It's possible shady LAPD cops just can't stop being shady even, when you know, they have no reason to be.

I don't think OJ did it but I do think he had it done.

Goldman and Nicole were probably into some extracurricular but last time I checked, infidelity did not warrant a death sentence.  All of that "they were only acquaintances" talk is bullshit.  You don't let your male waiter friend drive your Ferrari around town.

It wasn't infidelity. OJ and Nicole were divorced already. And really, OJ didn't do it but he had it done (by person or persons unknown), is where the law stands. He was found not guilty in the murder case, but liable for the deaths in the civil case.

You don't really get divorced from a guy like OJ, man, and OJ being a celebrity made it worse.  It seems like nearly all famous people fall out and fall back in and trade spouses in the interim..

The thing that disturbs me are the attacks on Nicole's character that persist to this very day.  OJ probably fed her coke habit and we all know the deal between football players and football wives.  I have a hard time believing that she was a willing participant in all of that and the drugs enslaved her and served as her coping mechanism.  The idea that her reputation still has stains on it really bothers me.

I dunno, I don't see Brad and Jen hooking back up again in this lifetime. Or Brad and Gwyneth, for that matter.

Do you reckon the real reason Kanye picked up Kim was so Jay-Z would finally agree to swap with him?

Those cases don't appear to be the norm.  Ben and Jen spent Valentine's Day together.  The Rock's ex is still his business manager and they get along just fine. Ad nauseum.

Hollywood celebs run in the same circles and you learn quick to never completely burn your bridges.  The marriages for love sadly do not seem to work as well as the marriages of convenience for sake of business do.

Do you reckon the real reason Kanye picked up Kim was so Jay-Z would finally agree to swap with him?

I have no idea.  I am not that high up in the stratosphere to be cool with them like that.  What super wealthy grown folks do on their own time is their own business.

A lot of women in the entertainment/pop culture world get passed around like cake at Hyman Roth's birthday party. It has been happening before the talkies was even a thing.

You say that like it makes it okay.

Accepted <> Acceptable.

And yeah, it was and is standard practice and not likely to go away any time soon.  And yeah, some women voluntarily put themselves into those positions and situations.  Some even make it out with a little power themselves.

It's basically what you said in your second paragraph. You run in the same circles, then that's what going to happen. People like Amber Rose and these housewives (who aren't really housewives) aren't famous because of anything talent related. They're famous because being a professional slut has always kinda been a thing. So in addition to that, guys sharing the same women isn't that rare of an occurence.

I don't know if I'd call anyone a professional slut, but the group of women who seem to be in the rap, actor, athlete circle is surprisingly small.  It really feels like all of the rich, single, famous dudes hang out in the same 10-15 places and those women know where to find them.  I live around DC, and spent most of my 20s enjoying the local night life.  I rarely found myself in the same place as a local athlete or celebrity.  Odds are I didn't meet any of those women either.  They live in a world we don't even visit.

Is golddigger an antiquated/sexist term these days?

The NBA all-star break disagrees with you, sir.

There are prostitution stings every year now at the Super Bowl and NBA All-Star weekend. Some women are smart enough to parlay that hustlebox (a Corey Holcomb ™) into a lucrative and fruitful more long-term lifestyle.

Professional slut isn't something I'd call anyone.  There is a such thing as a prostitute, and plenty of women on the come up, but professional slut isn't really what I'd call a woman.  The game is the game, and if you play you can't be out here insulting people.

I'm just saying, if you are a boxer you shouldn't judge people for punching people in the face.  If you are out here trying to attract women with your money and status, you can't be insulted when a woman wants you for your money and status.  That is the game you chose to play, and every now and then you might get hit with a knockout blow (wait, is that a bad thing?).  Calling someone a bad name, because they are better than you at the game you chose to play is some sucker shit.  Charge it to the game and move on with your life, otherwise you might end up like Kanye with your ex telling the world about how you like a finger in the butt.

Kanye is still Kanye and the most popular rapper/most celebrated crazy person on the planet (Trump might be up there as a close 2nd) in the world right now. Anything said about him or anything he does is pretty much all encompassing. If Amber Rose can sell out MSG for an impromptu future homeless wear fashion show/listening party, then good for her. But she can't because that's not what she is celebrated for. Now if she was doing some Houston 500 type shit out on the arena floor, it would be dudes hitchhiking from the fucking Everglades. She might look like an old glazed donut afterwards, BUT she would definitely get her 22,000 people in there quite literally.

But that's the tradeoff. Just like Kanye and other rappers lend themselves to be criticized, you have people like Karrine Steffans, Kat Stacks, Evelyn Lozada, and Cardi B along with several others who are only around pushing an agenda that women of color are only around to be fashionable sluts. I mean Lozada is a lawyer so I mean it's basically something that's not confined to just strippers and low end escorts. Why is Lozada getting karate chopped by Ochicinco and the Govan sisters basically being ran through by everyone in the NFL and NBA something that should be respected? That's a rhetorical question, BTW.

You can't in turn criticize someone for criticizing you for criticizing them. If you're a professional slut, that's just what you are. It should not be sugarcoated.

After last night's OJ episode, I want to know why Joseph Siravo (Johnny Boy from The Sopranos) isn't working on more high profile projects. His monologue as Fred Goldman was heartbreaking. The acting on this show is all over the map from kitschy to career highlights.

You are missing the point.  You are judging women for having sex with a few guys you've heard of, but you know absolutely nothing else about them.  How is that worse than your last girlfriend who may or may not have slept with twice as many guys that you haven't heard of?  The only real difference is that you know the three of four random dudes that Amber Rose has been with, but don't know the 23 dudes that Amber Jones was with the week before you met her in the club.  Is Amber Jones an unprofessional slut?  Is she a slut at all? Do you care if you like her and she likes you?  Do you know that Amber Rose is a slut?  Are you just making this shit up?  We all have some sexual experiences with some people we'd like to forget, we just get to do it anonymously.  If you meet a girl at the mall tomorrow, are you going to interrogate her about how many dudes she was with or are you going to try to get to know her?  Stop judging people for their sexual past, especially if you don't know them.  Why is it better for these dudes to want these women for their bodies than it is for these women to want these men for their money and status? You are the one who is pushing the agenda that thse women are high fashion sluts.  Most of them were just in failed relationships with famous men.
