Brian Fowler Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Forget that Let It Go (which is the song from Frozen) is a Disney song, or amazingly popular, or what have you. You should hear it because it's Idina Menzel, one of the greatest vocalists alive today, absolutely cutting loose on a huge fucking number. Oh, and... Weird Al rules! YEAH! 1
Super Ape Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I got to see Weird Al live last year. He puts on an INCREDIBLE show, and he loads up clips from AlTV between songs. I can't wait until he starts doing Word Crimes live. If he does it just like the Robin Thicke video but with conservatively dressed school marms, I'll spit.
Hooks Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Liking Weird Al just might be the one thing that all people with common sense have in common. Being consistently funny for 30 + years is tough thing to do. Making quality music for 30 + years is a tough thing to do. To be consistently great at both at the same time? It should be impossible but somehow he has pulled it off. 2
Jingus Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 See I was about to ask if it was because you didn't like "Blurred Lines" because I have run into that issue before where if the song Al is parodying is one I hate - it is really hard for me to like the parody I swear I have never heard it. Somehow. Or "Happy" or that other one. I'm an old man out of touch with today's young people. Some irony here, in that Robin Thicke (the "singer" of "Blurred Lines") is very middle-aged himself.
Chaos Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 That time Weird Al went Normal:http://gawker.com/glimpse-the-terrifying-alternate-future-where-weird-al-1606513185?utm_campaign=socialflow_gawker_facebook&utm_source=gawker_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
LooseCannon Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I swear I have never heard it. Somehow. Or "Happy" or that other one. I'm an old man out of touch with today's young people. Well, then, a cranky old man should not search out the uncensored video for Blurred Lines. 1
Bustronaut Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Weird Al is a bold choice to play the 10th Doctor
RIPPA Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I can't be the only one who thinks that a Weird Al Unplugged would be the greatest fucking thing ever 5
Bustronaut Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I would LOVE an unplugged, or even a DVD of him in concert. It's one of the best shows I've ever been to. eta: HOLY SHOT! http://youtu.be/33XKtC0xVuQ
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 The Normal Al video was back when MTV actually had a sense of humor about itself. That seems so long ago. And then there was the 30 Rock episode where Al kept parodying Jenna until she went incoherently weird, and then Al parodied THAT:
Dolfan in NYC Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Oh, and today's video is "Handy" https://screen.yahoo.com/popular/weird-al-yankovic-handy-parody-133702425.html I would say something about y'all not knowing who Charli XCX is, but, you know "No Strikes".
Bustronaut Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 No joke, when I first heard "Fancy" I thought it was a Gwen Stefani song. I later found out it was an Iggy Azelea song, THEN when I watched the video I discovered the Gwen-a-like was Charli XCX and found a new artist to follow. 1

Rev Ray Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 As a side note, Al is on the latest Never Not Funny with Jimmy Pardo podcast on Earwolf.
NikoBaltimore Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I just love Weird Al. Can't say enough good things about what he does. Not a video per se, but him doing polka to hit songs got a big laugh out of me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6i_MXp9Dfs
Tabe Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I swear I have never heard it. Somehow. Or "Happy" or that other one. I'm an old man out of touch with today's young people. Man, you gotta be really, really, really out of touch to not have heard "Happy". That song's only been...everywhere...for several months. And that's coming from a guy that never listens to the radio. 1
Brian Fowler Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Blurred lines is the only one of these I've heard the original.
Lamp, broken circa 1988 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I don't know, the internet actually makes it pretty easy to dodge songs if you care enough. For example, I still haven't heard Let It Go or Royals, and I don't really intend to. although happy is a pretty good tune so maybe don't be afraid of that one.
jstout Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I swear I have never heard it. Somehow. Or "Happy" or that other one. I'm an old man out of touch with today's young people. Swear to God, not one note of it. I never listen to the radio or watch TV. I know the guy wears a hat.
Ace Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I'm extra tickled by today's video, because he's wearing my school's colors.
RIPPA Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 "We're Great. You Suck" is going to become a meme and we will all be sad
