blitzkrieg
I'm happy that Nia gets a title reign because it felt like she was on that level when she was on Raw but there wasn't really room for her to actually hold the title on Raw. Bayley has had a really good Bret Hart "have great matches with everyone" reign but she's really lacked any true feuds. I imagine Bayley eventually wins it back from Nia only for Tiffy to cash in on her and switch Nia to being Tiffy's muscle. odessasteps
I was only talking about the UUDD show. They had Pretty Deadly on yesterday and were supposed to have Jade but she wasn’t there. I know the Charlotte wrestling convention was yesterday.
Ramo2653
4 hours ago, odessasteps said: Presumably, it’s because they were trying to tease just who Roman would help, even though we all knew he was turning face. It seems like they had the announcers saying things like “who is here for?” And the like. I thought they might have had the Usos come out too, but I guess there’s no need to rush this long drawn out, never ending soap opera. Yeah I think it was Graves saying who's side is he on or something and I mean it's not like the guy who who's nickname was The Tribal Chief wearing a shirt with the initials of OTC wouldn't be coming for his underling who's calling himself the new Tribal Chief or anything? I was at a birthday party earlier so I missed the everything before Knight/Paul so I caught those matches this morning. I dug the show overall and liked the story beats with Punk/Drew and Priest/Gunther, it's the simple story of your emotions getting the better of you which is a common trope in American wrestling. Kinda wanted Priest to retain here to set up a rematch in Berlin but they're going ahead with the Judgement Day falls story instead. Raw won't be centered around Gunther like it is with JD or even Cody or the Bloodline on SD so it'll be interesting to see who they line up for him going forward. Logan Paul is as talented as he is an awful person. With these big matches, the crowd is being trained to look for big moments instead of falling for the action in the match which is why there's a lot of hand sitting in some of these matches. Not sure if that's a good thing or not, but they're making money hand over fist so I'm sure the office does. I want to say it's gotten even more soap opera like with the change over to HHH which I didn't expect.

TheVileOne
Overall, a good show. Some good matches. Nothing MOTY worthy, but there was some good stuff, some good title changes, and good storyline advancement. LA Knight and Logan Paul turned out quite well. Pre-match brawl was good, and their match was also impressive. That said, a lot of my good will toward Logan Paul has been exhausted as of late. It's such a shame because he clearly has a talent for this. He's super athletic, and he looks more seasoned than guys with hundreds of matches. He's a perfect heel. The problem is it's not a gimmick. His douchebag activities make him the perfect heel, but now he's doing garbage in real life that makes me not even want to watch him as a wrestler. Dude is a f'n dumpster fire right now. I don't think he's quite as bad as Matt Riddle or Jeff Hardy per se, but eventually he's going to do or say the wrong thing and embarrass WWE. I'm sympathetic to a point where if I was that young and rich, with a lot of hanger-ons and financial parasites, an entourage to support, not to mention a constant grind to satisfy social media followers while coming off as young, hip, and cool for the TikTok generation, I'd probably make a lot of dumb mistakes too. But there's still a limit to that. In the last few months, he's filed a frivolous lawsuit against CoffeeZilla over his crypto scam, something he already previously apologized for, he failed to reimburse his investors as he's promised, interviewed Trump on his show, and now he got into that whole garbage debate over Imane Khelif and probably caused her a lot of undeserved harassment over it when she did nothing wrong, all over a BS claim by a a regulatory body the Olympics doesn't even acknowledge. I suppose credit for WWE for creatively ignoring the Logan Paul issue. They smartly downplayed and simply wouldn't acknowledge it publicly. I'm not approving how they handled it, but they avoided feeding the fire I suppose and they're simply hoping this quietly moves away while waiting for people to move on for the next thing to get upset over. That said, the way Triple H was praising Logan Paul last night left a bad taste in my mouth. Yes, I think he's a great athlete and he's damn good at this whole wrestling thing, but he's still a douchebag. The Judgment Day implosion played out exactly as I expected last night, but that's not a bad thing. The storyline has been great and built up very well. I figured that Dom would turn on Rhea Ripley, and then Finn would turn on Priest. It makes perfect sense. Of course Finn was in on this. Finn is the leader of the team, but he will clearly be pissed at Rhea Ripley for getting more popular and bigger than him and trying to usurp his leadership. Meanwhile, Priest became the world champion and arguably more successful than Finn ever did. Priest would routinely refuse his help. Now the Judgment Day no longer consists of any of its original members. I think they can make good stuff happen out of this angle. Priest and Gunther had a great match. Yes, I predictably saw that outcome coming, but it's a case of that's the outcome you need because that's what they've been building to for months, and you needed this to happen at some point. Gunther's chest looked so gnarly. They really were chopping meat. I don't really get why Bron Breakker lost last month and won this month. I feel you just as easily could've had Bron win last month's match instead of putting all the big title changes on tonight's show. Is this a bigger stage for Bron? Yes it is, but pretty much every stage is big for WWE right now. Last month, it felt like Bron losing was wrong. The only benefits I could see for putting it off for one month is SummerSlam is a bigger show. You get Bron's first major loss out of the way and see how he can recover from it, which he did very quickly. Still, I feel like not pulling this off and starting his reign at Money in the Bank was kind of just a pointless delay. Good win by Nia Jax. Jax and Gunther winning at least sells that winning King of the Ring is important now if they keep the idea that winning guarantees you a title shot at SummerSlam. I think though when Tiffany Stratton eventually cashes in, the pop is going to be huge, and she's going to be a huge star. Not a big noteworthy run for Bayley. She did OK, but she kind of ran out of steam once she beat Iyo Sky and broke off from Damage CTRL. Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa was the least interesting match on the card, at least from an in-ring perspective. I like Solo, but he's clearly not ready for this spot, and while I think he's got a lot of the character work down, he looks relatively incomplete from a big-match singles standpoint. The main event went on far too long. Now granted, this was all about Roman's return, Roman attacking Solo, and now we have a Bloodline civil war. All that came out fine, but the match itself just kind of dragged until they got into all the interference. The only reason this was the main event was because of Roman's return. Otherwise, I think Gunther vs. Priest should've been the main event. Edited August 4 by TheVileOne

Nattie gets a lot of hate and alot of people don't think much of her as a worker but Nia worked with her alot at her and TJs ring set up before her return and probably still does. They've helped people like Dawkins improve so much. It also shows how the Performance Center training isn't the best at building talent from the ground up. Nia has very thick skin. She handles the criticism well and throws it back at people occasionally on social media

StuntmanCrowley
I almost feel like they put off Bron winning last month just to give Sami another month of the reign and now he has the perfect timing of not having a belt just in time for Bloodline Civil War. Speaking of Bloodline, I was reading that Zilla Fatu was in the crowd but also no-showed an indy date last night and is not doing a GCW date tonight. Niners Fan in CT
This was a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, I did enjoy most of the storytelling beats going on with Liv/Dom and then Finn/Priest to go along with all the Punk/Drew drama and Roman returning. On the other hand, I didn't love it from an in-ring standpoint. I thought Priest vs. Gunther was very good but everything else was just solid or average. RazorbladeKiss87
This is what Cody's entrance reminded me of: https://youtu.be/zQESCXgp0Nk?si=UIWG3PxezMAm0gml Luv/Rhea was my match of the night along with Gunther/Priest. Too many shitty finishes on this, even if they were logical. I'm glad I didn't make the trip to Cleveland for this. The Punk/Drew match was letdown. It's laughable how lame Punk is at this point, and I'm saying this as someone who is only still watching wrestling thanks to him and Dragon keeping me wanting to check out their progress.

He only been wrestling a year now. He probably could work circles around Guerrillas of Destiny and Solo all ready but I haven’t seen too much of his work. He’s got a presence with him that Jacob has. He works at Bookers promotion and he has people like Shelton, Carlito and a few other of his Dads close friends guiding him. He also mentioned he is friends with Dom Mysterio , so I’m sure he has a contract waiting for him. I’d like for him to stick around 6 months to a year because once he gets signed he’ll probably right in the Bloodline and straight in that WWE system

Well given that Jacob Fatu thing is that not only can you not hit him on the head you can't even drop him on his head in a DDT fashion, they might as well bring up Samoan stereotype
