AEW TV - 7/3 - 7/9/2024 - Britt Be A Dentist... And You'll Be A Success!

Recommended Posts

On the one hand Darby is a natural for team AEW if he's healthy on the other hand he will definitely die in that match.

I really liked the camera work on the finish in the main event, shooting Garcia tight so you don't see Ospreay until he crashes into the frame.

Very heel heavy show, but it was a good one.

Britt/Mercedes segment was good stuff. Mercedes getting a little heat rub from the Bucks, then going out there and big-timing the AEW original to massive heat. The facial expressions from both women as the crowd chanted DMD (pure disgust from Mercedes, and a nearly tearful appreciative smile from Britt) literally made the whole feud.

Jarrett, that sly old dog, just pulled out one of the better TV matches this year. I think Dustin has been trying to get that "one last shot" type of match for like 3 years straight to mediocre results, and Jeff put on a master class. Hangman was great here too, don't get me wrong. Both guys deserve credit for shaking off the "welcome back" pop for Hangman quickly and getting the crowd to pop big for a couple babyface Jarrett spots. The desperation Stroke on the apron, and ducking the first buckshot into the sharpshooter were both excellent spots. Goes to show you can get a great story out of a match with minimal build.

The Learning Tree group finally got one over on Joe's School of Hard Knocks. It lacks the right irony level for the "Jericho vortex" meme, but match-wise, there's still some juice there.

Main event was solid, and MJF heel turn was well done. Now that Ospreay is there to carry the top babyface mantle, MJF can go back to his natural habitat, though I think his face work was underrated. Garcia is finally breaking through with this angle, but I hope they run MJF/Ospreay with a completely over-the-top face/heel dynamic at Wembley.

Thank God we're done with babyface MJF for a while. Every second of it is massively cringe inducing. Like going back and watching The Rock in the late 1990's where every second line is a shitty misoganyst joke, but with MJF it's using insider terms for cheap pops.

Forgot to mention that. Cheers.

For people saying that he was cosplay the Triple H 2002 act with the look and return, I guess we are getting the HBK beat down cosplay about 3 months ahead of schedule.  If this the plan, the next year of MJF is going to beva reign of terror

Ospreay vs MJF at All In is going to be insane but seems like currently a booking nightmare.  If losing to Swerve his idea in order to show losing can make you stronger, not sure if you should repeat it twice

Daddy Magic's promo on socal media afterwards was old school as hell and it's a fucking shame its not gonna amount to anything.

Hangman's new song sounded like a cross between his theme and "Man with a Harmonica", and that's a callback I can get into if that was their intention. Invoke Terry Funk's 1989 run where he went crazier than ever. Go for it. Just stop making him talk like Christian Bale-era Batman.

Yeah, Daddy Magic's gonna be a smear on the canvas by the end of Saturday night, next Wednesday at latest. Maybe try and fluff him up and have a nice match with purpose on the undercard of Blood and Guts where he gets wrecked. Super hyped for MJF/Ospreay, the build more than the match. It's their current super duper #1 babyface against the best heel the company's ever had.

I hope this episode does a great rating as it deserves to.

Even if it doesn't,  AEW needs to stay the course IMO.  Last night felt like they had their energy back and the way to win people over is by being consistent.

I keep seeing people making the comparison to the HHH turn on Shawn, and I see the resemblence. But the funny thing is that not too many folks seem to remember what was happening before that. Shawn was part of the nWo and had been cutting quasi heel promos for a couple of weeks inviting HHH to join them, including veiled threats if he chose not to. Then Nash tore his quad in the ten man tag on Raw and Vince pulled the plug on the whole group, leading to a one minute DX reunion and HHH laying him out.

No matter how @Niners Fan in CT tries to spin it, that heat Mercedes was getting wasn’t the right kind. Didn’t feel like it to me, anyway. Especially when Britt mentioned her the first time. It’s entirely possible that I’m misreading the situation, but to me it felt like “we hate this idiot” heat. I can’t wait to hear about how this is “coded language…”

You've been watching wrestling for too long to be this wrong.  They played it perfectly.  The crowd isn't going to cheer for an "outsider" over their homegrown star. They did every little disrespectful thing they could to make sure there would be no question who the heel is.  "We hate this idiot" sounds more like projecting to me and it works because you're already worked up one segment into the feud.

I'd be pissed off being behind that guy. He doesn't sit the fuck down.

Just started watching the show. Immediately came here to see if anyone else noticed this dude.

he’s driving me crazy. You’re literally the front row. Sit. Down.

Normally security will tell them to sit down.

We’re now about two months in with really good to great episodes of Dynamite every week. Like I said before, just keep doing what you’re doing, don’t flinch at ratings, and don’t change it up.

And last night ruled. I like that Hangman isn’t purely an attack dog for the EVPs. I was getting Steve Austin vibes from him.
