meanwhile the Red Zone studios has an alarm going off in the background

The things you learn

Red Zone has an entire backup crew in another studio across the country in New Jersey for exactly scenarios like this - they were preparing to have to go on (for the first time ever) but it was quickly determined it was a false alarm that was why Scott Hansen was allowed to go back on the air with the sirens still going on in the background

So Ron Rivera has increased his power (for now)

I didn't see anyone posting the news, but CBS is saying the Riverboat is docking for good at the end of the season.

Whether he quits/retires/is fired is a matter of wording rather than anything of substance.

And Eric Bienemy just files his nails on the sidelines...

So watching the Steelers game last night.  offensively the performance was much better but still need to deal with points.  A lot of yards that went nowhere near the redzone.   But it was a small improvement over the rest of the week.

There is one issue on this team and apparently we have ANOTHER diva wide receiver on this team.  Seems to be a pattern lately.  Diontae Johnson got into a scuffle with Minka earlier in the week which is bad enough as it is.  Then yesterday Diontae had maybe one of the laziest plays of the year.

This could probably go in the media section but it works here, too.  Alex Smith calls out Tom Brady for criticizing "this era" of the NFL and then says the quiet part out loud - that Brady and the Pats benefited from "the softest division in history".  All while sitting next to Randy Moss, Teddy Bruschi, and Rex Ryan:

And yet kept Thomas Brown, who was even WORSE calling plays than Frank Reich, gave him playcalling duties back and expect for things to be .... better?

I am enjoying that he will get help from Jim Caldwell instead of Caldwell being made the interim HC

Frank Reich being as bad as he was and then fired shows how corrupt the Rooney Rule really is.  Can't tell me that Steve Wilks  would have been a worse coach.  Would have been a losing coach but not so bad that the Bears want to throw a parade for him.

It has come out that the Panthers also fired Assistant HC/RB Coach Duce Staley

QB coach Josh McCown was also given his pink slip.

Also, someone apparently thought Josh McCown had the ability to coach.

When your #1 overall pick QB looks completely lost 3/4 of the way into a season, your QB coach is going to get some second looks, to say the least.

Meanwhile, #2 overall is averaging 300 yards per game and has thrown just 5 picks.

And on this - per almost all the reporting, Reich and staff wanted CJ Stroud but David Tepper suddenly was all NO! I WANT BRYCE YOUNG! and Reich and staff agreed as to not cause any issues.

And look what that got him

must've been one of those Vince McMahon things where the correct answer is actually to fight back against his dumb idea to show your initiative or whatever

Frank Reich went from having success early in Indy, being a real rising star coach, and getting a lot of "maybe he's the real reason the Eagles won that super bowl" whispers to being fired twice in about a year. Life comes at you fast in the NFL.

I didn't really think he deserves to be fired in Indy. On paper this year makes way more sense, but if it's really Tepper punishing him for not developing the QB Reich didn't want anyway... Well, life comes at you fast in the NFL.
