The Man Known as Dan
I buy that Heyward took less money to sign with the Cubs over Washington, but the reports the Cards had a bigger offer for him then the Cubs did? Oh shit son.

Ryan
He could only ride the arch so many times. That's code for something else. Would you rather be a Cardies fan or a Brewers fan the next 3-5 years of insufferable sucking and re-building?
piranesi
This whole deal is a proper professional gelding of a beloved franchise. Our best strategy now is to cultivate a Varys-like hatred and series of baroque plots to install Carlos Marmol as commissioner.
cubbymark
Word has it there may be up to two opt-out clauses for Heyward in his deal with the Cubs tied into plate appearances. Point is, he's going to be an FA again by age 30. We'll see if hitting at Wrigley might be the thing to up his power numbers and reach his potential. RIPPA
I am just wondering why it took so long since clearly he wasn't going to play for anyone else I mean he turned down multiple 200 million deals
Craig H
That's a good question. One I hadn't thought about yet. I wonder if some of that had to do with the opt out clauses and seeing how much Theo and Jed would bend.
sabremike
Word going around that Michael Cuddyer is going to retire. That means $13 million in payroll opens up for us. Hope this means we go hard for Cespedes or CarGo. Have a bad feeling the Wilponzis will pocket the money, hopefully they prove me wrong.
Niners Fan in CT
8/$184 Damn, Cubs. So what's the plan in Atlanta? I've never been this detached. Of course, I've had other issues with my sports teams also. Every young player I start to like is being traded away. I didn't think the team would ever become the new Tampa Rays. The Man Known as Dan
To be fair, Braves fans should still be on high from the ass beating they gave the Diamondbacks in the Miller trade. That looks like the Cubs deal for Russell to me, except possibly better.
