Mister TV Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Is it wrong that I'm more disappointed in the offsides penalty at the end over the slant pass call? I really wanted a safety, either Seattle stuffing them or New England taking one on purpose, so we could have seen the Super Bowl end on a 70+ yard fair catch kick attempt.

Just about everyone I know who was in a football pool wanted a safety. 1
Jrag Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I don't get it. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=nathan+for+you Enjoy.
Brian Fowler Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Conservatives are really upset at that one ad. No, not that one. Or that one. Or that one either. Not even that one. So I take it that the whole land conservation message zoomed right over their heads. And what Brian said. The song is a fucking ode to communism. It was written as a rebuke to Berlin's God Bless America. Not just that. If you spend enough time in American Socialist circles, you'll hear a lot of half joking "After the revolution, This Land is Your Land will be the new national anthem" lines.
NikoBaltimore Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I was reading Billboard's take on the commercial and read this about Nissan's ad: "If you're going to create a car commercial that prominently features a car crash, maybe don't soundtrack it with a song ("Cat's in the Cradle") by a guy who was killed in a car crash (singer-songrwriter Harry Chapin, who died in 1981). Nissan tweeted this was their way to honor his memory, but it still feels off. Is the message that he should have been driving a Nissan?" On top of them not getting the point of the song, reading this I can only say fuck Nissan. Horrible in every way.
Brian Fowler Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I still can't get over Brady, down ten to start the first drive, going 13-15 for 124 and two scores against THAT defense on his last two meaningful possessions. Or everything after that.
Robert C Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the people bitching about the Jeep add have never heard of Woody Guthrie. Hoping somebody manages to troll em next with either Born in the USA or that godawful Lee Greenwood song.
J.T. Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I have to give Nissan a pass because they fucking debuted their prototype race car last night in that commercial. That shit is totally badass.

Hoping somebody manages to troll em next with either Born in the USA or that godawful Lee Greenwood song. It will go down as one of the biggest advert gaffes since Carnival Cruises had Lust For Life by Iggy Pop as the background track for their commercial. No one in marketing these days listens to song lyrics or does their research. 1
Brian Fowler Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I want to give a medal to whoever the reporter was that asked Belicheck if he'd ever seen a catch as crazy as that. "I've seen a couple of them."
pipGofern Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I have to give Nissan a pass because they fucking debuted their prototype race car last night in that commercial. That shit is totally badass. Yeah everybody was fixated on the misuse of Cat's In the Cradle when all I could pay attention to was the dad's race car. I was like "Holy shit! Nissan has actually gone and designed the Mach 5!"

Cole Miner Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Conservatives are really upset at that one ad. No, not that one. Or that one. Or that one either. Not even that one. Just like Born in the USA they completely missed the point of the song.
elizium Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Can't believe they cut away from this. Such a great celebration.
CSC Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Here's the video of people reacting to the Butler pick: The "Find Arrest Records Online" ad that popped up on that video right in the middle of the first dude screaming could not have been more perfect. 1
Technico Support Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Sometimes coaches get too fucking cute, don't they? "Oh, they're expecting that, so I'll do THIS! It's a masterstroke!" The reason they expect "that" is because "that" works.
Cole Miner Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I wonder if they would have just run the ball had they not wasted those 2 time outs on the drive. Still don't like the call but they really only had the option to run once there at the one yard line.
johnnyboy Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Pats fans, I wouldn't feel too good knowing that you won considering Carrol shit the bed. That's not the best way to win, even if you want to use the "A win is a win" line. Sorry, but that's absolute bollocks. I feel superb. There are no guarantees. Most people would have taken a Lynch run, but there's every possibility that could have been stonewalled. Then again, most people would have kicked a field goal with 6 seconds to go in the first half. If Seattle settled for a field goal there then there wouldn't even have been an opportunity to win at the end. Patriots make a field goal in SB42 instead of going for it then even the flukiest catch of all time doesn't give the Giants the lead. You convert those chances you're a genius football savant. You don't and you're a dickhead. Even with that, Butler still has to make the play as otherwise it's a touchdown. An incompletion only gives Seattle another chance with a ton of time chewed off the clock.

Still don't like the call but they really only had the option to run once there at the one yard line. I said last night that I think Seattle were expecting NE to call a timeout to leave Brady some time on the clock. In some ways I'm glad BB showed some faith in the defence rather than expecting Brady to pull a rabbit out of his arse with 15 seconds left on the clock.
Brian Fowler Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 And do give Butler credit, he was a good six yards off the receiver when Wilson drew back to throw. Amazing break on the ball.
NikoBaltimore Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 If Lynch ran and couldn't score, then at least it's easy to say the NE defense came through in the clutch. I don't hate on Butler and he does seem like a swell guy. The history books will indicate the interception and everything, no problem with that. It's just that more people are going to look back going "Why did they call that?!" instead of "The defense came through at the end." It'll be the first thing said years down the line on any of those football specials. But given what else the Patirots are in the news for, that might be the least of their worries. This isn't meant as an insult as you guys are generally good people. But I have a hard time accepting a win in situations like that, whether it's my team or not. Maybe that's just me.
