RIPPA
I have been trying to think of another "event" to run for awhile when Ed came to me babbling about some sort of dream that involved tag teams where one member had already died. I have no fucking idea where he got it - I just know that we started thinking of tag teams and had a billion. And that running this will make people cry when their favorites lose. Or everyone ignores it. While we were trying to think of teams - completely independently - JT send me a message that was all YOU SHOULD TOTALLY DO A HALF-DEAD TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT!!! So clearly this was a sign that this was happening. And JT needs to get the fuck out of our heads. This will be a two stage... thing. Actual voting will go up tomorrow. RULES AND EXPLANATION Wrestler could only be used once Teams are made up of one dead member and one living member Teams are from OUR LIFETIME (Basically since the early 70s... we only kinda really stretched for a few teams) We tried to do teams that teamed regularly... basically if had tag title it was good enough for us. Just work with us people. STAGE ONE We are starting with 72 teams. We actually thought of more but some of them are pretty thin. But I needed a number that would work properly with the wacky format. There will be 6 "Battle Royals" of 12 teams. In each poll, you can vote for up to 4 teams (it is honor system - but since vote is public I will see if you cheat and totally wipe out your vote). In each group - TOP 5 VOTE GETTERS ADVANCE. (30 teams advance that way) Of the remaining teams - the two teams (regardless of group) with the highest vote total advance (thus bringing us to 32) STAGE TWO Straight 32 man tournament. Seeding will be somehow based on the results of the "battle royals" but I haven't figured out that part yet. Teams in the next post
RIPPA
THE TEAMS I tried to make sure people knew what wrestlers we were talking about so don't be all WARRIOR WASN'T WARRIOR WHEN HE WAS WITH STING!!! And the "Battle Royals" were drawn randomly with a few tweaks to try and balance things. Oh and one obvious gimmick. EdA
Yeah. It was the Hansen wrestler of the day thing that made me think of it. And then all the combos starting popping in my head and I realized quickly this will be better than the Dead Crockett Cup. And yeah, JT randomly hitting Rippa with that as we were arguing over like the Southern Rockers was just all sorts of spooky. Don't get in our heads, JT, it's frightening. So very frightening. Oh and I would LOVE to take the blame for the 3 Hollywood Blondes teams, but that is Rippa trying to fuck with people.
Matt D
Ring #1 is nuts. Stupid questions: Are these like the WWF battle royals where if one member of the team gets eliminated, both do? Or is it not like that at all and it's just PICK YOUR FOUR FAVORITE. What is our criteria, damn it!

If you want to use "WELL ITS A BATTLE ROYAL! HE WOULD NEVER BE ELIMINATED!" fine. Just vote for up to 4 teams in a ring... and don't dick over the Brazos

LooseCannon
If the living half of a team dies during the running of this tournament, is that team automatically eliminated?
RIPPA
If the living half of a team dies during the running of this tournament, is that team automatically eliminated? Aww... with wrestling you never know. Yes - they would be eliminated else for some reason it hopes before I post the voting for the Battle Royales. Because if it is before I can always sub a team in
EdA
Golly. Now Rippa and I are going to make a side bet on who dies in the middle of this.

EdA
BISON SMITH AND AKITOSHI SAITO FOR THE FUCKING WIN. HAH. Yay? Fortunately, I just remembered this morning that Bison Smith died. At least that kept us from throwing in a dicey JYD team....or having to figure out the fucking Moondogs.
LooseCannon
Golly. Now Rippa and I are going to make a side bet on who dies in the middle of this. How do we not have a wrestling dead pool in this forum?
CSC
I feel like an awful human being after Googling some of the teams where I wasn't sure who the dead one was and finding myself rooting for who it was going to be.
Ryan
Good lord that second post is just FULL of terrible news if you haven't been keeping track of people post 2004-ish. (V)!_!(V) R.I.P. Naniwa (V)!_!(V) That was an odd one. No one outside of his family knew about it for over 40 days due to something with religious beliefs and I believe he died of a heart attack out of nowhere. He was only 33. Yes, he was only 20 years old in all those MPro matches and debuted at 16.
Ace
BISON SMITH AND AKITOSHI SAITO FOR THE FUCKING WIN. Bison was always cool to me, so he's got my vote. And Saito friggin' killed Misawa.

DEAN
Yeah, I totally forgot Brad Armstrong died. I missed Lance Cade dying completely. And the annual question: There is a living Pitbull?
TimLivingston
I was reading the first rules and they went together to the point where I thought it said, "Wrestler can only be dead once." Which disqualifies Gordy, Von Erich, Warrior, etc.
Matt D
I feel like Chris Colt should somehow be in this. Ron Dupree and Bobby Jaggers (mayne) are dead too so it'd probably have to be Lanny Poffo or Moondog Moretti. Poor guy.
The Man Known as Dan
Kinda sad this didn't get a little more Indy with the Backseat Boys are something. Also, Benoit and Angle would be more fun then Benoit and Makenko IMO, but I'm worrying about shit nobody cares about. I will vote on the idea that Both members of the team have to be eliminated: advantage teams with immovable objects, but a lot of the other teams have some crafty guys. The Man Known as Dan
Also, for seeding: separate who finished 1st in each group, then line them up 1-6 based on who had the most votes. Then do the same for the guys who finished 2nd, and 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Then just build 1 vs. 32, 16 vs. 17, etc.
