Oooh and it's a perfectly reasonable 6 matches. Let's just go ahead plan for double that, because tonight we've got Dynamite! What happened last week? My wife ain't out shoppin' with the country club queens... She's workin' in the morning until she picks up the kids at three. Well, it seems Megan Bayne introduced herself to the women's champion and told her to Acknowledge Her, er, I mean Bow Down! The Men's champ however is now somehow involved with someone who MAY dethrone him! However, his match on Sunday is against Swerve Strickland, not Willow Nightingale. Oh well... This ain't Dallas and this ain't Dynasty... This is a real-life two job working family! And I ain't J.R., you ain't Sue Ellen... We're just a man and a woman holding things together! This week... WHO DOESN'T LOVE A TOURNAMENT??? WHY NOT TWO??? TBA vs. TBA is gonna rule! (There, now it's fixed.) Enjoy the week. 1

After that, Claudio Castagnoli vs. Cope and Jon Moxley/Marina Shafir vs. Swerve Strickland/Willow Nightingale. This will be Marina Shafir's first AEW match since joining the Death Riders.

I had assumed MJF would be in it too, but he's a big enough star I'd think he'd get to declare his inclusion in an interview segment rather than just be part of the infodump of the remaining participants. Most likely we'll get five midcarders (hopefully upper midcarders). And only two spots left on the women's side - do you suppose Mariah May gets one, or do we think they're giving her some time off so she can come back in a big way a little later? 1
SovietShooter Posted April 2 Posted April 2 I think one of the ladies spots will be a big return - been awhile since we've seen Shida, Riho, Anna Jay, Tay, or Ruby. Former winners Willow, Mariah, and the Good Doctor make sense here too. Any of those would take things up a level, I think Men's side is harder to figure, with so many open spots. Wouldn't be completely shocked to see Darby return here, if the plan truly is Darby vs Mox at All In. Kingston could be a surprise return too. I think Hobbs is probably a lock for the field. Jarrett and/or Dustin make sense here too. Fletcher? 1

Niners Fan in CT Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Some really dope character development between Swerve and Hangman. This is legit one of the best rivalries of the last 10 years. I felt the show flew by this week as well. It had a really nice pace to it. The Men's brackets seem a bit predictable but we'll see. The Women's brackets are loaded. That's going to be a hell of a tournament. 1

Swerve needs to learn how to throw a goddamn forearm but the opening tornado was alright, a little sloppy and they overdid the reaction to the DDT (I WANNA TALK TO SAMPSON~!) but it was fun and Willow wasn't afraid -- or worked through, should say -- going back of the head and neck first through a table. Good setup for the end of the night. Tazmaniac Jones was a gold mine tonight. "Peoria, Illinois has never experienced something like this", "French Tongue Jones", "Paul Turner's the referee, he's the guy in the ring. For those that don't know", "His brain just went on all those rotations". When he isn't giving really good and precise color commentary he is just the biggest fucking goof in the world. I bet Thanksgiving with him and Hook and the family is a blast. Meanwhile, Tony comes out huffing and puffing after the lip bite in the Penelope/Toni match like he was holding the mute button with one hand and doing something else with his other beneath the table. It's about as bad as Don's "size queen" line later on that has EVERYONE reaching for their mute button Anyway, good match! Penelope had a great heat segment and set up Toni just fine for Bayne. You can put Brody and Lance together again any time. Like Callis kept on about, it might just be two big slabs of meat banging against each other, but even so and even if Lance isn't the best seller, I will get behind it. I could do a 'best of ten' with these guys just doing escalating brutality. Old Edge/Claudio was pretty damn good. The lariat spot in the middle was neat and it felt like they were working outside of the box. In WWE this match would have been generic wallpaper but here they got to work a little different and do something interesting. Old Edge is crazy enough to spear somebody through the ropes on a random Dynamite match too which helps. The finish with the glass was cool but you can tell it was pretty... ummm... edgeless glass (HA!). Nice to wrap back around to the opening, and main event, feud. This was a neat Dynamite. The women's tag on Saturday will rule. I'm sure the tag match I didn't cover was just fine. And those poor jobbers... it wasn't quite a Road Warriors squash, but the choke slams couldn't have been fun. 1

Is it so hard to produce an actual hologram to print on the forehead or something, like my old Super Naturals action figures? Or just... I dunno... restructure it. The layout is plain to the point of shitty. 2 1
