Might just be me but John Silver running reminds me of Eddie Kingston running after CM Punk in AEW.

This made me LOL. More should have been done with the Dark Order since the late great Mr Brodie Lee passed away. John Silver should have been a AEW TNT Champion and John Silver/Alex Reynolds or Evil Uno/Stu Grayson the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

Hangman/Silver/Reynolds should've been the initial Trios champs over the Elite.

I should have mentioned that. Thank you for reminding me. Such missed opportunities.

I'm probably one of the higher people on Hangman around here, but two of AEW's biggest fails booking wise involve him.  Him losing to Punk and Him/Dark Order not winning the initial Trios titles.

Silver absolutely should've had a TNT title run at some point.  They definitely missed an opportunity because at one point, he was insanely over.

Agree on all counts.

Missed opportunities in AEW would make for an interesting discussion.

That really would.  I know it's been touched on but I wonder if it would be considered a missed opportunity not pulling the trigger on Swerve maybe 1-2 months earlier.  Definitely would be fun to see what people's opinions are on the subject.

Created an AEW: Missed Opportunities thread:

Thought it could do with its own topic as this will close and we can add to an open one when required. Thanks StuntmanCrowley and Joel Martin for the interest.

Kip Sabian really made Hangman look like a fool. It was hard to catch but they had two Spear spots planned. Sabian was supposed to hop on the apron during the second one but was way early and jumped up on the first one. Hangman was sent out because his spot timing was based on Sabian's run in. So that's why he laid on the ground like an idiot for 10 minutes lol.

I was wondering what the deal was there. After Hangman laid there forever, I was wondering if someone forgot they had an overrun and sent them out early. Luckily, they had 3 competent vets in there who adapted relatively well with Hangman staying out of sight, and Christian/Jay avoiding that side of the ring, but it definitely had some early 2000s SD-retape vibes.

I just liked that, in the same years as Yoshinari Ogawa finally retired, we got a rarely seen Ratboy vs Ratboy main event match.

I felt that was pure comedy and didn't do Hangman's character/gimmick any favors, especially with how serious he's been booked the past few months.

Well I thought Dynamite last night was all right. I thought they would have Moxley explain a little bit more than he did. I liked the danger aspect of the BCC just coming in and destroying everyone. But when they left later in the night, it did them no favors by having The Dark Order still standing and one of them being able to chase them in such a cartoonish fashion.

I did like the main event though. Jay White and Christian Cage have good chemistry and they had a good match together. I liked how Hangman came out and just laid there waiting and waiting. Maybe he was a little early or it was just to show how inept the referees are when they don't notice someone at ringside. Either way it keeps Page and White feuding which is what I want to see.

Meh, I like it when wrestlers goof around every now and then.

On par with those two, the Dark Order vs Elite 5-on-5 elimination match. Hangman just eating a pin from Kenny was soooooo anti-climatic. The crowd was primed and molten hot for Hanger to get the pin on Kenny, and he just took a pin and went away on paternity leave.

I still say what they should've done there was have Page kick out of the OWA, and Kenny have to hit it twice to put him down.  Page still could've got the time off, but then you have the story of Kenny being legit scared because he kicked out.

Having grown up where I did, I've seen both techniques.

I think my favorite was at the one dive where a buddy had a truck of guys pull up and talk tough but he was 6'5" and easily a solid 350 so you had two guys get brave and get thrown back into the truck bed and then it peeled out of the parking lot.

I'll watch Dynamite tomorrow, but regarding PAC, with the way he's built, he looks kind of silly in street clothes so I can see why he just stays in his gear.

Recorded the Modern Family after Dynamite and got to see the end of White-Cage. 10 minutes overrun, does that happen often cuz if so I’ll just start recording the Modern Family too every week. The Match I thought was really good and really fun. I’m kinda torn on the finish on one hand you have Jay White who just got a big win at the PPV and he can’t seem to keep the streak up with another win but at the same time the loss did come due to interference from the man who White beat at the PPV. The Jay White-Hangman Page feud is still going.

people watch Modern Family??

Shelton/Lio was awesome. Perfect debut showcase for Shelton.  Thought Aminata/Mercedes was pretty good.

Main event ruled. The interference mistiming was unfortunate but I loved Hangman laying on the floor to hide in the same way that Christian did when he interfered in Hangman's match with Jay White months back.

Enjoyed the serious sides of Dark Order, Top Flight, Private Party, etc. and the Anna Jay/Mariah May setup.

I liked tons of stuff getting announced to look forward to for Rampage, Collision, Battle of the Belts, and even 2 weeks from now for Fright Night Dynamite. Since Abadon is going after Athena for the ROH title, I don't expect them on that night, but I hope we get something on the level of Abadon/Britt Halloween Deathmatch.

I completely forgot about this one, good memory.  Absolutely agree as well.

I fucking HATED how that match was booked. The entrances were incredible. Probably the best they've ever done. But it really felt like that match was booked specifically to remind the television audience that the Elite were miles ahead of the Dark Order. There's a formula for these;

The faces get a flash pin early. Reynolds pins Anderson in less than a minute. Elite has a heat segment on Grayson. Several near falls. Gallows tags in. Grayson gets the hot tag to Silver. Silver cleans house. Gallows laughs in his face. Silver does something visually awesome like airplane-spinning Gallows. Gallows tags out to a Jackson. Silver tags out to Uno. The Bucks cheat their balls off to eliminate Uno.

I liked the part where Grayson and Gallows get counted out. I'd keep that. Now it's 3 on 3. You have a long Elite heat segment on Hangman, near falls, Elite talking shit, all that. Then a similar finishing stretch, but with Cutler on the outside spraying Reynolds in the face with the spray thing so Omega can eliminate him and Silver getting way more offense, buying Hangman time to recover on the apron. I'd have the Elite go for a 3-man BTE Trigger on Silver, but Silver moves. The Elite hit each other and Silver gets a flash roll-up elimination on one of the Jacksons. Omega levels Silver with a V-Trigger and pins him. Page powers through and eliminates the other Jackson, but Omega is too much. I liked the idea someone else had where Page kicked out of the first OWA. Do that. Omega hits another one and pins Hanger.  Then the Dark Order aren't out there looking like complete schmucks, and Page isn't looking like a schmuck for picking the Dark Order to team with. Maybe I obsess too much. That's entirely possible. It's funny; you can tell how my life is going by how much I bitch about wrestling. Everything else is going pretty good atm, so I'm forced to dwell on how the Bucks and Omega couldn't be bothered to sell at all for the Dark Order guys in that match. It's also why I'm a bit shocked that the Elite backed down from Mox's guys. Anyway, yeah, that 5-5 match bugged me.
