FEBRUARY 2024 Wrestling Talk

Recommended Posts

Terry Funk was old for so long that now when I see any footage of him talking when he's younger it's really strange. Like, it sounds like The Funker, but he doesn't look like The Funker to me, lol.

Imagine if he had stayed retired and not yet 40 years old.

*shudders*

Not a world I'd want to live in.

In Demolition Man, if the Denis Leary character had been played by Terry Funk, that would have been a significant upgrade.

Not to belabor the point but to hopefully end with some positivity, I thought of a match that to me worked to AEW's booking strengths and that's Cassidy/Moxley from All Out 2023. As I said at the time, not a big fan of either guy but the investment in OC's reign with lingering injuries wearing him down and Mox's blood drinking character combined to make a great match. This made for some of Tony's most successful long-term booking along with the Page and Omega story

On the flip side, we can fantasy book Terry into movies from 1984 onward.

Terry Funk in Unforgiven. Terry Funk in Con Air. Etc etc

The movie Tombstone would have been even more awesome than it already is…

Who would Terry have played?

The long lost cousin Jimmy Jack Earp.

One of Curly Bill’s posse, mean mugging, spitting tobacco. I’m sure he’d call Doc a sick jackass. I don’t know if the audience could handle a flaming branding iron at the film’s climax, though.

Terry Funk in Heathers would have been weird

Got a good laugh watching an episode of the Urban Wrestling Alliance tonight. Jorge Estrada is coming out and the ring announcer/dj makes sure to point out how tiny his trunks are. I'd forgotten how dreadful that show was.
