Casey Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I have an extremely limited PSVR2 library right now, but so far just Horizon: Call of the Mountain made the entire purchase last year worth it for me. But I’m a huge Horizon fan, so results may vary. But I’ve also got stuff like Beat Saber (ofc) and Hubris, and they’re pretty great too. Is the catalog of games anywhere near other headsets? No. But it’s still worth it, IMO. Especially if you’re Iike me and it’s your only way to play, unless you buy the Meta or whatever where you don’t need a good computer to run it. I’ve got a few games on my wishlist that I wanna get for it, like both Red Matter games, the Walking Dead stuff, etc. But, really, Call of the Mountain is a great expansion of the world and lore, and I was grinning like an idiot when you meet Aloy. It’s also, like, ten times better than the first headset. I enjoyed my time with it, but that thing had really bad “screen door effect” - for me, anyway. I don’t know if it’s my shitty eyes or what, but it was just bad on some games. 1
Kevin Wilson Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 I had let my PS Plus subscription expire last year as I was mostly using PS5 for AAA games and GamePass for everything else, but I saw that right now Sony is running a deal where the annual plan of PS Plus Premium is only $112 (Extra is on sale for $101, Essential for $64). Sony finally will add a handful of PSVR2 games to Premium on June 6th (including a couple I was just about to buy in Synth Riders and Walkabout Mini Golf) so I think I am going to dive back into it with the 30% off sale, seems like a good deal.
kenyabaxterZXW Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Marvel's Midnight Suns is free until 6/13/2024 from Epic Games Store.
Casey Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 yoooooo, no one told me Heavenly Sword was on the PS Plus Premium tier. That’s dope as fuck. I upgraded for the rest of the month for like $1 for the VR games coming today, but now I’m sucked into this game. Always wanted to try it out. Sucks it’s streaming only, though.

Zimbra Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 This is the first time I've caught CK3 for $20 so I'll probably grab that and (knowing me) some kind of settlement builder game that will never leave early access.
tbarrie Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I enjoyed Crusader Kings III, but for what it's worth I prefer Old World. (Which isn't as deeply discounted; it's currently 30% off.) OW's personality and event system isn't as ambitious or fully implemented as CK3's, but IMO the combination of such a system with a Civ-like game works really well. You can turn off personalities and random events entirely in OW, and while I haven't tried it, I'm sure it would still be a satisfactory game. With CK3, as I recall there wasn't whole lot of game to it beyond managing people and events. Of course, Old World isn't for everybody. It's by the lead designer of Civ IV, and Civ IV is in some fans' opinion the best of the Civ series - but it's almost certainly the apex of the series for complexity. And Old World is indeed quite complex, with a lot of things to keep track of. I love it, but many people wouldn't.
StevieNippz Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I played CK 3 for a few hours and enjoyed it but it didn't click for me. I've been trying to fill my Civilization void with that, Tropico 6 and Stellaris but they're not scratching that same itch. Luckily I got them all cheap so I'm sure I'll revisit them sometime next time I have a back injury and have nothing but time to kill.

I really don't know how to explain how well Civilization games fit into their space in my gaming world. I don't think Civilization is even close to what I want it to be, but it's so much closer than any of its competitors that none of them can really take is place. It's like that one friend you're always arguing with, but you don't want them to go away.

Kevin Wilson Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Nintendo dropped seven games onto their online service, all for the NES. I'm a bit of a gaming nerd in some aspects but I've only heard of a few of these games. Still, adding some games is better than adding none games. Urban Champion Donkey Kong Jr. Math Solar Jetman Mach Rider Cobra Triangle The Mystery of Atlantis Golf
odessasteps Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 (edited) I watched some stream them today. That solar jetman game looked cool. I think I had golf for my nes in the day. DK Math also looked fun. Edited July 5, 2024 by odessasteps
Chaos Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Wasn't Golf found in the Switch OS early into the console's lifecycle when people were trying to jailbreak it?

I don't like it but I'm not terribly surprised. COD is coming soon, and unfortunately almost all the streaming services are bumping up their prices. Another $3 a month won't make me cancel but there is always a line, I'm not sure for me personally what that line is yet. I got rid of Netflix their last price increase so there definitely is one, everyone has their limits. Edit to add: if anyone is the Cdkeys type and has Ultimate, I'd recommend stacking now while you can. Just purchased two three-month codes for $27.89 each, wouldn't be surprised now that this has been announced if they sell out at that price/it gets raised soon.
Raziel Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 I'm at Ultimate, but that's because I use the Cloud stuff for console and the PC for my PC. If they take cloud away from Ultimate, then I'll drop back to PC (unless they stop with PC Day 1's, then I'm probably out)
odessasteps Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 $20 a month is still a good deal if you aren’t now buying $70 hew releases. 1
Tabe Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 Humble Bundle has a Capcom bundle going. 30 bucks gets you their fighting collection, their beat em up collection, the SF collection, SF5 and more. Seems like a tremendous value.

tbarrie Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Got an e-mail today telling me my GamePass subscription was going up a few dollars a month. Seemed as good a time as any to cancel it. 1
