Seemed as good a time as any to cancel it. I have mine stacked up through June, which admittedly is far away but once I get there I'm going to re-assess myself. Everyone has the point of no return.
odessasteps Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 I figure it’s still cheaper than actually buying games. Right now, I’m only playing Starfield, NMS and MLB. All of those are on game pass, even though I did buy Starfield and bought NMS like 6 years ago. Well, I did buy Balatro for like $10 to play on my switch at work.
Death From Above Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 The whole Yakuza series is discounted pretty nicely on Steam right now. I bought 0 which I've already started (it rules), and Like A Dragon.

Casey Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 It’s kind of weird that 0 and the two Kiwami games aren’t at their normal 70% discount but all of the others are.

AxB Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 When AEW Fight Forever was free on PSPlus a few months ago, there was discourse that this was proof that the game had failed to sell enough copies, and was therefore a huge financial flop. Perhaps that same discourse will now resume, suggesting that WWE 2K24 is also a failure. But, like, probably not, yeah? 2
odessasteps Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 It prob depends on when in a games life cycle it becomes free. Is six months or so a good time? Of course, you also have Nintendo still charging full prices for games that launched the Switch seven years ago.

username Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 WWE is also a yearly release while AEW is... probably not. The WWE addition seems to be timed with roughly the last bit of DLC dropping so I assume it is as much a strategic timing as anything else.

They're not equivalent. 2K does this with all it's sports and sports adjacent IP. NBA 2K is put on these services and marked down to five dollars on Switch, and it is a massive seller. That's because they try to get as many players to pick up the game at the end of it's life cycle to purchase card packs, etc. No need to fall into typical wrestling war rhetoric to explain this one. 1
Raziel Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 So, anyone else having an issue with Game Pass not wanting to DL *anything*? What I have is running, but it keeps erroring on a Download of literally anything in the store and I'm wondering if it's just me.

I did the pre-install deal for Indiana Jones on PC Game Pass and it errored out at 99% when trying the install. Kept trying many times with the same result before I just gave up and uninstalled. It worked just fine however on Series X and I was able to install another game tonight so hopefully it resolves itself. Edited December 16, 2024 by NikoBaltimore

Yeah as odessasteps mentioned, its been timed to go with Wrestlemaia after they took a year off since Yukes didn't want to work on the games anymore. It was timed in the fall previously which probably helped with the 4Q numbers. There really isn't a "start" to a wrestling season so timing it around Mania makes sense since you have a shot at pulling in more fans since more eyes are on the shows. The DLC was spaced out a ton this year and folks online assumed it was due to players dropping off a lot once the last DLC was released in prior years and they wanted to keep users playing, with MyFaction being the main goal.

Apon further investigation (mostly because I couldn't download ANYTHING not attached to Steam without triggering Virus warnings), it appears that just using the Windows uninstaller to get the McAfee bloatware out of my new PC wasn't fully effective, and I needed a specific McAfee tool they supply to get their bloatware out of your system. Everything works great now. 2

I was saying that WWE 2k was added to playstation plus near when the last bit of DLC came available, so that was likely strategically done to get as many people playing right when there was the most recent extra stuff for them to buy for it. That's a different discussion than when they decide to release a new entry, which yeah does seem to be increasingly Mania adjacent. 1
