The ROH Thread

Recommended Posts

I'll spoiler this, since it's part of the Supercard results, but:

Now that Jay Lethal's a heel, he should start doing the Macho Man stuff again and call every single babyface "Hogan" and claim they're trying to take Miss Elizabeth away from him. "Miss Elizabeth" could be his pet name for his title.

On the ROH tv show aired here Jay Lethal is doing some commercials for one of those payday loan places.  I don't know why (maybe it's the way Lethal always strikes me as incredibly corny in his promos) but it strikes me as funny for some reason.  Perhaps it's something to do with hierarchy of advertisement spots from promotion to promotion.  WWE has guys shilling national corporations, I remember TNA had someone doing ads for some insurance company, and ROH guys are doing check payday loan ads.

PPV.  Isn't that a dead technology now?  Especially charging $25 a pop?

My first thought as pretty much the same. In a day and age where the Network exists going back to PPV is archaic. I know RoH won't get any of my money by doing this. Maybe it makes short term business sense, I don't know, but long term it seems like a step backwards instead of a step forward.

Mania doing 400,000 buys on traditional ppv means it might not be totally dead. Of course, hard to tell what % of tjat numbers was people with the network who wanted to be safe

Also, possibly with no wwe ppvs, the cable/dish companies mau have given ROH a good deal to fill the hole in their peogramming.

$25 for a PPV isn't going to be what keeps ROH from getting my money,

ROH being a poor imitation of what it was less than a decade ago is going to be what keeps them from getting my money.  I'd happily pay $25 if Punk and the Embassy were on the card.  RD Evans and Jay Lethal are a lot tougher sell.

Correct me if I am wrong but this is a company that can't figure out how to do a live IPPV not they are going to try a live TV PPV with a time limit to get things done.  I hope that the technology to do a PPV on TV is a lot easier than on the net.

Yeah $25 is just stupid.    I assume it is $25 for all versions and not $35 for an HD version

Ignoring the feasibility aspect for a second - wouldn't you think on your first PPV poster for the masses, you would put everyone's name on the poster just to help educate curious new folks (especially ones who don't currently get ROH TV)?

And don't you think you would have found a more flattering photo of Matt Hardy?
