Mistah Na1m4rk Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I love this show, I think the writing is great and the cast of characters really offers a plethora of possibilities. I think the only thing I find consistently annoying is anything with Sam's unrequited love for Janice, too cringe-y for my tastes, but that's just me. 2
BrianS81177 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I like the show mostly but that Pizza dude is fucking unbearable.
Jingus Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Well, that's kind of the point. The dude is obviously based on real-life marketers and other interferers from the studio. But it is sometimes possible to make a heel too despicable to the point where they become unwatchable.
BrianS81177 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I've got no problem with them having a meddling executive character, but he's just the drizzling shits.
TheVileOne Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Unsurprisingly show was officially cancelled. So my prediction of the show lasting about six episodes was only off by about 10 episodes. Sometimes I think people like the idea of the Muppets and Muppets nostalgia more than they are actually fans of the Muppets and actually want to watch a show about them. 1
jstout Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 They were itching for a reason to dislike it because it wasn't The Muppet Show, even though ABC tried a re-do of The Muppet Show earlier and it flopped. I still don't get all this "cynical, mean Kermit" stuff - he was a showrunner, and he had to occasionally manipulate his diva star to get things going. It was his job. I dunno why people couldn't handle Kermit as Liz Lemon in a Muppet 30 Rock. I adored this show and am horribly sad to see it go and hope it doesn't scuttle the occasional Muppet movie. 4
Matt D Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I wanted something I could watch with my kids like the Muppet Show or movies, which worked on multiple levels. This didn't. it also started out rough and got better which is enough to doom something in today's environment. I also strongly dislike 30 Rock so I'm consistent at least.

I maintain it was just millennial blogger bullshit. Kermit was never cynical. 1
WholeFnMachine Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 This is such shitty news, I really enjoyed the show, sure there were rough spots & some episodes were better than others, but I thought it was a lot of fun. Mourning the Kerm. 1
Mistah Na1m4rk Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I really enjoyed the show and will miss it. It was the best Muppet-related property since, geez I dunno, Muppet Christmas Carol? 1
jstout Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 I loved both the new movies, but they probably got a lot of nostalgia slack from me. I thought the second one was really good in comparison to the bad reviews. It's mindless fun. People expect too much out of their TV and movies sometimes.
Dolfan in NYC Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 So apparently Fozzie hadn't been told about the show's cancellation: http://www.vulture.com/2016/05/fozzie-learns-about-the-muppets-cancellation.html#
TheVileOne Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I think this is just sort of the way of things for the Muppets. They aren't meant to be wildly successful or have a hit long-running series

And he seems to be able to control the weather, of course. Dude's pretty powerful. But are we sure this was his first appearance? Is Muppet History any sort of official account? It just seems odd that they'd have Bert familiar with the character were it his debut.
odessasteps Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 In terms of nerd culture, I’d almost bet on the obsessive fan sure being more historically accurate than an official one. 1

JonnyLaw Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 In this instance, the obsessive fan and the official account are on the same page, as the Sesame Street YouTube channel has the same clip listed as his first appearance. 1

I feel like you could take this clip and give it a clickbaity "Sesame Street hidden Satanic message" title because he counts to six three times and get an interesting discourse whipped up. 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Nope. I ain't watching that Garfield clip. That's bait.
