glfpunk Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I saw that the other day. Moto X is a really underrated phone. Specs don't really matter with it, they really optimized it well. The only reason I got rid of mine was I'm not a fan of AMOLED display but it was a sweet phone. This new one deserves a look for sure.
Zimbra Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 The new Moto X looks great, but I have some concerns about them upping the screen size and resolution so much while keeping essentially the same sized battery.
Cliff Hanger Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Yeah, my plan was to get a Gal Note 3 or an iPhone Impractically Huge in December. (My LG Intuition is well past its sell-by date, and even a factory reset has not improved its performance.) That wacky secondary touch screen is making me lean toward the iPhone Impractically Huge.
odessasteps Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Since i got my galaxy 5 last week, i dont need to see pretty new phones for 18 months or so.
blitzkrieg Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 So bigger phones, NFC payments/card wallet, and wearable tech have me thinking that it's safe to say that Apple's days as a tech world disrupter are over. Like it's awesome for people with iPhones or wanting iPhones but it's not really anything groundbreaking anymore. 2
Dolfan in NYC Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 My ex is an Apple fanboy, to an insanely annoying degree. After the last 10 Apple press conferences I would always get a phone call within seconds of the announcements about how awesome the new iProduct was, and how Apple was so much better than every Android phone... Oh and that things like the Samsung Note was ridiculously big and no one would want a phone that big. Haven't heard a peep from him yet.

Like it's awesome for people with iPhones or wanting iPhones but it's not really anything groundbreaking anymore. I went to iPhone for a while when the 4s came out. I enjoyed it but knew I didn't want that type of experience. One where you're locked in to what they are and no customization or freedom. But at the time android was still a bit buggy and I really liked the fact that apple made such good hardware and that the hardware and software were made for each other. I upgraded to the 5 also but made the permanent switch away from apple when the nexus 4 came out. I'm kind of a nut with phones and have tried them all including windows phones. If you are not in a contract and are looking for a new phone it's my opinion that there is no reason to consider iPhone. For Christ's sake your nude selfies aren't even safe.
Cliff Hanger Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 For me, a lot of it is inertia because I owned a tablet nearly 3 years before I owned a smartphone. I am tired of having an Android phone and an apple tablet that don't play together, and I have a LOT more iOS purchases I would lose by buying an Asus or whatever tab than vice versa. Still, got nearly 4 months to think about it so we shall see how the next GalNote shakes out (I am really not prepared to consider a phone without a screen in the 5" range due to my visual impairment)
piranesi Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 The whole fucking reason I went iPhone is because I don't want to carry around a goddamn etch-a-sketch sized thing in my...well hand I guess since it sure s fuck won't fit in my pocket. Size was literally the deciding factor for not going Samsung or HTC or whatever was hot last year. Fucking fuck. My Macbook air is the most perfect computer I've ever used, so I'd rather just stay all Apple....but FUCKING FUCK! THE ONE FUCKING THING!!!!!
Bustronaut Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 You can still get a smaller Iphone 6, with a "normal" screen?
piranesi Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Really? I think the smaller one is still almost as big as a Samsung Galaxy now.
piranesi Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 RIP: My beautiful, holdable, hard-to-drop friend. Just a sqeeze-worth...just enough.
Petey Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Do hand workouts Get bigger hands ??? Profit
Travis Sheldon Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Picked up a LG Optimus F3 to replace a phone I bricked that belonged to my wife. It's not a step up from her last phone screen size, only 4 inches, but the processor is a step up. Lots of comments online talking about space issues because of limited internal memory, but after I got it rooted and Link2SD set up, she has more than enough space. It's not the latest greatest thing out there, but for a late adopter like me it was a steal for $40 at Best Buy.
Cliff Hanger Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Feel dumb for not realizing previously that the Note Edge is not the only incarnation of the Note 4. So the a note is still in play for my next comically large smartphone along with the iPhone. I hear people say nice things about the G3, but over the last 8 months I have gone from satisfied with the intuition to lukewarm to hating all it's dumb little quirks and shit, so I am gunshy about getting a new one from them.
Brian Fowler Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 So, got the G3 today. God it's pretty. 1
Tabe Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I have the G2 and love it. I expect the G4 to be my next phone. I just wish the speakers were louder.
Brian Fowler Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 If they would rip off HTC with the little mini boom box set-up, I think it would be a perfect phone.
Brian Fowler Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 The whole fucking reason I went iPhone is because I don't want to carry around a goddamn etch-a-sketch sized thing in my...well hand I guess since it sure s fuck won't fit in my pocket. My Macbook air is the most perfect computer I've ever used, so I'd rather just stay all Apple....but FUCKING FUCK! THE ONE FUCKING THING!!!!! It's funny. The main reason I didn't consider an IPhone is how small they were. Now I feel fairly comfortable with Android/am somewhat locked into their ecosystem, so even though now there are Iphones that aren't comically tiny, it's too late.
blitzkrieg Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Ugh. All the people on Twitter talking about what the best keyboard is for the iPhone. Maybe the next iPhone can have a radio tuner in it.
Cliff Hanger Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Are they necessarily talking about external keyboards, or the new ability to replace your on screen kb with something customized like you can in Android?
Zimbra Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 The latter. SwiftKey, Swype, et al are available on iOS for the first time.
Brian Fowler Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Hence one of the many reasons why "2012" jokes are running wild, brother.
