Niners Fan in CT Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Yeah, there's no excuse here. The phone should be a tiny bit more durable for the price.. jeez.
evilwaldo Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I just find it silly. Apple haters nitpick everything and spend inordinate amounts of time whining and complaining on the Internet. For the record, I don't own a smartphone. I may be the last person on earth using a Nokia 5130. No contract, pay per use, and spend $25 per quarter. I don't see the need to spend $80 a month on a phone when I get very few calls.
Craig H Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 No one is talking about Apple haters. I own an iPhone 5. We're talking about the shit construction of a phone that apparently can't withstand the rigors of something basic, like residing inside someone's pocket.

You sound like an Apple hater just from the tone of your posts.
Vincey Greene Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 It's not an actual problem, you guys. You apply pressure on that axis, the phone will either bend or break. Simple. Better to bend than break. I had my beloved Moto X in my back pocket at my previous job and I accidentally sat on it and it destroyed the LCD. That's far worse than bending. I can't stand iOS but this is not a reason to hate on iPhones.
Craig H Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I'm still mystified at how anyone is hating on the iPhone. If anything, we're hating on their spotty QA process. The phones are gorgeous and iOS 8 made my sluggish iPad 3rd generation run like it was on iOS 6 again.
Vincey Greene Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 My point is that it's not shoddy QA, it's silly expectations. Of course a wafer thin piece of aluminum and glass is flexible!
Niners Fan in CT Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 There are phones that are just as slim or damn near close and do not bend. I'm sure someone has said that already but I'm too blown away by what I'm witnessing in this thread to check. Also, I've owned many ipods, own the current ipod touch and have had an iphone as well. No "hating" over here.
Brian Fowler Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 HTC seems to have no problem with a glass and aluminum phone that doesn't bend and warp...
Raziel Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Goddamn there are some people failing reading comprehension in here. 1
Craig H Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 No bro, just iPhone hating. Fuck. This all gave me a migraine. Did I type my shit out in Katakana or Kanji?
Brian Fowler Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 It'd be best if you typed it on your iPhone
Niners Fan in CT Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 It'd be best if you typed it on your iPhone He can only type on flat surfaces. 2
Tabe Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 No bro, just iPhone hating. Fuck. This all gave me a migraine. Did I type my shit out in Katakana or Kanji? You're speaking in Cubs-speak so it all comes out as marble-mouthed gibberish. 1
Vincey Greene Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 HTC seems to have no problem with a glass and aluminum phone that doesn't bend and warp... I dunno about the m8 but I've seen the previous One bent so bad the glass is peeling out of the aluminum frame. So, yeah.
glfpunk Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Man, all these girls I work with keep their phones in their back pockets or their bra and I've never seen a bent phone.
Craig H Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 And again, if the phone is bending, what does that say about the phones internals. What is the impact to the phones camera? Stuff like that I wonder about. I was set to get a 6+ this week, but now I'll wait and see. Worse comes to worse, I wait until next year for the 6+s. And the new Note looks awesome as well, but I'm so embedded in that iOS environment with apps and such that it would be a pain to switch. Plus, I just want my phone to work without having to always fuck around with customization options.

Craig H Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 The fucking state of this stupidity. No one is whining. Your reading comprehension skills, as stated earlier by someone else, leave a lot to be desired.
glfpunk Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I'm laughing which I believe might be the opposite of whining

evilwaldo Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 No, I know what it means. If you read his posts from yesterday to today he goes from whining about a bendable phone that he does not own to complaining about being locked into the app ecosystem as if that is a reason for not being able to change phones. Last I checked almost every app has a version for both Android and iOS.
Raziel Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 No, he didn't Really. You fail hard at reading comprehension. Reread *everything*, without being amped to jump on someone for not speaking of iPhones as if they're made by Unicorns and powered by rainbows. He's mentioning a design flaw, saying, rightfully, that it'll prevent him from buying this model, and he doesn't want to change ecosystems. Understandbile. While there are both versions, Androids to require a bit more setup to get it how you want it, especially if you're used to iPhones. Phones bending is a design flaw that's horrible. There are thinner phones that don't do that. I have one.
Craig H Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Not to mention that you have to re-buy all of those apps for an Android phone. I'm looking at 3 or 4 years of apps I would need to re-buy. And at least with the antenna/grip of death issue, putting a protective band around the edge of the phone seemed to help. That was another design flaw that should have been caught during testing, but wasn't, and the it didn't get fixed until the next iterative release.
