RIPPA Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 POLL RUNS UNTIL SOMETIME ON MONDAY RYBACK vs. Cesaro vs.Luke Harper Rybaxel vs. Usos - Tag Titles FINN BALOR vs. Dunkan Disorderly - Extreme Rules vs. Adrian Neville http://youtu.be/ezzckIi8Jf8
NikoBaltimore Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Of the four matches this is the easiest for me. Nothing against Ryback as he seems like a decent guy (especially after the Jericho podcast) But Finn Balor all the way.
Cristobal Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Ryback continues to improve. In a few years, he might be almost as good as Devitt is.
Exposer Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Prince Devitt sucked in New Japan. He's better in WWE, but Ryback working C-show tags and as a great hot tag in recent 6-mans blows out a guy who has a shitty entrance and middling level ring work.
Craig H Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I like Ryback, but he didn't have the resume that the Devitt had this year and he was out for a substantial amount of time. I think he'll fare better next year, but it's just not his year. Even if he made it past this round, he would lose in the next, whereas Balor has a better shot of moving on.
RIPPA Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 There is only one person in this thread making sense and that person has less than 100 posts 1
Greggulator Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 My two least favorite guys in the WWE battle it out!I have no thoughts beyond this.
SirSmUgly Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Bálor is the most charismatic guy that I think will be a star that I can't actually stand. Stupid entrance, especially all painted up, that makes me really hate him; video game offense that doesn't seem to have any actual thought of making things look like a fight behind it; whatever on selling or wrestling from underneath. Man, fuck this guy. Never really liked him as Devitt, not a fan of him now. Ryback is oversold on this board generally, but at least he can cut a good meathead promo and look like an actual pro wrestler in the ring.
JRGoldman Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I really hate Bullet Club. I hated all the matches with a million run ins. I hate how half my twitter feed is neckbeards saying shit like "#toosweetme". It's the worst. It's like the nWo for Bronies. All that being said, Balor has been great thus far in NXT. I think he really comes across as a star more than basically anyone else there. He has shined brighter than Itami and Neville who he seemed to pair off with early in the run. I think his matches during this period from NXT are better than anything Ryback did. I think Ryback has come a long way, and had that really awesome promo talking about The Secret and all that. I am tempted to throw him a vote because I think he was unfairly thrown under the bus by CM Punk, but if I just look at out put, Balor has been a guy that has been a bright spot in his matches, while Ryback has been a solid complimentary piece in his.
Brysynner Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I love Ryback, he's my favorite in WWE right now....however watching Finn Balor is an experience. Like I will just sit and stare at the TV and get drawn into his every match. Finn Balor is arguably the best NXT talent in this tourny so I gotta vote for him here. 1
Greggulator Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I'm voting for Ryback. The dude's not my cup of tea. He's a meathead who has a few dumb catchphrases. He's had a few pretty funny moments, though, and that goes a long way with me. He was also in the great Survivor Series match and I kinda dug the WILL HE/WON'T HE thing they gave him. I get why people like him. I just don't.I warmed up to Finn a bit after the Neville match. But aside from that, he's just so lame. I described him earlier (with assistance from someone else) as COLDPLAY: THE WRESTLER. His entrance without the face paint is so dumb. Like, why are you crawling around on the dirty floor like that, dude? And why are you taking 15 minutes to get into the ring with your lame John Tesh DRAMA~! music? It works a bit better when he has on his face paint, since it's so over the top. But then that begs the question: Why is this dude dressed like this, beyond it being a live show? Is it harder to put on the paint when you tape episodes or whatever? There's no difference between Finn and Demon Finn. Say what you want about Cody/Stardust, but the dude changed up his game when he transitioned to the role. Finn doesn't do that. The only match of his I really liked was the one against Neville. I pretty much like everything Neville does, though. The only spot of Finn's I like is that corner dropkick thing he does. Other than that, he's a total snooze.
mattdangerously Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Had to vote for Ryback because that hospital bed promo is legitimitely one of my favorite wrestling-related moments from the past year. 2
GOTNW Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I like Ryback and always have. Devitt has never done much for me, whether as bland junior face, Bullet Club leader or during his stint in NXT. But in terms of actual wrestling capability.........come on now. Balor in a walk.
Ultimo Necro Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I love the big guy, but let's not pretend he was having uninspiring matches with Axelmania in the tag division for most of the year. Debit is great in ring, even if his Cosplay paint fetish drives me nuts.

Cristobal Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Yeah. It could easily come off as plastic, but he charges ahead and it pays off. 4
NintendoLogic Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I'm inclined to vote against Balor solely based on this email to Scott Keith: Hey Scott,I've been watching NXT and I would like to say that Finn Balor is an amazing talent and a guy that exudes star power. This make me happy, as it sounds like they want to call him up and I'd love for Raw to have some cool wrestlers on it. But I also got to thinking about other can't miss prospects, specifically Cesaro. Cesaro certainly isn't dead and buried, but he's had a couple pretty crappy years now and I think I know why. Cesaro and Balor are badasses, they're clearly super talented at wrestling and look like they should be building pyramids out of the skulls of their enemies. They're almost too cool, and that makes it really strange when they're forced to interact with losers like Miz or Ziggler or Ambrose. And it's not like this is a plight of talented wrestlers losing to not-so-talented wrestlers. Sami Zayn is great at looking good in defeat because he's the "normal dude" with tons of heart he can be beaten, But Cesaro is a superman, Balor is the DEMON KING. The way they wrestle and they way they hold themselves means they can't, as Jim Cornette said about Batista, be throwing armdrags in the second match. How is a guy as obviously physically powerful as Cesaro not in the main-event? Like where with total goons (i.e. Fandango) you ask yourself "Can I imagine him wrestling Lesnar at Mania without laughing my ass off" with Cesaro and Balor I ask myself "Can I imagine them trading wins with Titus O'Neil without letting out a long, sad, sigh"?TL:DR version? Cesaro and Balor are almost setting themselves up for failure because they aren't characters I can see at every level of the card. They're too badass for WWE. I am legit gobsmacked that anyone would view Balor as a badass. Other than the top rope stomp, nothing he does looks like it would crack an eggshell. And the only difference between his entrance and the Boogeyman's is that you were supposed to laugh at the Boogeyman.
Cristobal Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I can't believe he would email "AccessDeniedAccessDenied5CAE5E8FE5DE3B75t093LBbseqafGCK11wdXgMcfe+ECIV" to Scott Keith. Break out the pitchforks and torches! Edit since you fixed it: Meh, if I'm gonna do something cuz of something one of Scott Keith's fans says, it'd probably be to stop watching wrestling.
NikoBaltimore Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I expected Ryback to get blown of out this in the early stages. In the NXT thread there are definitely those that didn't care for Finn, but it wasn't a full-on backlash. That said, there seems to be plenty of Balor hate here. I saw very little of him in NJPW, but liked what I saw. Do I like the paint and entrance? Absolutely. But he does need to better separate regular Finn from Demon Finn. In Demon form he should hitting lots of hurty moves or something. At this point it's easy for me to overlook, because it's not fully figured out yet. They're still making changes to him, and I get the sense there's going to be a better output from him due to that. It's not going to happen in this voting period, if one's mind is made up it's made up. Shit, I'm not sure if he's going to get past the next round as is. But next year will be better for Finn, if he loses I'm sure come next year he'll do a lot better. With Ryback, what you see is what you get. Muscled-up meathead who read The Secret is entertaining and all, but he's pretty much been figured out. He had a chance to be a main eventer, but got screwed over in that initial face run. Now it's hard to imagine him being built up to that level again. He was fine in Rybaxel though. Maybe he'd fare better teaming up with a face and go for the tag belts. As a singles guy he's just not working for me.
Cristobal Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 The thing about Ryback is, he's been wrestling since 2004. He's not some green kid still figuring stuff out. He's pretty much as good as he's going to get. It's a good thing he's not a main eventer, because he's never going to be a good enough wrestler or a good enough promo to be at that level.
JCM Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Ryback has been pretty awesome lately with matches against Harper and Rusev. Balor's match with Owens could put him over the top if it aired in the voting period, but I gotta go with The Big Guy.
Lamp, broken circa 1988 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I voted for Balor, because as much as I HATED the Real Rock n Rolla shit, he still has more good matches I can remember easily than Ryback does.
