The show started with a really nice video package setting up tonight's big blood feud matches. I liked EY-Roode, but it felt a lot like a video game match with tons of chops and punches, some moves, and then big spots thrown in without much of a story. The use of the chair fit the story they told last week though, with EY costing Roode the title shot with one.

Drew and MVP said words. I like MVP referencing he and Drew apparently being friends and drinking buddies - adds a sense of reality to things. They had a nothing match and Taz sounded so odd here. It was like they were just randomly inserting Taz sayings into the other 99% of the show where Josh was just talking endlessly. Post-match beating was just awful thanks to the pipe shot. MVP has V. Porter on the back of his gear despite WWE owning the actual Montel Vontavious Porter name.

Good Bram-Magnus hype vid. THIS IS GONNA BE A FIGHT, NOT A MATCH...so like the opener then. Meh. This also had a chairshot to the gut and back, but AFTER A DQ. Why this blood feud match had DQs, I had no idea. Then we got some weird stuff with Bram threatening to seemingly kill Mickie, but then allowing her to go when Magnus kissed his boot. Just eyerolls all around on this one.

Brooke-Robbie was a fine mix of comedy and fanservice. Spud vs. EC3 was amazing. I didn't have really high expectations for this, but each guy brought their A game. Spud has far better strikes than EC3, but man is he just the perfect dickhead of a heel. They got Spud over as a big face, who fought hard and was put over big by EC3 in ways that are all legit - but he didn't let him have that and still beat him up and shaved his head. THIS RULED and was one of the best matches of the year. It also finally saw TNA use blood right as it added a ton to the match.

Opener was good.  Not great, but good.  I would have been happy with that.  Then ECIII v. Spud decided to have a legit great match.  Spud is awesome.  If I was TNA I'd build around him.  Why not?  He's sympathetic, over, works hard, can talk and has charisma.  The only other guy on the roster who might be as complete a talent as him is Aries.

I'm confused by the "we're going to be black and white some times, but not all the times" while Spud was bleeding.  blood on half his face OK.  Blood on all his face bad?

That was so weird. THEY HYPED UP THE SHOW with the full-blown shot up top, and then had Josh talk about changing it up, but they did so at random.

The Main Event match EC3 vs. Spud I will have to double check but right now is probably TNA's 2015 match of the year.

EC3's evil promo at the end was so great and makes me wish he made the March madness tournament but if he keeps it up I will have to push for him in next year's March Madness.

It seemed like they only did it if he was looking directly at the camera once his face was covered.

Spud vs. ECIII was REALLY good. Like, one of the best TNA matches I've ever seen behind the awesome James Storm vs Chris Harris Death Match. I also THOROUGHLY enjoyed the Robbie E vs. Brooke match and am thinking I might have been missing out on a few fun acts completely skipping TNA. With Mike Tenay gone I may try and start following this regularly.

Be aware that Josh was COMPLETELY INSUFFERABLE for 90% of the show and Taz said maybe half a dozen lines. It literally sounded like a video game with random voice clips inserted whenever he spoke.

You can also skip everything but the main event. EY-Roode was technically good, but I didn't give a shit about it. THEY JUST HAD A BLOWOFF MATCH THREE WEEKS AGO and the only reason EY is in the title hunt is because he beat TOMMY DREAMER of all people. That catapulted him back into the number 3 spot.

I watched most of the show, skipping around here and there. Josh didn't stand out as awful to me, I mean I watch WWE & Lucha Underground and Josh is NOT more annoying than Michael Cole or Matt Striker. The bar is very low at this point. Tazz however can go join Mike Tenay in the "I don't give a fuck what you're doing as long as you aren't anywhere I can hear you" zone.

I enjoyed Spud/ECIII a lot. I've seen almost no TNA in the last 2 years, but I was sort of aware what was going on and the pre- and post-match and work really told a great self-contained story. I'd imagine it would have been even better having seen the build. The commentary didn't really do anything for me, but I tuned it out so it didn't hurt it either. I'm not crazy about the finisher tribute stuff, but Spud was great, ECIII is a good heel, and the last 5 minutes or so were pretty enthralling.

So EC3 can talk great, play a character great, has a great look, and can work a pretty good match.  Why on Earth did the WWE fire him but keep duds like Bo Dallas, Adam Rose, Fandango, etc?

Also, Tazz was unbelievable tonight.  I think TNA must have finally got fed up with his nonsense rambling and scripted out everything they wanted him to say instead, leading to that travesty.

The funny thing about Taz's lines was you could clearly tell when specific lines were cut and pasted into the audio. There's a noticeable change in the sound when it happens.

Man Roode/Young and EC3/Spud were really fun matches. It's a shame TNA has no PPV to speak of because those would have been great on a show like Bound For Glory. I'm still not sold on Eric Young: SRS BUSINESS, but man he can take a beating and dish one. Speaking beatings, holy hell TNA has their own Raven vs. Dreamer feud with Spud and EC3. Even though I read the spoilers like a month ago and knew he lost I still wanted to see Spud win. Carter/Bateman is such a tremendous asshole. In another decade he would need armed guards escorting him to the ring.

I really hope EC3 ends up winning the world title and Spud gets a shot at him. That underdog story might even be more amazing to watch.
