WholeFnMachine Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I've been really digging both @midnight and the Meltdown. Usually a good amount of quality on both.
twiztor Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 headed to see Nick Swardson tomorrow. i find his comedy cds pretty damn funny, and when he's a supporting character he's fantastic, but as the main character he continuously bombs. should be interesting.
Curt McGirt Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Goddamn Proops, Tompkins, and Hodgman are killing it on @Midnight. Hodgman has now grown out a PARTIALLY WHITE NECKBEARD that is so egregious it would make you want to slap him if it wasn't, you know, Hodgman, and you knew he knew better. There is some serious damage in that man's head.
piranesi Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Skinny Hodgman looks wrong. Like some bizarre life-sized marionette. The effete Warhol slick-down comeover doesn't help. None of that is on the right body.
Curt McGirt Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I don't think anything about him is meant to look right.
Johnny Sorrow Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 @Midnight is consistently funny, the Nerdist podcast is great, pretty much every great comic is friends with him and considers him a peer, so...can we end the Hardwick hate? Yes. He did the dumb MTV dating show a long time ago, let's get over it.
Dank Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 @Midnight is consistently funny, the Nerdist podcast is great, pretty much every great comic is friends with him and considers him a peer, so...can we end the Hardwick hate? WholeFnMachine Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 "I feel like hipsters should eat with their assholes because they consume everything wrong!" Chris Hardwick I loved his last album
Randy Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I don't get Reggie Watts. He's talented, but I don't laugh when I watch him. Am I alone?
piranesi Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I don't get Reggie Watts. He's talented, but I don't laugh when I watch him. Am I alone? Watch the episode of comedy bang bang where he became a cop. If you don't laugh at him in that uniform then you may as we'll cut ties with him.
Ace Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I don't get why Paul F. Tompkins doesn't have his own show. 1
Greggulator Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I hate Hardwick. Dude's such a marketing ploy. People "like" him because he has an empire they need access to.
Curt McGirt Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I have zero interest in Reggie Watts either. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but I prefer to keep my interest in music and comedy separate.
piranesi Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I don't get why Paul F. Tompkins doesn't have his own show. There was this:
Lazlo Woodbine Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Is that Lee Mack on the top right there? That guy is the shits.
Johnny Sorrow Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 @Midnight is consistently funny, the Nerdist podcast is great, pretty much every great comic is friends with him and considers him a peer, so...can we end the Hardwick hate? Holy shit, I got my message boards with a stand up thread mixed up. Sorry, haha.
Curt McGirt Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 @Midnight: Kevin Smith (okay...), Justin Long (que?!), Jen Kirkman Winner: JEN KIRKMAN!!! If you want a woman to kill you with a single smile/tweak of her eyes and wreck your ass with humor, there you go. Yes, this is pauntsless. My apologies. And my joke about the D&D thing would have miserably lost, but it would have been "Just get drunk and listen to Bolt Thrower instead. Because Warhammer made the album cover." This is what I do when I have no money to go to the downtown Weedeater show.
Zimbra Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Which one of you let Louis CK take DMT and get on Twitter?
Greggulator Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I'm getting into some name dropping mode right now since this is my world a bit.Mike Birbiglia is fantastic. I love that guy so much, especially since he works clean. DISCLOSURE: My brother Chris is opening for him on a tour right now. Obviously I think my brother's really great. (And please watch The Chris Gethard Show since it's great and very wrestling influenced. He's had Colt Cabana, Eddie Kingston and Tito Santana on as guests.)Also, Jen Kirkman RULES. I'm a big fan. I sorta know her through comedy circles and she's a really terrific person.I really like those dudes The Lucas Brothers who are starting to pick up some steam. I did shows a few times with them in Philly and always really impressed me with their demeanor. They're also great guys.If you get a shot to see Doogie Horner perform, jump on it. He should break out soon. He was on America's Got Talent a few years ago and made the rounds for heckling the audience that was booing him. He's starting to tour outside New York. He's a really good friend of mine and is hysterical. I also performed a bunch of times with Monroe Martin who was on the latest Last Comic Standing. I don't know him that well but he put in the work and I saw him develop into something really special.Josh Rabinowitz is another Philly comic who has picked up some steam in New York. He was on Fallon recently. He's FANTASTIC and worth seeing. I knew him when he was in college at UPenn and making the rounds. He's one of my favorites. David Adgukem is also starting to get booked on the regular in New York and is also hysterical. I hung out with those guys a bit and am super happy to see them really start to get their legs.My favorite unknown comic in the world right now is my buddy Brett Davis. He has a great show in New York called The Macaulay Culkin Show that's well work checking out. He's a huge rasslin' nerd, too, and does a character that's based off of Ricky Morton. 1
Randy Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I'm a big Mike Birbiglia fan too. His stories are so awkward-- in a good way. As the story goes along you know that he is going to find a way to fuck up. But you can relate to the situation.
J.T. Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 One of my friends from high school is a professional stand up comedian. WHO IS DAVID BECK~?!
RIPPA Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Amazing Jonathan says he only has a year to live
Curt McGirt Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Yeesh. So what is wrong with the dude? I don't know of a heart failure condition where your hands and legs lock up.
hobo joe Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 http://youtu.be/1xFWdzQTkUE Maybe this is in bad form, but that's me. I do stand-up. It's a joke I do, which is on an album I made, which is available here http://www.erikcribley.bandcamp.com You can stream it and buy it if you like it enough. That would be great. Thank you, I'll go fuck myself now.
