Curt McGirt Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Well, I graduated the rehab program I've been working since last August today. I'd say about half the time I was still drinking, and I've slipped up twice since the beginning of the year, but I've kept the course. I have all the ammunition for help in the world, and am grateful I did it. Do I deserve the degree? Probably not. If I was 100% honest I'd have never ended up getting out of the program. But I made the effort and for that I'm proud of myself. It's time to move on. 11

Mike Campbell Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 (edited) The plot apparently thickens! I check my account this morning and see that my direct deposit from them has already hit, and it's more than double what it usually is. Either they massively screwed up payroll, or they've taken it upon themselves to pay out my PTO even though I haven't officially left yet (last day will be July 6th) and actually had plans to take off Sunday and use some time. I have to wait a couple of hours until their system updates and shows me my paystub to see WTF is happening. Edit: And yes, they decided to cash out my PTO without informing me. My wife: Maybe they just really want you to stay! Edited June 13, 2024 by Mike Campbell update
Joe vs the Algorithm Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Going to be a long year. Having a pain problem in one arm that docs think is a pinched nerve. Manageable first couple weeks, but quite painful now. Alternates pain with a very odd tingling sensation that runs down my whole arm. Physical therapist thinks it is related to a couple decades of poor posture, so probably won’t be a quick fix. Ugh.
Curt McGirt Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Forgot to mention that my credit union account got hacked and they froze my card... for delivery upon 8-10 days Why I can't just go to the main building and have them cut one on the spot for me like they did at my dad's bank is beyond me, as is why I have to call a toll-free number to get it activated.
Zimbra Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 That's fucked up, I lost my debit card last week and was able to walk into my CU and get a new one. It even has a picture of a badger on the front. Then I walked out to my car and immediately found my 'lost' card because I am an idiot.
Curt McGirt Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 They can give you temp cards with a preset amount of money on them, like gift cards with your account's cash, but I don't really need one. Thankfully. I know they're just a credit union but if they can hold my fucking money for me then they can afford to stamp some numbers and a bar code scan into a strip of plastic right then and there, can't they? And while they're at it activate the thing since THEY RUN THE GODDAMN BANK?! Grrrr... anyway... Does anyone remember a poster named Marty Feldman's Left Eye on here? That wasn't another board I was on, was it? Real smart, funny dude as I recall.

I've had the same problem going back to late last year in my left arm. I also had the tingling sensation going down my arm. Physical therapy helped immensely. Mine was also related to poor posture. I was prescribed gabapentin for the pain, but I haven't really had to take it. 1
Technico Support Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 (edited) I’m sitting in an outdoor shopping center waiting for a store to open. There’s a violinist playing for donations and it hits me that he’s playing “Informer” by Snow. Okay then. Edited June 18, 2024 by Technico Support 3 3

When you read the lyrics, the song makes sense. Now, I'm going to hit youtube to see if I can find a violin cover. While looking for "Informer" covers, I came upon this one. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xpV9wRA7_sY&pp=ygUUc25vdyBpbmZvcm1lciBjb3ZlciA%3D Edited June 15, 2024 by Nice Guy Eddie 1 1

Curt McGirt Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 After a revisit, it was apparent that Snow is in fact quite talented, and got a bad rap... but that In Living Color Jim Carrey parody is still hilarious. 3
Octopus Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 lil Octopus has SuctionCup Tentacle & Beak Disease. Poor guy had a very tough night where his mouth hurt and was struggle to sleep. So the two of us stayed up laying on the couch (then I was smart enough to bring his mattress to the living room) and we watch Zootopia and Finding Nemo on repeat all night. Last year he had bad Stridor and needed to be in the ER overnight. Father’s Day is cursed. My beautiful wife, Gazelle, is making pork chops though. So I’m tired but about to eat good. 3

Haven't gotten around to it, as of yet, though. 2

Way too much of the playlist is dedicated to the "Euro dude 'rapping,' trying to sound tough and then a woman sings the chrous" 90s dance style...Snap, Real McCoy, Culture Beat, La Bouche, C+C were all secretly the same band, right? Curt McGirt Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_(musician) Looks like you probably shouldn't talk shit about Snow. He might come at you with a crowbar. 1
