The DC Entertainment Thread

Can't believe a word of that.

Like I said in the Summer Blockbuster thread, it would be hard to see WB continue to push out more Edge of Tomorrows and Pacific Rims (I liked both BTW) when they have potential with their other properties (and Melissa McCartney being the rotund flavor of the season). Even if Nikki Finke may be bit off, I doubt the plans are that much off.

Thing is, this isn't the first time WB has rolled out an ambitious schedule for future DC property movies.

Remember

2005: Batman! (Batman Begins, check)

2006: Superman! (Superman Returns, check)

2007: Wonder Woman! (er...)

2008 Batman sequel! (The Dark Knight, check)

2009: Superman sequel! (um...)

2010: Wonder Woman sequel! (HA!)

2011: Batman sequel! (Year delayed, but The Dark Knight Rises, check.)

And that doesn't even get into previously announced Flash and Green Arrow films that never materialized.

You're forgetting the George Miller Justice League which had a full cast and costumes but whatever. It's going to happen this time.

I don't know how reliable Jeff Sneider and The Wrap are but...

It amazes me how little I care about any of this.

Then again, I really didn't care about the X-Men Franchise until I saw Days of Future Past and now I kind of sort of care, so a good movie could, theoretically, make a difference.

So no Metallo killing Clark Kent?

Same for me. It's amazing how much Man of Steel ruined every hope or expectation I ever had for a DC movie universe.

At every point before Man of Steel I would have been giddy with excitement about all of this, but now I don't even give the slightest hint of a shit about any of it.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been offered some superhero projects, but they don't seem too anxious to step into one right away after doing the LEGO movie and 22 Jump Street back to back. Plus, Miller is directing a movie for Sony by himself next. They already turned down Ant-Man, BTW. It would be interesting to see them take a crack at one of the major characters.

So remember a few weeks ago when Jason Momoa made headlines because he said he was tired of being asked if he was going to play Aquaman in "Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice"?

Well, he's totally playing Aquaman in "Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice."

While Warner Bros. hasn't made that announcement officially yet, HitFix can confirm that he will be playing the part, and that Zack Snyder has already finalized his designs for the character so shooting can take place soon.

One of the things that has driven me crazy since the release of "Man Of Steel" is when people say that the last act of the film is a problem since there's no consequences for Superman after all of the destruction that results from his battle with Zod. I felt like it was pretty clear walking out of the theater that the next film would have to be all about consequences. I suspected that Lex Luthor would use the destruction as a way of making Superman look like a monster, and it sounds like that is indeed one of the major ideas that they're playing with in "Dawn Of Justice."

Someone else who's not particularly happy about what happened in that film is Aquaman. I'm not sure if that's the actual name they'll use or not, but what we're hearing is that he is not pleased about the World Engine and what it did to the Indian Ocean. He will not have a major role in the film, but he will make an appearance, and it definitely sets him up to return once Snyder gets to "Justice League."

So don't keep asking Momoa about the rumor. It's driving him crazy, and he's got to be sworn to secrecy. But rest assured that when "Dawn Of Justice" arrives in theaters in 2016, we're going to see the king of Atlantis onscreen, and Vinnie Chase will have nothing to do with it at all.

Finally getting back to Arrow. Even accepting that the original back story's version wouldn't fit well with the universe they're building, that's STILL the worst live-action "realistic" revamp of a villain since the 1990 Flash show version of Captain Cold. They should just have not tried to use the character at all instead of giving his name to a drug chemist and dealer. So awful.

What character are you talking about here?  I'm drawing a blank.

Galah, didn't realize I had left the char name out of the original post. Count Vertigo, aka drug dealer "The Count"

Spoiler tagged just in case it's true

http://www.sneakpeek.ca/2014/06/batman-superman-dawn-of-justice-metallo.html

Confirming our past reports, a script leak has revealed that 2 more DC Comics super-villains will appear in director Zack Snyder's "Man Of Steel" sequel, "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice":

"'Brainiac' helps 'Lex Luthor' construct Metallo for the purpose of perfecting the process to usher in a physical body for 'Brainiac', along with a drone army..."

"'Lex Luthor' will not have many scenes together with Superman because he is working in the background. In this movie, he will be more of a manipulator with Metallo doing most of the physical work.

"The movie will end with an exiled Superman. And the 'Justice League' will be a superhero team approved by the government..."
