Tabe Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 He is probably right to take the 4 game suspension over the wrath of Gisele finding out he handed over his phone with nude pics of her on it.Eh, anybody with Google can find nude pics of her.
supremebve Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 That is completely different than what I'm talking about. I'm not saying you don't have to follow the rules of your job, I'm saying that you shouldn't do anything to help them investigate you that you wouldn't do for the police. Two totally different sets of rules and one rarely applies to the other. If a cop pulls you over for speeding and wants to see what is on your phone then you can say, "Warrant, mother fucker," and he couldn't do jack without a court order unless your state legislature / governor shit the bed and turned that hogwash into a law. If as a condition of your employment, you signed a legally binding document and waived your ability not to fully comply with an internal inquiry if it could turn out to be self incriminating and then balked when you were being investigated, your employers could fire you and they'd have every right to do so. That's the personal price you paid for joining the League. There is no Miranda in the workplace. You provide your terms of service and your employer provides theirs. If you break their contract, they fire you. If they break yours, you sue the crap out of them. I'm not disputing any of that, I'm saying there is a line to be drawn, and they stepped over that line. It is worth getting fired for not allowing them to step over that line. Searching any of my personal property without a warrant is a line I'm not willing to let my employer cross, and apparently Tom Brady feels the same way. My issue is that I find the request to be over that line, and a violation of what I personally think is acceptable behavior. I don't care what they are investigating, I'm not going to allow someone to cross that line on principle. I'd rather find another job than allow someone to search through my phone, house, car, etc, looking to incriminate me.

Tom Brady "feels the same way" because there were texts on his phone that implicate him. It's not like he's fighting for personal freedoms and taking a brave stand against THE MAN's overreach to teach Goodell a lesson about personal privacy.

If that is the case, what stopped him from deleting the incriminating texts and giving them the phone? They can't get any deleted messages without a warrant, and they don't have the authority to get one. He could have given them his phone, or a phone, but he decided against it. I don't know if he cares about personal freedoms, but he wasn't going to give them his phone whether he had anything on it or not.

RIPPA Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 BTW - the Pats are already technically saving $800K on this deal The fine is $1 million The money they don't have to pay Brady during his suspension is $1.8 million But sure help pay the fine 1
supremebve Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Are there any safeguards against having a Go Fund Me for something that isn't necessarily on the up and up? Kuetsar Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Not that I think this has a chance in hell of happening, but wouldn't it be great if this was the year that the Pats finally fell to earth and got a top ten-fifteen pick?

EdA Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 This could go in the offseason thread but...man, the stupidity. So the Pats created a rebuttal page to Deflategate. Somewhere even Lionel Hutz is laughing at this. For those too lazy to read the whole thing - Deadspin recaps.

'Deflate' was a term they used to refer to losing weight." So, the Patriots suspended this guy indefinitely because. . .he was trying to lose some weight? REAL COACHES HAVE CURVES, damn you!
