RIPPA Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 Leaked hospital reports are fun. Yeah - showing actual documents opens up a lotta issues. But hey - ESPN is going to ESPN
odessasteps Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 The SI Legal Guy is discusiing HIPPA vilolations on his twitter.
The Comedian Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Ya know, these firecrackers, my God, I can't even...really, I'll tell ya, I don't even see fingers, but maybe it's just 'cause I'm numb and stingy... 1
RIPPA Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 It wouldn't be shocked at all if JPP gave ESPN permission but told the Giants to fuck off It's like he was going to the extreme with the "piss the Giants off enough to get them to rescind the franchise tag"
Tabe Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 The SI Legal Guy is discusiing HIPPA vilolations on his twitter. It's HIPAA. And violations are serious business. The one guy on Twitter who broke the story with info from his friend, well, that friend will be in deep doodoo. The hospital itself can be in big trouble too. 1

I saw someone say this: If JPP never plays another game in his life he'll be OK, because he will own every cent that hospital and those guys ever made and will ever make.
RIPPA Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 Yeah - that's not going to happen for several reasons. And ESPN is saying HIPAA doesn't apply to news organizations Which it does and it doesn't (I really really don't want us to dive in the legalities) I would just say for me personally - I look at it more as an ethical decision rather than a legal decision - and we all know how ESPN is with ethics (God I really would like my football stories to not start fucking crossing over into my job/field related stories) 1
muhammedboehm Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Yeah from what I understand HIPPA only applies to who the medical people can give info to. what happens with that info after that is not a HIPPA.
Fallacy! Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 My family has been going to the indian reservation and buying massive amounts of sparklers (which were used to make sparkler bombs, of course), bottle rockets, cakes, roman candles, etc since I was a little kid. Never once, in the more than 20 years of us doing that every July 4th, has anyone here ever lost a limb or ligament, nor have any of us ever come close to doing so. These athletes are just so stupid.
Tabe Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 ESPN is absolutely in the clear here. The penalties apply to the guy who leaked the info, and his organization, not the person/company who received the info. Still, JPP has grounds for a big, fat lawsuit against the hospital and the leaker, for sure.
Death From Above Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I guess we know what the next question added to the NFL Wonderlic test will be: Should you hold onto a lit firework, which is full of gunpowder? [ ] Yes [ ] No 2
RIPPA Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 For the love of God, it's HIPAA not HIPPA. I am blaming this one on me
Brian Fowler Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Hey, at least he's not the guy that shot a rocket off his head and died... 4
Gonzo Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Greg Hardy's suspension has been reduced from ten games to four. Because. . .well, fuck, I don't know why.
RIPPA Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 Remember kids - beating women is the same as whatever the fuck Tom Brady was accused of doing 4
supremebve Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Remember kids - beating women is the same as whatever the fuck Tom Brady was accused of doing Didn't he bodyslam a woman on a pile of guns? If you were watching a TV show or reading a book, or just trying to make some shit up, could you have come up with that? That sounds like something you'd see in a movie and it destroying your ability to suspend your belief. This dude did that shit in real life.
hammerva Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Just a mental note to all those football players that like to beat up a woman, make sure the camera isn't running. Ray Rice punched her and is pretty much done for his career. Greg Hardy is accused of much much worse and is only suspended for 4 games.
Kevin Wilson Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 What people are forgetting is that it happened before the NFL's new domestic abuse policy, which is the basis of deduction, and since the woman decided not to pursue it there wasn't a conviction to go off of. Rice was actually found guilty of something (even though the plea deal was crazy), and of course the on-camera thing really didn't help. But that is always the case, the FSU QB wouldn't have been cut if there wasn't a video, video always leads to quicker and more serious punishments. But the arbitrator can only go off of what the CBA says, blame both sides for it being lax.
odessasteps Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 It helps to ... Cough... Settle financially out of court .... Cough...
