ingrsco Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I'm not sure if this has been suggested but what about a match with Bryan and HHH where if Bryan wins he gets his title shot and a for real shot in the sense that Trips, Steph and the Authority have no way to fuck with him. Logistically I'm not sure of the exacts but then they can give DB the title and that ends the arc that started with SummerSlam (arguably maybe before). Just a thought.
RonL21 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 WrestleMania XXIV is a top 5 Mania. Maybe top 3. The only mania that's better top to bottom off the top of my head is X-7.
Matt D Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I kind of wonder if this Mania crowd will be savvy enough that they'd crap on a match that Bryan wins but without really getting put over (which is one of Hunter's most impressive skills as a wrestler). 1
RonL21 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 XIX probably is. X-7, XXIV, and XIX are probably my top 3. I'm sure some of the older one's like IV, V, etc. I should watch
Craig H Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 IV is terrible. V is better, but IV is...ugh... 2
MonteCarl Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 For old school Manias, I've always been partial to WM 6
Dolfan in NYC Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 III has the mind blowing Steamboat-Savage match which I believe was the consensus best match in WWF/E History for a solid decade or so.
The Damn Yeti Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 8 is the only Mania I've ever attended, and as such it's my favorite of 1-9. I'd say my top 5 are probably 8, 10, 17, 19, and 24, like others have said.
Valcourt Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 You could play into the fact that Triple H's wing is still bad from the Lesnar matches. Have Bryan just decimate it, then HHH could come out for weeks with a sling, having Bryan arrested and harassed for his "vicious assault." Have Randy orton push HHH's wheelchair around. have Stephanie talk about how HHH can't "play with his daughters or put them to bed" because of what Bryan did to him. Make him beat a bunch of dudes to get his title match. Might be fun... That's a total Vince move. Not the KING OF KINGGSSS_UHHH!
Niners Fan in CT Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 WrestleMania V is awesome. Everything after Twin Towers/Rockers is icing on the cake.
LooseCannon Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I now really want Bryan to win the title in Chicago. The only downside is that it isn't the big event. Do you really want to see Bryan lose to Batista at Wrestlemania?
The Natural Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 XIX probably is. X-7, XXIV, and XIX are probably my top 3. I'm sure some of the older one's like IV, V, etc. I should watch I have the same top three as you.
SolidGoldBomb Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Taker vs. Edge > Mayweather vs. Show > HBK vs. Flair, but ut was just a damn good show. Last great top to bottom WrestleMania. I was there for that one, and that's easily the best wrestling show i've ever been to. 1
Chaos Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 X-7 and XIX are easily my top two. I am not sure what my third one would be. I would probably go with 23 or 24 as has already been mentioned elsewhere.
Josh Mann Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 XXVI is really, really underrated in terms of the top-level WrestleManias. I would say THAT was probably the last great one.
RonL21 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 XXVI is really, really underrated in terms of the top-level WrestleManias. I would say THAT was probably the last great one. I think 23 is underrated as well.
The Natural Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 The Undertaker has the best entrance in wrestling history and he's had particularly memorable ones at this event (IX, 13, XIV, XX, 23, XXIV, XXV, XXVI and XXIX). Looking forward to see this one. I've just reminded myself about The Undertaker returning to his WrestleMania VII costume at WrestleMania 13, love that.
Dirty J. Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Wrestlemania 17 is still the best and my favorite.Secretly I have the fondest memories of Wrestlemania 16. First PPV I ordered with my own hard earned cash. Watched it with my bro and cousin. My brother was so sure Foley would win, my cousin had the Big Show as the underdog and I was rooting for The Rock. I remember the collective hissy fit we threw when LOLHHHWINS happened.
twiztor Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 22 makes my #3 fave, but thats because it was the first i watched in person. nothing tops X7.
Craig H Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 X-7 is my all-time favorite, but 3 and 23 hold special spots in my heart since those were the two Wrestlemanias I attended live. Two Wrestlemanias in Chicago and I didn't attend either one. Two Wrestlemanias in and around the Detroit area that are twice as far away for me, and I attend both of those.
ingrsco Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 X 7 is my fave and I was there live. I also always liked 3 for some reason. I plan on revisiting them all on the network to see if they all hold up. A few early ones I haven't seen in years and the recent ones I haven't seen since the PPV.
nate Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 We're at 30; any consensus on the greatest Mania matches? Shoot for 30?
Ace Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Hart vs. Piper - 8 Flair vs. Savage - 8 Warrior vs. Savage - 7 HBK vs. Ramon - 10 1
HumanChessgame Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Has there ever been an angle where the Rumble winner lost their WM title shot?
