  1. No, I believe that's Rob Conway you're referring to, not Max Moon.

  2. I think I have to go with Ultimate Warrior. When I was a kid, I didn't care that he did like three moves, and none of them particularly well. I just liked that there was this jacked, colorful dude yelling nonsense on my tv.

  3. When you look back on it, the Attitude Era in many ways succeeded despite itself. It was largely low quality garbage like Beaver Cleavage but you had generational talents in the mix and that elevated the whole shipyard. Bischoff and Russo were "trying to attract young viewers" with stuff akin to the worst stuff Russo did in WWF and they didn't have a Rock, Austin, Undertaker, Foley, etc. to actually draw an audience. It's like the old Eddie Murphy act where he says "I do put some jokes in between the curse words." All Bischoff and Russo had were the curse words.

  4. Their screams and kid behind the camera with the Butthead voice saying “you guys okay?” live in my head and it’s been like 20 years!

  5. I hope his speech ends with a level 10 Michael Hayes public shaming, and X-Pac being legally forced to serve him an untainted meatball parmagiana. Dead serious: Henry almost singlehandedly changed my taste in wrestling (in a secondhand way) because of my early days lurking here. If it wasn't for the Hall of Pain stuff (and boy, does that HOF merch sell itself) and all of the great 'air bill' jokes and such, there's a very, very real chance I'd still be sitting here going on and on about how no one could ever touch RVD vs Jerry or something of that ilk.

  6. I am an unabashed Repo Man fan. Someone on Crazymax used to make early 90s WWF comps and his Repo Man set was one of my favorites. D-Ray 3000 comes to mind as well.

  7. During an interview Charles Barkley told Anthony Edwards he hadn't been to Minnesota in about 20 years. Ant's response was "Bring ya ass." BringYaAss.com now brings you to the Minnesota state tourism site.

  11. I feel like WWE would put him in their HoF as soon as next year if he came back. As an apology for ...all that... if for nothing else.

  12. The performer is not terrible by any means, but my love of Luchasaurus is definitely due to the gimmick. What's better than a God-damned dinosaur who knows lucha libre? (Now, "Killswitch" is nowhere near my list of faves.)

  13. Some of ECW's tag teams were seemingly thrown together but ended up being absolutely amazing. Doring/Roadkill and Tajiri/Whipwreck immediately come to mind.

  16. I don't blame Missy if she doesn't want to talk about the moment where her career was basically imploded because she was sexually harassed, but she was blamed for it because she was sexually active. When the only defense to "hanging up pictures of a co-worker having her breast exposed without her consent" is "well she has sex a lot so she must be okay with it", and somehow HER career was what was ended... I wouldn't blame her for being upset, and I wouldn't fault her for claiming she's under a NDA so people leave her the hell alone.

  20. But that would mean possibly inducting Owen, right?

  21. I haven't watched the match recently, but that's how I remembered it happening as well. The Steiners weren't going to take liberties in a match with Fujinami anyway, since Fujinami could more than hold his own plus Fujinami still held a lot of power with New Japan, where they were making a good deal of money.

  22. I mean, that describes most Steiners matches until they ran smack into the MVC, which was way more adept at brutalizing guys.

  23. I didn't see him as Repo Man until much later on, but I truly, truly love all the goofy shit he got away with on WCWSN in the later years. Barry "Hole in One" Darsow, the amnesia angle where he went back to Blacktop Bully... Just tremendous Tajiri/Whipwreck was one of my favorite teams of all time. I always thought it would have been a nice idea to put them together during the Invasion angle - Tajiri and Regal's stuff was so good, I would have loved to seen Regal as the foil doing his disgusted face at Mikey's cackling and Vandenberg's creepiness. IIRC, Roadkill was one of few late-ECW guys the WWF optioned to go to developmental - my memory is that Doring may have gone too, but if so, didn't make it very long. But I definitely remember it got to the point with Roadkill where they had semi-repackaged him, and he was doing dark matches in regular gear - so someone there definitely shared your vision.

  26. 100% agree with this. The luchadors were really the "coolest" guys in WCW and that's because of MOVEZ to my friends and I. Outside of that, K-Dawg was seen as cool (cool enough that I got sent home for wearing the K-Dawg 187 shirt.) Wolfpac was cool at first. After that, it was like our dad's and grandpa's trying to look hip. Of course, both promotions lost their lustre when we started getting ECW tapes from a friend's brother.

  28. OK, who is your favorite wrestler solely because of their gimmick(s)? Not because of their in-ring or mic work. Just going off "they're terrible, but I loved their gimmick(s)." I ask this because in the past few months, I've seen quite a bit of Charles Wright as Papa Shango, NoD Kama, and the Godfather, and I was overjoyed to see him pop up on my screen each time even though he is absolutely terrible.

  29. Nash is the only guy on that list who is even remotely able to keep up with the times. He was very wise to attach himself to Konnan throughout most of 1998, too. I was just watching a late '98 Nitro and Lex Luger is wearing a FUBU baseball jersey in one backstage segment, and it's like, man, Nash really was trying to get all of these old acts to at least look contemporary. Hogan dresses like Konnan would in a couple of January '99 Nitros, and it's the funniest thing ever. But even with the flannel and baggy jeans, he still can't get away from the late '60s biker aesthetic that is really the only thing he knows. It's funny as fuck. One guy on that list you didn't mention is Randy Savage, and while he did foresee where the business was going in 1999, I have a negative amount of interest in him wearing all black and slapping valets. I digress, though. The point is that, yes, WCW started chasing WWF's programming style in 1998 and was doomed because there was no way they were going to beat the WWF at the WWF's own game.

  36. Opening segment with Sami and Alpha Academy was solid. The Sami/Gable match it led into was even better with Gable getting some good heel heat and further setting up the eventual Otis breakaway that will molten. Dug Maxxine and Tozawa's parts in this and how Gable sent them away after failing to cheat for him. Bron murdering a a PC/NXT rookie was great. As was his later murder of Ricochet. It is a bit amusing to me though as I'm not sure this will have the heel turn effect they are hoping for with the crowd clearly being into Bron and wanting to cheer him generally speaking. Io/Lyra was good though not as good as Io/Shayna or Bianca/Tiffany from last week. Not big on Lyra getting the victory though I suppose she is need of this to further establish her as something worthwhile. I just feel like Lyra is another Zoey Stark where the in ring talent may be there, but the lack of character or charisma hurts her. Awesome Truth vs. Finn/JD was surprisingly good fun with decent action and everyone working well together. Curious to see if this Braun stuff actually leads to him vs. Priest for the belt. The Liv/Becky segment was fine. 4-way no. 1 contenders' match for the women's tag belts was decent chaos with some fun moments. Never been big on the Shayna/Zoey team, but they should make for a solid match with Bianca and Jade. I'm also curious to see where the relationships with Sonya heads. Gunther/Jey was Gunther's weakest match in the tournament and it was still pretty good. Dug the arm work from Gunther. Dug the big hope spots for Jey, and the finish was pretty nice with Gunther choking Jey out with another unique submission compared to the norm we see. Solid show though no great matches like the last couple of weeks. Crowd was pretty weak tonight though they were alive for the tag titles match and Jey/Gunther which are both worth catching alongside Io/Lyra.

  37. I'd kill for AEW to use the barbed wire trampoline gimmick one time, partly because I love me some barbed wire trampoline and partly because the meltdown on social media would be tremendous.
