Its a bit early, but I'd like to be the first to welcome Cubs fans to this thread. . . .

You know what helps this first day of the offseason?

Dusty Baker not coming back next year.

And apparently the entire coaching staff.    So Bryce's last possible year with the Nationals will be with a new manager.  What could possibly go wrong

Chris Bosio hits the unemployment line. He's done a good job with the  Cubs starting pitchers, it's just that the bullpen was a dumpster fire this postseason.

I'll be curious to see where he lands, and who the Cubs get as a replacement.

Jim Hickey would be the obvious candidate though Mike Maddux is also available.

Speaking of pitching coaches - the Giants bumped Dave Righetti up into the front office and need a new one

I would prefer Maddux, but figure Jim Hickey will be the hire for the Cubs.

The Red Sox have officially offered Alex Cora a 3 year deal to be manager.

It is generally believed that Cora will accept once the World Series is over

The Phillies were apparently trying to work out a trade for both Christian Yelich & Giancarlo Stanton.

However, Stanton's agent has indicated he will not waive his no-trade clause.

For what, their entire farm system plus the liberty bell?

I think this will be one of those "in hindsight, we're glad that deal didn't happen" scenarios in 5 years for Philadelphia.

We are a team built on pitching, so hiring a pitching guru as manager makes sense. I like this hire.

As well as a bottle of scotch and a copy of The Godfather. And a written apology to the Phillies fans.

The Nats will also interview Kevin Long (if the Mets give permission)

Eric Hinske goes from Cubs hitting coach to LAA hitting coach

Yes, I had to look up if he was John Wathan’s son. (He is)

I had a feeling that Martinez might be gone. Hinske was more of a "man, I hope this guy goes somewhere else."
