Cobra Commander
I think I found a Verne MSG match that would have been even weirder if it was preserved on tape Quote WWWF @ New York City, NY – Madison Square Garden – February 26, 1973 (22,098) Terry Funk defeated Chuck Richards (sub. for Eddie Graham) at 10:55 AWA World Champion Verne Gagne defeated Eddie Graham (sub. for Ray Stevens) at 14:35 (Graham’s last MSG appearance) CageMatch doesn’t list any Terry Funk/Verne Gagne matches. But there is a Terry vs Greg Gagne match Edited October 9, 2023 by Cobra Commander

zendragon
The Macmahon's have had vacation homes in Florida so they where always on good terms with The Grahams (plus Vince Jr. kinda left it alone during the expansion probably viewing it similarly to Memphis in that it wasn't competition that he could use as a talent pipeline) Plus I think Sr. had a good realtionship with Verne
odessasteps
I meant rival as in “fellow”, not “adversaries.” about halfway through the Shiek book. Very informative.

They didn't run in Miami until August 1984, they didn't run a show that wasn't on the Atlantic coast of Florida (Miami/Jacksonville/West Palm/Hollywood) until July 1985 (Orlando), and didn't debut in Tampa until August 1985. clintthecrippler
In which 1986 UWF and Joel Watts make Tony Khan's Twitter trash talk last week look like absolute amateur hour by using the contrivance of explaining how the rules of body parts breaking the plane of the ropes negates a pin as an excuse to show Jake Roberts - who left for the World Wrestling Federation a mere seven weeks earlier - losing to Terry Taylor twice and then taking aim at the use of Damian in Jake's WWF post-matches. Timed to begin at the start of this segment: And as bonus WWF trash talk, this is followed by a 3-year old clip of Dr. Death Steve Williams beating "the current kingpin of the WWF" King Kong Bundy - two weeks after the latter main evented WrestleMania 2 against Hulk Hogan - bookmarked with the requisite "Bundy left the area for weaker competition" disclaimer from Jim Ross.
