A key location that had been secured was cut due to its Eastern Europe location, amid the war in Ukraine. And the movie still hadn’t cast one of its villains yet. The constantly moving target proved too much for seasoned Lin, who on April 23 had a “major disagreement” with Diesel. The four-person meeting had begun with Diesel having new notes. It ended with a slammed door. “Justin finally had enough and said, ‘This movie is not worth my mental health,'” says one source. Both Lin and Diesel declined comment for this story.

A Universal spokesperson told THR: “Any creative differences leading to Justin Lin’s exit were with the studio, not with fellow producers, cast or crew.”

In the heat of the moment, Lin said he was through with the movie. The studio took him seriously. And by April 25, a settlement was reached for Lin to exit the production. He would remain involved as a producer. A great many of the crew had worked on F9 with Lin and for a spell wondered what their next moves should be, but Lin, according to insiders, gave his blessing that they should stay on. Regardless, the muscle car had lost its driver as it was speeding down the highway.

Vin went on the red carpet and said the Fast franchise finale is actually a trilogy.

Funniest possible thing would be if Vin’s trying to pressure the studio into it and Universal heard about this at the same time as us.

Another day - another Vin Diesel feud

Jason Momoa’s character Dante Reyes was an eccentric villain in 2023’s Fast X. According to a recent report from RadarOnline, Vin Diesel wasn’t happy with Momoa’s portrayal.

In a new report, RadarOnline notes that Diesel is blaming Momoa for the poor reviews that Fast X received. Despite being a box office success, the film received mostly negative reviews, with critics calling out the film’s plot and outlandish action.

Although Momoa was mostly praised for his portrayal of Dante, the report notes that Diesel isn’t happy that Momoa is being called one of the only bright spots in the film.

“Vin is embarrassed Jason is being branded the only bright spot in the film and stealing his thunder in the franchise he built himself,” said a source to RadarOnline.

The report also mentions that insiders are saying that Diesel has been telling people that Momoa’s “overacting” and “scene-stealing” nature was a factor in the poor reviews, and undermined the film. RadarOnline’s report also mentions that Momoa is aware of how Diesel feels, although it’s unclear whether or not this will lead to any changes.
